25.01.2022 NSW Health authorities have asked NSW residents to wear masks in public and avoid non-essential travel and high risk social gatherings. NSW Health is particularly concerned about transmission in venues such as hotels and restaurants, the gym and social gatherings.

24.01.2022 After 6 months of COVID, the chaos and confusion at borders just keeps growing. Thanks to Victorian Transport Association - VTA for calling it out. There is a limit to the transport industry tolerance of ever changing, inconsistently applied rules. Ultimately transport companies will need to make commercially driven decisions as to whether the increasing administrative costs and uncertainty make the ongoing provision of cross border services viable. Big shout out to our ot...her state associations who we have worked together with to keep things moving across borders, Queensland Trucking Association Ltd , NatRoad, Road Freight NSW, Tasmanian Transport Association and NT Road Transport Assoc. Also to Australian Logistics Council who have helped provide national representation when needed. https://www.fullyloaded.com.au//national-freight-chaos-thr

24.01.2022 SUPPORTIVE SIGNS FOR ROAD SAFETY An overhaul is needed for the way road signs are positioned around our State. Vince Catania MP Member for North West Central ...says inadequate signage is contributing to too many accidents on our regional roads. Today in Parliament he tabled a petition with 3000 signatures calling on the State Government to allow an independent, bipartisan committee look at Main Roads signage policies and practices. #RegionalAlways Western Roads Federation, Caravan & Camping WA, Caravan & Camping Industry, Tourism Council Western Australia, RAC WA, Kimberley Pilbara Cattlemens Association

22.01.2022 Today we hit the mainstream media defending the transport industry against claims its a COVID risk. On ABC, 6PR and in The West we have defended the industry and demonstrated how we helped instigate a national approach to practical measures that can protect our industry, our drivers and the community. Thanks to Wade Jolly for stepping in to put forward great case on ABC Perth.

21.01.2022 The red imported fire ant (RIFA) Quarantine Area around parts of Fremantle has been extended until the end of the year (4 December 2020). 14.01.2022 From Queensland Trucking Assn Ltd ***URGENT NOTICE FOR PEOPLE WHO HAVE VISITED CASULA (NSW) - CROSSROAD HOTEL BETWEEN 3-10 JULY*** 1. YOU MUST IMMEDIATELY SELF-QUARANTINE AND GET TESTED FOR COVID-19... The Queensland Chief Health Officer has advised us of a major developing COVID-19 threat for anyone who has visited Casula in New South Wales between the 3rd and 10th July and in particular the Crossroads Hotel. The Crossroad Hotel is a popular pub on the Hume Highway in South West Sydney and is a stop for many tourist and truck drivers travelling between Victoria, NSW and Qld. As this is a second generation COVID-19 spread, the Qld Chief Health Officer is asking anyone who fits this criteria and was in the Casula area between the dates in question to immediately quarantine and get tested for COVID. #COVID19Aus

14.01.2022 Due to the evolving situation in New South Wales, effective from 11.59pm Sunday 19 July significant additional restrictions will be in place for anyone wanting ...to enter WA from NSW. These tougher restrictions will be in place for an initial two week period as we continue to monitor the developing situation in NSW. This is necessary to keep WA safe. You must meet the tougher exemption criteria to be allowed to enter WA if you have been in or travelled through NSW in the previous 14 days. Anyone entering from NSW must undertake testing for COVID-19. Travellers will be required to undertake mandatory 14-day quarantine, unless exempt. Significant conditions and penalties will be enforced by the WA Police Force. We know the restrictions are inconvenient for a lot of people for various reasons, however, these measures are necessary to protect Western Australia. The WA Police Force is working hard to process the large volumes of exemption applications. To find out more, visit our website: https://www.wa.gov.au//dep/covid-19-coronavirus-travel-wa To apply for an exemption, check that you meet the exemption criteria before completing your application via the G2G Pass website: https://www.g2gpass.com.au/apply

13.01.2022 Important controlled interstate border update as at 15 November 2020. Changes have been made to WA's controlled border for arrivals from South Australia, ef...fective immediately. Anyone arriving from South Australia will be required to enter self-quarantine for 14 days and be tested for COVID-19. More information: https://www.wa.gov.au//annou/changes-was-controlled-border From Saturday, 14 November at 12.01am, Western Australia will transition to a safe and sensible controlled border arrangement based on the latest public health advice. Currently, New South Wales and Victoria are classed as low risk states. This means that travellers who have been in ‘low risk’ states and territories in the last 14 days will still be permitted to enter WA with conditions on arrival including a declaration, health screening and a possible COVID-19 test. Travellers will be required to: Self-quarantine for 14 days at a suitable premises Present for a COVID-19 test on Day 11 If you transit through a ‘low risk state’ you will also have to self-quarantine for 14 days and present for a COVID-19 test on Day 11. Failure to follow these directions or providing false information will be enforceable by law, with penalties ranging from $1,000 infringements to up to $50,000 fines for individuals. 11.01.2022 Hear first hand what the donation of 4 containers of goods means to Wunan Foundation, East Kimberley Job Pathways and Revive and the special thanks given to ACFS Port Logistics and Keys Moving Solutions and to all our other WRF members including GVR Transport, Aladdin Transport, BP, G&S Transport, Traumasim who contributed

