17.01.2022 Looking for volunteers! Western Emergency Relief Network (WERN) is looking for volunteers to lend their time to our great cause. Our purpose is to change everyday lives for those marginalised in our community by providing them with donated household items. These roles are mainly based in a warehouse and include sorting, receiving and cleaning and also includes some transport.... If you would like to donate your time, be a part of a great cause and an awesome team, send us a message for more information. We hope to see you around the warehouse soon!

15.01.2022 Western Emergency Relief Network's call for Volunteer Assistance The Board, Committee and current Volunteers at WERN are super keen to reopen and get back to serving our community once again. WERN is a non-profit Incorporated Association registered as a charity with the Australian Charities and Non-Profits Commission and holds Designated Gift Recipient status with the Australian Tax Office. WERN comprises of interested community groups and volunteers, designed to supply good ...quality second-hand furniture, electronic and white goods, to people in need without charge. We do understand however that safety guidelines and regulations need to be adhered to during these unprecedented times and the safety of our volunteers and other partners involved with the WERN program remains paramount. Procedures are currently being finalised in line with Volunteering Victoria guidelines in making sure that we continue to have a safe workplace for all concerned. Current stage 3 restrictions require WERN to follow Government guidelines which do vary dependent on Age groups. For those within the age group of 18 to 49, you are able to volunteer abiding by some simple common-sense guidelines. For Age groups above 50 years old or having other contributing health issues, do have some further volunteering conditions with their safety in mind. Our Volunteer base and activities at WERN range from low to high-risk categories but everyone is welcome. Our call out today is particularly for assistance from volunteers that fit into the lower risk category. For those in that higher risk category, should you see yourself fit, healthy and able to volunteer, we have low-risk roles available for you as well from administration to simple sorting and packing duties, some on-site and others off-site and home-based. Our volunteering days are Tuesdays to Thursdays predominantly, Mondays and Saturdays where needed. Should EITHER or ALL of these days suit, we would love to hear from you. We have a great, friendly team at WERN and would welcome your assistance. Being connected is the essence of volunteering. Should you wish to know more about what and how we go about what we do to assist those in need, please visit our website at www.wern.org Our location is in Derrimut, volunteering hours are flexible and generally between the hours of 10am and 3pm.

14.01.2022 Thank you again to those Rotary Clubs and volunteers that help WERN with the furniture delivery to the bushfire affected regions of Victoria. This is a great feature in East Gippsland News!

12.01.2022 WERN's purpose summed up beautiful by those who lend their time to help those in need. As Ross Butterworth explained in his post, Western Emergency Relief Network (WERN) was established to assist those people in our community in crisis. From domestic violence, homelessness, refugees, mental health, fire and flood, there are many reasons for crisis and need. Rotary Clubs around the west of Melbourne are taking action every single day along with our many partner agencies helping those in need of help. If you can donate household goods or have the time to volunteer a few hours per month please message our Facebook page Western Emergency Relief Network - WERN for more information or email [email protected].

06.01.2022 Thank you to Dan Andrews for the great words. Congratulations to the team for their hard work throughout the year, it’s great to have some recognition from the Premier himself. If you would like to know more about WERN and our efforts, please visit our website www.WERN.org

03.01.2022 We are back! Thanks to all that volunteered at WERN's working bee today. Lots sorted that is now ready for distribution. If you would like to get involved and volunteer with WERN, get in contact with us through our Facebook!

01.01.2022 WERN's road trip to East Gippsland delivering requested furniture to Rotary Fire Relief today. Items included kitchen tables and chairs, bedding, fridges, washing machines, cutlery, toasters and kettles. On arrival, Robyn and her team of helpers from the Bairnsdale Sunrise Rotary Club assisted in unloading our truck. Some big hugs and thankyou's were had before turning around and heading back home. WERN couldn’t do this without the efforts of many, in particular "the organi...ser" Ross Butterworth, Warehouse Manager and assistant David Hall and Ken Daley and the team at EERN for the supply of more mattresses. A big thank you goes out to WERN Chair Tony Ebejer and Volunteer Troy Willems for giving their day up and making the 11hour round trip today. ROTARY CONNECTS THE WORLD
