24.01.2022 While the Men’s & Women’s senior teams went through their paces at St Michael's College this morning a combination of an extended (u13) Ray Sutton Shield squad made up of 14 city & country players and a dozen u10 country cricketers had a session up at Ralli Park Showgrounds, Balaklava. Jacob Chapman and Brady Williams ran a clinic for the U10 while RSS coach, Callum Agnew and Lachie Pointon were out in the middle with the u13s. A great way to continue our push of developing junior players in both our city & country zones

23.01.2022 Few Eagles making the front page of the advertiser today, assuming fines will apply!

22.01.2022 Congratulations to Emily and Kent Sendy on the birth of Charlie Kent Sendy at 7.24am today weighing in at 7lbs. Love and best wishes from everyone at West Torrens.

19.01.2022 A quick Q&A with eagle captain Daniel Drew thanks to Stump to stump, keep an eye out for a great snap of teammate Patrick er!!

19.01.2022 Marc & Co Building Solutions have been a very generous sponsor to the club over the past few years, they’ve won numerous HIA Awards, including Bathroom up to $35k, Kitchen from $35k-55k and Kitchen of the Year for 2020. Here’s something a little different they’ve done locally at Brooklyn Park. Absolutely stunning. If you are considering building or renovating please get in touch.

18.01.2022 While it looks like we will have at least a couple of weeks off due to current Covid restrictions, feel free to stop in at the SACA you tube channel and watch some of the action from previous weeks. This clip even has some timely advice for bowlers when in action against Gibbo! https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=_ETwrMXKnr8

17.01.2022 Some footage of our recent visit to Foodbank in conjunction with Cricket Australia & South Australian Cricket Association and with help from our great sponsors down at Ous Property. Thanks to our representatives from our Men's, Women's & Junior playing groups for helping out board members Peter Hutton & Kent Sendy to pack over 150 food boxes for SA families in need.

16.01.2022 Congratulations to WT all rounder/treasurer Ben Williams on his appointment to umpire his first Div 1 footy final this weekend.

16.01.2022 Fantastic news! Let’s hope Spencer gets a chance on the big stage. Johnson’s left-arm fast bowling will also bring more firepower to the Strikers’ attack, long touted to be in the Mitchell Starc mould, he even once body-doubled for the Australian quick in a promotional shoot. The 24-year-old spent three seasons on the West End Redbacks rookie list off the back of a standout year with West Torrens in 2016-17, which saw him steer the club to all three Premier Cricket First Gra...de championships. At his peak, Johnson can clock speeds up to 140-145km/h, with his considerable pace primed for the Big Bash League.

16.01.2022 Thanks to the great supporters of the club that have already ordered their Non-Playing Membership this season. 15.01.2022 Photos from Sunday afternoon’s Senior Trophy Presentation to celebrate the 2019/20 season. Great to have the bulk of our Women’s 1st Grade Premiers in attendance to finally receive their Premiership and lift the trophy. All were in great spirits after earlier in the day defeating Sturt. Notable absentees were Tahlia McGrath & Amanda Wellington who are currently away playing for the Strikers in the WBBL. Daniel Drew & Bailey Capel took out the major male playing awards while... Denis Brien finally got his name on the FLINDERS UNIVERSITY CC PRESIDENT’S AWARD (Presented to the volunteer who is the most outstanding contributor to female cricket at West Torrens during the season). Other volunteers to receive recognition were Catherine Terry (Skippy Keville award - Best Club Person) with Mick Davison & Marty Edmunds joint winners of the Kevin Smith Memorial Award for service to Junior Cricket. A big thank you to Michelle Capel for all her organization and our MC Andrew Capel who always brings an air of professionalism to these events.

15.01.2022 Another first for the Eagles... WT in conjuction with Cricket Australia & the South Australian Cricket Association hosted a Foodbank SA cook off to help raise awareness for the great work that Foodbank do in the community. It was a great night and something that we'd thouroughly recommend to any other sporting clubs looking to partner, with a very professional organization, to help spread the message of kindness into the greater community. ... 13.01.2022 We are very happy to announce our lastest recruit. After taking 46 wickets over the past two seasons in Victoria’s premier competition and having signed a rookie contract with the Redbacks earlier this year, Footscray Cricket Club spearhead Jordan Buckingham will be an Eagle. He’ll join Striker contracted Spencer Johnson in a fearsome new ball partnership for season 2021/22. We look forward to helping Jordan take his cricket to the next level and break into the first class arena soon.

