24.01.2022 It is almost time for our first monthly meeting since Covidpocalypse!! We are back into the swing of things this Wednesday, 1st July!! Our guest speaker for the night will be Geoff Crowhurst and he will be talking on the renowned story of Pegasus Bridge 1944. Given that we are now in Phase 4, there will be less restrictions than those listed in the News Flash that was included with the recent newsletter. Tea and coffee will be available but with disposable cups. Supper will... NOT be served this month, and the selling table is also not operational, but both will be back in August as we will well and truly be in Phase 5 by then. There is a strict hygiene regime at the RSL now and to assist with that we ask that no entry to the club before 7.15pm. This will allow for the sanitising to be done and rearranging of the tables. SHOW & TELL: Will be in operation so bring along your Covid stash of goodies!! Viewing will be controlled as social distancing still needs to be practiced wherever possible. Whilst we hope to see a bustling full hall of members at the meeting, we understand and respect that there are some who may not feel ready to attend larger functions as yet.

23.01.2022 Unfortunately due to the current restrictions on gatherings, and to avoid unneccesary risk to our members, sellers, and the general public, WAAAS will be cancelling our April swapmeet. This was due to occur on April 4. We will confirm any further swapmeets for the year closer to their planned dates. Thanks for your understanding and stay safe.

13.01.2022 75 years ago to this day, men from all corners of the world scrambled out of landing crafts to face hell along the beaches of France. Many thousands fell. On this day, we remember them and their sacrifice - stepping forward to fight a horrible war against tyrrany and evil so we can live in freedom. (Picture by Robert Capa)

08.01.2022 To all WAAAS members - the monthly meetings for April and May have been CANCELLED due to the current situation with the Covid-19 virus. This is disappointing for us all, but it is necessary to protect the health and safety of our members, and the community as a whole. The committee will continue to work together to decide when it is safe and appropriate to recommence normal club activities. We would encourage all our members to closely follow any directions and recommendations from our state and national governments at this time. Our newsletter now becomes even more important as it will be our main point of communication along with Facebook and webpage.

04.01.2022 A big thank you to everyone that took the time to vote for the best display this year. The winner was Chris Horvath with the WW1 display of the Vickers machine gun, soldier and the magnificent horse. Second was Matt Brittain and his display of German and Australian uniforms complete with weapons and accessories. Well done to all the other displayers as this was our best arrangement ever.

Given the Phase 3 changes due to begin June 6th, we are confident that we can recommence monthly meetings from JULY and we are still planning to hold our annual fair for SEPTEMBER at this stage. Our committee met in person this week for the first time for months, so things are gradually returning to normal....