10.01.2022 My Waste to Wages Roadtrip to Kununurra, in partnership with Revive, ACFS Port Logistics, KEYS - The Moving Solution and the Western Roads Federation is almost ...ready to go! Yesterday we received the artwork for the project which was inspired by indigenous designs sourced by my very dear friend Ian Trust, Chair and Executive Director of the Wunan Foundation. The artwork has been fixed to the side of the containers to mark the journey. Also, a couple of weeks ago I had the pleasure of collecting my last piece of furniture for the project which was generously donated by a WA Labor party member all the way down in Margaret River, approximately 280 kilometers and 3 hours south of Perth. John rang me up to offer a brand new bed set that hadn’t been used so I took the opportunity to drive down, collect the bed and thank him myself. I’ve been blown away by the support I’ve received for this project and I look forward to keeping you all updated on my journey which starts on Monday morning. Have a great weekend!

08.01.2022 WA borders opening to low risk states on 14 Nov is extremely welcomed by the WA Road Transport industry it will go some way to removing the pressure on the our operators. In the interim Operators can contact WRF about the recently negotiated border solution for Transport to get drivers and specialist staff in.

08.01.2022 NEW SA Border Travel Direction No 9 issued today, takes effect 1 minute past Midnight Sunday Morning 19th July There are NO changes for trucking and the new TES...TING requirements and fines for not taking a test do NOT apply to Trucking Essential Travellers. SARTA has worked closely and consistently with the Premier and SAPol including when they were considering further restrictions due to the Casula Cluster at the Crossroads Hotel, Western Sydney. Our arguments that no changes were needed re trucking were accepted. ONE Thing we have sought clarification on is the application of Clause 8(1) requiring face masks this MAY mean that Vic Resident HV drivers must wear masks when not in quarantine and not in their truck . The requirement (for Vic HV ETs only) is to wear them when in contact with the public There is no definition, still, of PUBLIC but from discussions with SAPol and SAHealth this week we expected the new direction to make clear that VIC Resident HV drivers must wear a mask in SA when not in their truck and not in quarantine. Clearly it would be wise for Vic resident HV drivers, ie who fall under Schedule 2 of the Direction and who must quarantine in SA when not working, to also wear face masks at all times, including when visiting depots and customers premises.

08.01.2022 We need a third sealed transcontinental highway, linking WA to Qld, thats why WRF and NTRTA support sealing the entire out back way.

07.01.2022 Works are now underway on one of our first projects funded through the Regional Road Safety Improvement Program. Shoulder sealing has started along Great Easte...rn Highway in Merredin heading towards Kellerberrin, with works between Merredin and Walgoolan to follow. Completion is expected in October. Up to 1,800 vehicles use the highway each day in the Wheatbelt, with 40 per cent being heavy vehicles. These treatments greatly reduce the number of run off road crashes, which can result in severe trauma and are more common in regional areas. The McGowan Government secured a $100 million funding partnership with the Commonwealth Government to boost the Regional Road Safety Improvement Program, improve road safety and support local jobs.

07.01.2022 Sad news and a real loss for the industry. Big Rigs National Road Transport Newspaper gave WA industry a voice on the national stage. 06.01.2022 Recently I posted about a project I’m organising in partnership with Revive in Kununurra to support indigenous families in the East Kimberley. I wanted to provi...de you with an update. Since I put the call out for donations of unwanted furniture, my office has been inundated with calls and emails from extremely generous rank and file WA Labor party members and people who heard about the project, offering to donate and support this exciting project. I am pleased to report that I now have a road train full of donated furniture that I will be loading and driving to the Revive Team at East Kimberley Job Pathways in Kununurra later this month, therefore, we cannot fit anymore furniture in. I am really looking forward to dusting off the cobwebs and putting my skills that I gained prior to entering Parliament to good use in the East Kimberley where I cut my teeth as a young truck driver. Thank you to everyone who has reached out and I look forward to keeping you updated on my journey from Perth to Kununurra via my Facebook page. An even bigger thanks to Nick, Bruno, Knobby, Doyley and Dave at KEYS - The Moving Solution in Canning Vale who today loaded all of the furniture into a pan and two containers so they are ready for the journey. I’ve invested heavily into a good supply of Epsom salts and anti inflammatory’s for tonight’s recovery session! After all that work, I really enjoyed catching up with old mates and sharing some old tales in between grunts and groans. You guys have definitely earned a cool drink or two today! Hope I wasn’t too much in the way!

