24.01.2022 The RYPMP program gave a unique opportunity to facilitate connection and friendships in young people from different cultural backgrounds. In turn, this created a wider understanding of both mentors and mentees on the diversity of our local community. Over 70% of our mentees found this connection to have a positive impact on their wellbeing demonstrating the importance of programs focused on community connection. We wanted to highlight the other organisations that we worked alongside in delivering this program. CORE Community Services @ims.org.au and Multicultural Council Of Wagga Wagga Inc. We have created a series of infographics to highlight some of the diversity and positive outcomes of the program. https://buff.ly/3gMcIhs.

17.01.2022 As Refugee Week officially starts this week under the theme of ‘Unity', we take this opportunity to highlight and celebrate individuals who have taken their strength, passion and skills to unite our community, supporting others that walk a similar path to settle and thrive as they begin to call Australia home. Our first is an individual who has been in the news a lot this week - Bashar Hanna OAM. His journey is inspirational. Those that know him describe him as a calm and compassionate soul, who brings joy and learning through music and song amidst genuine care for his friends, family and community. If you haven’t listened to his podcast, we think you should... https://wsmrc.org.au/ssd-podcast-episode-4-bashar/

16.01.2022 Every time we watched this it makes us smile. This years Refugee Week theme was Welcome. To honour this theme, we were able to weave together many beautiful messages of welcome. 10.01.2022 Today our CEO Kamalle Dabboussy celebrates his 17th anniversary at the MRC. He has kept this extremely quiet. We actually can believe that it's been 17 years. The wealth of knowledge he possesses, his connections and stories are a testament to the time he has unwaveringly devoted to the community. We encourage you to share any pictures you may have, any stories, the older they are the better! :) From all of us to you Kamalle - Congratulations. https://wsmrc.org.au/ceo-kamalle_dabboussy-celebrates-17-y/

09.01.2022 A huge congrats to Mr Al-Saadi on winning funds from Bond University Transformer LaunchPad pitching competition. 08.01.2022 We wanted to extend our congratulations to all the dedicated and passionate individuals recognised at the STARTTS and Refugee Council of Australia (RCOA) 12th NSW Humanitarian Awards recently. We see these faces regularly - more so on community zooms for the past few months. Be inspired by each of their stories and the work they undertake... get involved... advocate, support, lend a hand, help another to live their best life and fulfil their dreams. Sam Borka's two words of encouragement on our 2 Worlds 2 Words campaign was Dream Achieved... and this speaks volumes to the work he undertakes not only in an everyday capacity but also in his spare time and through his community leadership.

07.01.2022 Please get tested if you have symptoms.

06.01.2022 This county has the world’s oldest stories and journeys, the world’s first maps, and the earliest paintings of ceremony, culture and community. First Nations people have occupied and cared for this continent for over 65,000 years. We are blessed to have Uncle Malcolm sharing his journey and his generosity with us and our communities' children. He once said that he knows what is like to experience loss and grief, and never wants any child to ever feel that. The part that he plays in welcoming those that come here as refugees is crucial to not only their knowledge of Aboriginal history and heritage, but one that cements their connection to this land. Thank you for being our elder. Listen to part of his journey here: https://wsmrc.org.au/ssd-podcast-uncle-malcolm/ #NAIDOC2020 #NAIDOCWeek #alwayswasalwayswillbe

06.01.2022 Please be aware of the following rules.

06.01.2022 Mandaeanism is one of the oldest gnostic religions to date. It is believed to be at least 2,000 years old. Mandaeans are a small religious and ethnic group that follow the teachings of John the Baptist. They were mainly settled in Iraq and Iran, however, due to persecution and the on-going war, Mandaeans were forced to flee and are now settled in different countries all around the world. As the Mandaean New year is upon us, we hear from Jamal, one of our amazing volunteer about what this time means to him and how he celebrates with his family. https://buff.ly/2BNe39j
