23.01.2022 DRONES AT BUSHFIRES Drones have been sighted near the Mogumber bushfire which is currently at a Watch and Act and crews are working hard to protect lives and ...property. Remotely piloted aircraft such as drones pose a major risk to any aircraft actively operating in the area. Flying a drone at a bushfire can further endanger the community, as aircraft will need to be immediately grounded until the drone is located. Even a small drone could bring down a helicopter if it collided with the tail rotor, or an aeroplane if it hits the propeller! 22.01.2022 This morning we completed the first aerial 3D mapping scan for Lightsource BP for their Solar Farm under construction at Wellington. We flew over 110KM in the 2 days, equal to 1,400 acres and over 40,000 images (To put in perspective, thats about the size of the entire town of Wellington). These images are uploaded online where they are processed and stitched to a large scale 3D map for engineering and reporting use. We will complete over 30 scans during the 12 month const...ruction period. 19.01.2022 Due to the recent rain, one of our projects needed a little extra attention yesterday. On the Wellington Solar Farm Aerial 3D mapping project, we had Ground Control Points (GCPs) positioned across the site. This enables a point of known Geo-reference for greater accuracy in the map. On such a large project such as this, its essential that all the GCPs are visible by the drone. We spent 6 hours cleaning all 27 before commencing the drone flight. ... #westernaerialproductions #westernsurvey