12.01.2022 It’s with deep sorrow that we share the news of Eagle Legend Kevin Lewis’ passing. Kevin (born 27 November 1947) played in three first-class matches for South Australia in 1981/82 and is one of the leading wicket takers for our club dismissing 476 batsmen with his crafty leg spinners while wearing his beloved eagles cap #331. In later years Kevin was an instrumental figure in the clubs very successful move to Henley Oval and spent countless hours with junior players. He spent... many more working on the pitches for the club. Our current curator was lucky enough to have Kevin first teach him the art of preparing cricket pitches so his legacy will live on through players, attitudes & facilities for many many years to come. Our thoughts and best wishes are with his two sons Tom & Sam and the rest of Kevin’s family at this sad time.

12.01.2022 Last cricket season Craig Dodson, a 42-year-old cricket tragic, set a world record by playing 11 games of cricket for 11 different clubs across Australia, while raising funds for mental health. Craig travelled over 10,000 kms, pulling on the whites for a diverse mix of fantastic clubs. He found himself trapped by a bushfire, travelling 1600 kilometres one day just for a Golden Duck and was given a hand by greats of the game like Greg Chappell and Darren Lehmann along the way.... Craig went through a battle with depression a decade ago and, thankfully, came out the other side. He committed himself to using the tour to raise funds for mental health as well as helping people along the way by sharing his story. Craig has now turned his adventure into a book (with all proceeds going to charity). If you are interested in having a great read about cricket, while supporting a good cause, please grab a copy via this link for only$20 https://inhousebookstore.com.au//a-view-of-australia-from-

12.01.2022 Lots of cricket being played outside of SACA club competitions over the last week with many Eagles taking part. WT had a heap of players playing in the SACA Representative Carnival in both u14s & u12s. On the last day of the carnival Mark Wenz made 33 and took 1/1, Matt Ross made 15no & took 1/13 and James Turner added 28no for WSJCA in the u12s, while Archie Robertson took 3/21 in the u14s. Archie finished with 10 wickets which was equal most in the minor round for the tourn...ament. Our Yorke Peninsula country zone also had teams playing in the tournament with Tom Dolling, our u14 whites captain, leading the way with the bat making 74 @18.50, while Harry Kakoschke took 7 wickets for the u14s. Maggie Clark represented Mid North in the u12s and finished with 96 runs (@48) to be the 4th leading scorer in the comp. Maggie also had a great game in the scorpions city v country match with 2/22 off 6 last Sunday. First graders, Murphy Short & Lachie Pointon played a couple of games for the SA outback’s, Murphy making 54no, batting at 8, and hitting the winning runs against the SA u19s on Thursday. We have three players playing in the BBL as well as Spencer Johnson awaiting his chance with the Strikers. Finally, Daniel Drew is about to jump on a to head down to Tassie to play a second XI game. We look forward to some big scores and bags of wickets for those guys too.

10.01.2022 Great news as Katie Mack, who turned out for a game with us last year is back to join the Adelaide Strikers for WBBL06. Good luck to Katie & the other eagles already named in the squad!

10.01.2022 Our 2019/20 Team of the Year in Batting Order; Bailey Capel (575 runs @52.27), Brianna Cheetham (508 @39.08), Daniel Drew (593 @59.30, 16 wickets @27.38), ... 09.01.2022 Tahlia McGrath one of the highest scores from any form of cricket around the nation over the last weekend. Was the second highest score ever for a West Torrens female. She was partnered in a record breaking unfinished 4th wicket stand of 172 by Ange Treloar. Also during the game, Jess Joseph became the first West Torrens woman to take 6 wickets in an innings twice.

08.01.2022 Some fun facts about T-Mac

08.01.2022 Callum Ferguson having a chat with Rowey & Bicks on 5aa 1395 at 4:30pm today.

07.01.2022 We have another couple of great additions to our coaching ranks for the 2021/22 season. Firstly, welcome back Specialist bowling consultant & team motivator in his, Trent Kelly’s, very own words. If history is anything to go by, having Trent involved is a key ingredient to having a very successful season.... Wes Thomas, Hookes Medalist in the 06/07 premiership (team pictured below), will also help out Youngy with more specialist batting coaching for some of our senior squad. Will be fantastic to have them back in an official capacity and I’m sure they’ll be a great addition to undoubtedly the best coaching team in SA grade cricket. In the junior space we also welcome back past players James Minigall and Simon Kreig who will coach the u16 & u14 teams.

07.01.2022 This is what our leading wicket taker from last season, Josh Dascombe has been up to for the last few months after moving across to the US to help grow cricket in America.