05.01.2022 Thoughts? 1. WA already has its own heavy vehicle regulator. 2. We could get better roads and rest areas as GST and Fuel Excise would be spent in WA instead of being used to subsidise the East as happens now.... 3. We could hold our own Grand Final without those sooks in the AFL commission. 4. As a new country, Western Force would be back in the Super Rugby comp. 5. Our new WA national hockey team, would immediately be the World's number one side. 6. Any others? Remember its Sunday morning so dont take this to seriously. https://www.news.com.au///a5ee1eff9dea8fa03764d2e44a36daac

04.01.2022 Our NSW counterparts Road Freight NSW have advised that The NSW/Victoria border will close at 11.59pm on Tuesday 7 July. In effect in 36 hours. There are 55 border crossings on the Victoria/NSW border and there are many townships on this border. The border closure is going to be enforced on the NSW side by NSW Police and the ADF.... The Premier of NSW has stated that no one from Greater Melbourne and its surrounds will be able to cross the NSW border and enter NSW before the full border closure tomorrow night. Permits will be issued for essential workers movement across the border. As yet, we dont have information on what that means. I have advocated this morning to the Ministers staff responsible that our industry - freight - needs to be the same system as the QLD border. A dedicated lane and waved through with no delays. The Premier of NSW has said that the next 72 hours is going to be hard as people adjust to new systems.

04.01.2022 Western Australias border controls have been further tightened. No one will be allowed into WA if they have been in Victoria for the previous 14 days. If you do not have a pre-approved exemption to travel into WA you will most likely be turned around at the border/airport. If you have been in Victoria in the last 14 days you must apply for an additional exemption to enter WA. Approved exempt travellers permitted to enter WA will be given quarantine directions. ... Anyone who has been to Victoria in the last 14 days and is approved to enter WA will be need to complete a mandatory COVID-19 test on day 11. These stricter measures are because of the serious situation and level of community spread in Victoria. This is necessary to keep WA safe and limit the spread of COVID-19. More information is available on our website: https://www.wa.gov.au//victoria-arrivals-frequently-asked- To apply for an exemption, complete your application on the G2G Pass website: https://www.g2gpass.com.au/apply

04.01.2022 With just 20 days on shore Diesel reserves Western Australia is incredibly vulnerable to any fuel disruption. We need to bring fuel reserves on shore AND diversify our fuel. Thats why WRF is so active in fuel alternatives like hydrogen and battery electric. https://t.co/MwUlktQ0v6

04.01.2022 In a letter to a Government Minister this week, we made the following point that is worth noting. One critical but largely unrecognised factor in ensuring the continuation of community and business support has been our industries unheralded ability to keep the state supplied. Supply continuity inspires confidence in the community and business sectors.... That confidence translates to trust in Government leadership in the battle against the virus. 03.01.2022 My Waste to Wages Road trip from Perth to Kununurra to support families in the East Kimberley has begun! We took the opportunity this morning before we left to thank our other partners and to give you a look at the brand new prime mover which was generously donated by ACFS Port Logistics. 02.01.2022 From NT Road Transport Association NT HARD BORDER WITH VICTORIA AND OPENING OF BORDERS FROM 17 JULY 2020 Please be aware that the NT Chief Health Officer has revoked all Essential Worker exemptions (including for truck drivers) travelling into the NT from Victoria. The entire state of Victoria is deemed a hotspot. ... NTRTA is working with the NT Government to establish what solutions may be workable for the transfer of freight from Victoria through SA into the NT and vice versa. At this moment, the coronavirus.nt.gov.au website is inconsistent in its messaging on freight and exemptions and we have asked for clarification as soon as possible.. There will be further advice from the NT Chief Health Officer in advance of the NT borders with Qld, SA, NSW and WA opening on 17 July. I shall provide updates as more information is to hand. It is imperative that all transport operators have their COVID-19 Safety Plans in place that can be uploaded to relevant government websites for exemption, if required. Most importantly companies are requested to ensure appropriate protocols are implemented to collect sensitive personal information that may be used to assist in contact tracing should a positive case of coronavirus be detected. If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact me
