25.01.2022 German Shepherd puppy Jade enjoyed her first visit to the Hastings Vet Clinic yesterday, and her new ball from her puppy pack. Hopefully she will enjoy her vet visits for many years to come after a positive experience!

24.01.2022 Do you have any hollow logs? Our wonderful wildlife carer Jenny Bryant is in need of hollows to release rehabilitated possums in. They are placed in trees to provide an instant safe habitat. The best logs are 40+ cm length, and as light as possible. If so please contact one of our clinics and we can connect you with her.

24.01.2022 Happy New Year from Leo and Isaac, a pair of happy Kelpie x Beagle puppies we met during the week. We hope 2021 is full of health and happiness for all our WVC families. #westernportvets #happynewyear2021

22.01.2022 Penelope the rescue pug loves a trip to the vet to see Dr Kim. We loved this video her owner sent us of her patiently waiting for her vaccinations! If you are planning to head away this Summer (now that all the borders are down), make sure that your pets vaccinations are up to date. If they need a booster, contact our clinics to book an appointment ASAP.

22.01.2022 How old is your dog in human years? The answer is probably not what you think! New research into aging based on changes to DNA may be a better model than the old ‘7 dog years to one human year’. Use the calculator in the article below

20.01.2022 In the course of a week at WVC we see all creatures, great and small. From Kyon the 9 month old Irish Wolfhound who visited Dr Kirri, to a tiny orphaned kitten, cared for by kennel hand Alyssa.

20.01.2022 Thanks to all the hard work of all Victorians, we can celebrate elimination day today!

18.01.2022 Jessie the 14 year old Kelpie x enjoyed her rehabilitation session with nurse Claire this week. Claire is helping her get ‘back on her feet’ after a TPLO (knee surgery) a few months ago. There were plenty of treats to provide motivation!

18.01.2022 Cool runnings... This is Milo who has had recurrent, long healing corneal ulcers because he sticks his head in everything. His dad found Rex Specs to protect his eye from now on! #rexspecsk9 #westernportvet #labradorsofinstagram

17.01.2022 It was delightful to see ‘Daisy’ the Cavoodle for her 16 week vaccination last week. Like Daisy’s owner, we thank you for continuing to wear your mask inside our clinics.

16.01.2022 Westernport Vet Clinics will be closed tomorrow Tuesday 3rd November for the Melbourne Cup Day public holiday. We reopen normal hours on Wednesday 4th November. For emergencies outside of opening hours, contact the Frankston AEC on 9770 5555. Can you recognise any of the WVC team with their horses or ponies in the pictures below?

16.01.2022 Last week we had the pleasure of seeing Max again for his final puppy vaccination. Can you guess what breed he is? Hint: his breed was used for droving cattle in the southeast of England

14.01.2022 Ear mites... It’s not surprising they make puppies and kittens so itchy when you see them up close under the microscope. We feel itchy just looking at them!

14.01.2022 SANTA PAWS Santa Paws is on again on Sunday 13th December from 2-4pm. Like many things post-Covid, this year Santa paws will run a little differently.... Photos with Santa will be taken with pets only (no owners to abide by physical distancing measures) Please phone the clinic to book a time slot, so that we can manage people numbers You are welcome to bring your own camera or phone, or we can take a photo for you Santa paws is free, however any donations to Jenny’s Koala rescue would be gratefully received Have a look at some of the Santa Paws photos from the last decade at WVC! We are grateful to many of our staff members for donning the red suit over the years.

13.01.2022 I don’t suppose there are any more liver treats in there for me? Lily the Labrador waited expectantly after her appointment for more treats. It was lovely to welcome owners back into the clinic on Monday. We have missed you!

13.01.2022 Cheers big ears! Albert the 10 week old French Bulldog has some growing to do

12.01.2022 Meet Skye, the rare green and Golden Retriever! She had a great time rolling in grass clippings this morning before her appointment with Dr Abbey

11.01.2022 We wish our fabulous Dr Jess all the very best as she heads off on maternity leave. She and husband Mitch look forward to the arrival of their baby girl in the next month. #cantwaittomeether #missyoualready

10.01.2022 After a Covid-induced break, it was great to share a meal this week with WVC vets, and discuss the most recent updates on topics including separation anxiety in pets, radiography of the chest and abdomen, diabetes and responsible use of antibiotics. #neverstoplearning #westernportvets

09.01.2022 We were rather taken by ‘Ashka’ the miniature Schnauzer, who came to Somerville vet clinic for her puppy vaccinations this week. We think she’s adorable! Big brother Atticus isn’t so sure yet. #westernportvet #schnauzersofinstagram

09.01.2022 * Wildlife Wednesday * Can you recognise what sort of nestling this cute ball of fuzzy feathers is? As a hint the colours look nothing like the adult bird! After being found at Hastings foreshore with no sign of parents around, it was brought into our Hastings clinic, and after examination passed to our wonderful wildlife carer Jenny.

07.01.2022 ‘Sans’ the British Blue had a groom during the week at the Hastings Vet Clinic. Grooming removed so much hair that we were able to create a body double! #westernportvet #britishblue

06.01.2022 * Diary of a Wombat * Sometimes there are things that can’t be easily explained, like finding a misplaced wombat in a garden in suburban Mornington. This fella was brought to Hastings Vet to have a thorough examination by Dr Kirri. Under sedation X-rays and eyes tests were performed and a huge number of ticks were removed. After his clean bill of health he has been taken to a shelter for rehabilitation before being released in a more suitable habitat.... We wish we knew his story... if only they could talk! #westernportvets #wildlifemedicine #wombatsofinstagram #localvet #animaliawildlifeshelter #wildlifecarer

03.01.2022 Bill arrived in style for his vaccinations at Hastings #westernportvets #hondagoldwing

03.01.2022 * Stage 4 Restrictions * We are back into stage 4 lockdown again, and so there are a few changes in our clinics for (hopefully) only the next 5 days. Carpark consults with contactless care (no owners in the clinic) - please phone on arrival from your car, and we will come and collect your pet for their consultation. ... Short term postponement of non-urgent appointments for the next 5 days (including adult vaccinations). Phone the clinic if you are unsure to discuss your pets needs. We are still here during regular hours to provide essential care for your pet, and travel is permitted for this reason. We thank you again for your support. The team at WVC

02.01.2022 ‘Wallace’ the 9 week old Labrador has been enjoying safe socialisation and learning good behaviour at puppy school with our nurse Sally. Wallace is working hard on not chewing his lead and sitting for attention. His owner 12 year old Lachie is learning not to pay him attention when he barks, and when to intervene with raucous puppy play. It is wonderful to see their shared learning!

01.01.2022 Balnarring Vet Clinic will be CLOSED Monday 15th February. For consultations, repeat medications and over the counter purchases please contact Hastings Vet Clinic on 59791214.
