25.01.2022 Thank you to Maddison Temelkovski, one of our alumni from the Class of 2009, for reconnecting with our school to advise and inspire our current students!

24.01.2022 Beautiful morning to farewell our Year 12 students today with a breakfast with staff and then a day of adventure ahead filled with "livewire" action. Enjoy your last official day together :)

24.01.2022 RUOK? We actively encourage all our staff, students and those in our community to check in on your family, friends and colleagues tomorrow, and each day of the year. Remember, there's more to say after R U OK? ... 1. Ask 'R U OK'? 2. Listen (understand) 3. Encourage action (what can I do to support you?) 4. Check in (follow up, care) Learn what to say after R U OK? At www.ruok.org.au

23.01.2022 Today I joined Dan Andrews to outline our roadmap out of lockdown. Importantly it includes some significant announcements for schools and early childhood servic...es I want to share with you. Students will begin returning to school next term in a careful, staged approach. For the first week of Term 4, all students will continue to learn remotely, except senior secondary students doing VCE/VCAL essential assessments on-site and, for VCE students, the General Achievement Test (GAT) on 7 October. Students in regional and rural specialist schools can continue to attend on-site. From 12 October, metropolitan Melbourne students in Prep to Grade 2, VCE and VCAL and specialist schools will return to on-site learning. Teachers will only need to be on-site to deliver classes if their students are, or to provide supervision for students who need to attend on-site. Otherwise they are able to work from home. All regional and rural Victorian students will return to on-site learning from 12 October. Schools will have local flexibility to determine the best staged approach for different year levels, with all students to be back on-site by Friday 16 October. Students in Years 3 to 10 in metropolitan Melbourne will continue remote and flexible learning, with a decision on their on-site return to be made based on future health data and expert public health advice. Early childhood education and care will be open to all children from 28 September, with parents/carers no longer requiring a permit. Sessional kindergarten will be open for all children to attend at the start of Term 4, and eligibility for outside school hours care attendance will continue to align with schools. I know how hard this period has been on everyone. I want to take this opportunity to thank all our brilliant school and early childhood staff, parents, carers and most importantly students.

23.01.2022 Year 12 Birthday Celebrations! What better way to stay in touch with our Year 12 students than a special birthday morning tea on RUOK Day! We have been unable to continue our morning teas at school every 2 months so we decided to celebrate all of the July to December birthdays at once with an online get together. Students received a surprise treat from Truffleduck a smiley RUOK day cupcake, chocolate brownie and a yo-yo - delivered right to their homes and in some cases, ...their work places for VCAL students. A big Happy Birthday to all of our wonderful Yr.12 students. Nikki and Sophie were 2 of our happy Yr.12's to receive their treats at their work placement on Thursday.

19.01.2022 We were delighted to hear from WHC alum, Dr Stuart Minchin from the Class of 1988, who beamed into a Biology class all the way from New Caledonia! Stuart was full of valuable tips and insights into a career in science, see the video below for some highlights from the session.

19.01.2022 Was so good to have students on site today as our Year 12s returned to complete the GAT Test. Its been a test our students have been waiting to complete since June and although very different to normal with temperature checks and masks - all went off well. Monday can not come quick enough so we can have all our students back onsite

18.01.2022 Term 4 starts tomorrow Monday 5 October with at home and remote learning until - Friday 9 October. Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) and Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL) students (including Year 10 students enrolled in VCE or VCAL programs) can attend on-site for the General Achievement Test (GAT) on Wednesday 7 October and for any essential assessments across the week that teachers request they attend onsite to complete. From Monday 12 October all school students and staff at Western Heights College, including years 7 to 12 will return to on-site learning. We cant wait to see you both virtually and online this week and in person on-site next week! Bring it on!

12.01.2022 Time to get ready for summer! Some great activities on offer here for students, teachers and families

05.01.2022 Wonderful news for regional Victoria and us in Geelong. Regional Victoria will move to stage three of its coronavirus reopening plan from Thursday 17 September, meaning sitting in a restaurant, meeting up to 10 people outdoors, kids sport and travelling for a holiday/break in regional Victoria will all be allowed. Premier Daniel Andrews said the changes were possible because the daily average for new cases in regional Victoria was down to 3.6 and there had been no mystery ca...ses for two weeks. Read in ABC News: https://apple.news/AwRDrcRi9SZSlY3zHS5wQhQ A return to on-site school attendance plan for Western Heights College students will be released to our community prior to the end of term 3 for term 4.
