17.01.2022 HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

16.01.2022 In Prep, we work hard to ensure that our learning is age appropriate and that students can contribute their ideas and interests to their learning. After showing an interest in the Titanic, students in Prep C had the opportunity to collaboratively plan with their teacher. This inquiry, gave them a great opportunity to build on their real-world understandings and experiences. Students worked together, to build the Titanic. A creative experience that allowed them to later use... the prop for rich, imaginative role-play. They wondered how ships could float when they are so heavy. This lead us to investigate buoyancy by making foil ships of different sizes and learned that a ship with a greater surface area, could hold more rocks (weight) before sinking. We were keen to share our learning and did some highly self-motivated writing about the Titanic. To celebrate our learning, we had a guest speaker (thanks Mr Goodwin) and enjoyed a Titanic inspired high tea. The students were highly motivated throughout this self-driven learning experience.