07.01.2022 A great option for tonight’s dinner before we all have to fend for ourselves for a while

07.01.2022 Wishing WT legend Denis Brien a very happy 80th Birthday today. Great initiative to celebrate it with a public holiday!!

07.01.2022 How's this for a belter of a caught and bowled from Nick Maegraith! MyCricket

06.01.2022 Some interesting stuff from the US where Josh Dascombe is helping to push the boundaries of world cricket.

06.01.2022 Great to see young Eagle Daniel Drew (24yo) amongst the runs in the Redback trial game with a measured 69 off 87 balls.

05.01.2022 Latest episode (number 90!) from the boys at We Got The Chocolates with a fair bit of Cricket chat, a lot of hilarity and a guest appearance from one of our very own.

04.01.2022 Pizza = Kidman Park Pizza House, the best in the west!

04.01.2022 More progress down at Henley Oval with additional turf pitches (2 extra ones to the left of existing in main picture). Digging under way to remove concrete at bowlers end of the artificial pitches which will be replaced by a full slab and totally new artificial turf. All the above has been funded via a State government grant (50%), club funds (20%) a local government (City of Charles Sturt) grant (15%), and we’ve just had the official documentation come through from SACA/CA ...that our ACIF grant has also been approved (15% of total cost of over $100k). Finally a (but only from the outside as no spare hard hats or high vis vests) at the new family friendly women’s/unisex changerooms. The changerooms have been delivered in a joint effort with HFC, state government, SANFL, SACA & city of Charles Sturt Council (I think that’s everyone)!

03.01.2022 Good win for us in round one of the u18 shield. Bowling a very strong Adelaide batting line up out for just 144 was a fine effort with quick Jared Zunic 3/22 (6 overs) leading the way, ably assisted by swing bowler Chandan Saddi 2/25 (10) and fellow quick Jack Hawke 2/33 (off 8 overs). Spinners Nathan Marshall 2/20 (7), Ollie Ellicott (0/9 off 5) and Sean Feleppa 0/20 from 8 were also instrumental in the fantastic bowling performance. Kyle Leiblich chipped in by taking the first wicket, finishing with 1/11 and Luke Edmunds took 4 catches! In reply, Ned Maguire posted 80 and Luke Edmunds made 40 in an opening partnership of 115 with Luke Terry & Pat Taylor knocking off the rest for the win in the 40th over.

03.01.2022 Few WT boys making the lists of most runs/wickets at one of our local Community Clubs including current assistant coach Brad Young.

02.01.2022 Our first paid up Non-Playing Member this year was the one and only Gerard Treloar (GT). This is GT’s 4th season as women’s team manager and 3rd season on the women’s committee. He throws, catches and bowls a lot of balls at trainings and on game days, he helps the coaches and goes the extra mile to help the players (regularly supplying lollies, sports drinks, ice and preparing cool neck ties). At home games he brings his tools to adjust sight screens (they nearly always ne...ed to be turned around after men’s games) and puts out chairs and the scoreboard. GT has recently attended a concussion forum for the club and organised to meet with coaches and other team managers to educate and set important and consistent procedures around concussions for all grades (senior and junior). He collected and reviewed the 1st aid kits and subsequently replaced them all (with club funds) to ensure all teams had the same comprehensive kits. He ensured they were made available to all teams before their first games of the season. GT has placed a concussion management summary inside each kit, to help coaches and managers properly manage concussions. GT has also put his contact details inside each kit, for teams to contact him to ensure all kits remain fully stocked through the season. On top of this he is always on hand to make sure Ange Treloar is getting all the throw-downs and catches she needs to be at the top of her game. Be like GT - sign up for Non-Playing Membership today! #belikeGT https://form.jotform.com/203192263655859

02.01.2022 If in need of some restocking next week, make sure to keep Nova Vita Wines in mind...

02.01.2022 Women’s Teams for Round 4 Get along and show your support.

01.01.2022 Eagle Captain Daniel Drew chatting to the boys at We Got The Chocolates, with Leigh managing to slip in the Triple Premiership, lamenting the Covid ramifications leading to the demise of the Henley Oval Afternoon teas as well as a good chat about SA Grade cricket and State second Xl games. Drewy pops on his recruiting hat while the boys spend a bit of time talking about selection issues and they promise to bring out a new range of stickers for Daniel to plaster all over his bat. Plenty of ways to listen via the website at https://www.wegotthechocolates.com.au/ and we thank Leigh for finally coming clean and telling the boys that he signed the crew up as Daniel's player sponsor for 2020/21.
