25.01.2022 Caught on camera - thieves breaking into our facilities looking to steal copper cabling. Copper theft is an issue not only for us but across several industries here in WA as it can be sold to scrap metal merchants. To tackle this issue, the Police Minister has announced that the resale of copper is going to be regulated, hopefully minimising crime like this in the future.... If you see damage or vandalism to the network, call us on 13 13 51. But if you see someone acting sus around the network, call the police

24.01.2022 ALBANY OUTAGE UPDATE: 2:50PM We have restored power to approx 6,500 customers, mainly in the Albany region. Around 9,400 customers remain without power, and we expect the majority of these to be restored this evening (Denmark, Albany and surrounds). Unfortunately, there may be some customers who will remain without power overnight. If you haven’t had your power restored by 8pm, please make alternative plans where necessary. More info: https://bit.ly/3wObawa... The damaging winds threw branches into powerlines as you can see from these photos. Gaining access to some areas has been difficult due to road closures from flooding and debris. Today we had a peak of 53 hazards related to 250 faults, and all have now been attended to and made safe, which allows repairs to occur. Mount Barker has approx 1,000 customers without power. Crews are still clearing hazards. Our crews will continue to repair the faults into this evening, with our Network Operations Centre monitoring 24/7 as usual. A helicopter is still patrolling the network and crews from our Picton, Vasse and Bridgetown depots will stay in the area to support the local crews. Please be assured we are working as quickly as possible to safely restore power to customers. If you’ve experienced an outage of more than 12 hours, you can apply (once power is reconnected) for an extended outage payment: https://bit.ly/383P7oV If you see any network damage, stay 8m clear and make the safe call to us on 13 13 51. 23.01.2022 Today on Remembrance Day, we remember those who died or suffered in armed conflicts. Some of our employees served in the Australian Defence Force, including Freya Barsby and Matt Cheney, and so this day has a particularly personal significance to them. Freya joined the Navy as a Combat Systems Operator and says today "is a day I give a silent thank you to veterans who, at all stages of history, have served so that we can enjoy the freedoms that we do.... Matt served in the RAAF for 8 years and says the Airforce taught him the importance of service to country, community and to one another in a way I’d not known before. "And in a year that has been truly challenging, it’s a great time to put our own challenges into perspective and take stock of just how truly blessed we are here in WA, says Matt. Thank you to all those who have, or continue to, serve in our armed forces. #RemembranceDay

22.01.2022 Did you know a world-first energy trial has been happening right here in WA? In Fremantle, 48 households have been trading their rooftop solar energy and setting their own electricity prices. How does it work? Known as peer-to-peer trading, residents buy and sell their electricity using the existing electricity network - our grid - and Power Ledgers blockchain technology platform. 22.01.2022 To our Australind customers, we’ve been investigating the power quality issues some of you have been experiencing this week. Our crews discovered Western Corella birds have been damaging the power pole conductors. As you can see from the photos, the damage was significant enough to cause major problems. In response, the conductors have now been reinsulated and we've installed some bird diverters to prevent the issue from happening in the future. We thank you for your patience whilst we worked through this issue.
22.01.2022 STORM UPDATE Our crews continue to work on damaged parts of the network that have resulted from todays weather. This tree was felled by strong winds and hit powerlines on the way down, causing over 2000 customers to be left without power in Denmark. All power has now been restored to the area.... With more wild weather predicted for later this evening, remember to store away any loose items that could be blown into and damage powerlines. If you see a fallen powerline or network damage, stay 8 metres away and #makethesafecall to us immediately on 13 13 51. >> We encourage affected customers to check our outage page for estimated restoration times: https://bit.ly/2C8AdTo
