19.01.2022 Rethink women’s health this #WomensHealthWeek and get answers to some of the most tricky and personal questions around female pelvic health with our Rethinking ...Health Podcast: ‘Common’ doesn’t have to mean normal. We spoke with the fantastic Chair of the APA Women’s, Men’s and Pelvic Health group, Cath Willis, about all things female pelvic health including bladder and bowel health, sexual dysfunction, endometriosis, pelvic pain, period pain, conditions relating to pregnancy, menopause and pre and post-surgery, and the impact all of this can have on mental health. Pelvic pain is debilitating and often embarrassing to discuss but rest assured, a visit to your women’s health physio can make a huge difference. #CommonDoesntMeanNormal #choosephysio Jean Hailes for Women's Health https://bit.ly/3hruibm

19.01.2022 Male incontinence is often overlooked, but is very disheartening to those affected. Many changes occur to the male urethra during prostate surgery, resulting in a level of reduced sensation post surgery. The best way to improve outcomes in this area is to seek advice from a trained men’s health physiotherapist who can assess and devise an appropriate pelvic floor exercise regime. Learning how to contract these muscles well prior to surgery, results in far better long term outcomes for the clients. Call or book online to see our men’s health physiotherapist for more information.

09.01.2022 TeleHealth available at Hoppers Physio You may wonder how can a physio consultation be completed online This is how:... Your history and your symptoms can tell physiotherapists a lot about the cause of your condition. A physical exam can still be performed through video analysis with feedback reported back to your physiotherapist. With the history and physical assessment a diagnosis can be made and a management plan can start. Your physiotherapist can provide you with advice, education and home management strategies. We can also provide you with home exercises for you to do at home and also monitor these over telehealth consults. If your condition requires a face to face consult- our physiotherapists can see you in our clinic and direct you to other health professionals if required. Telehealth can be used on a smart phone, tablet/laptop or desktop computer with a camera attached. Having a good internet connection is also important. The appointment will be run through Physitrack (the PhysiAPP can be downloaded free from your App store).

We are an established clinic in Hoppers Crossing under the arm of Hoppers Physio, with over 25 years history in the region and a strong referral base. The position is flexible, but a minimum one shift per week in the women’s and men’s health field, with opportunity for varied caseload involving musculoskeletal, clinical Pilates and Sports, if the therapist prefers.

06.01.2022 DRAM (abdominal separation) is a natural and normal part of pregnancy and childbirth. It’s important to understand a large part of separation will recover naturally within the first 6-8 weeks after having a baby, so even if you have separation from previous pregnancies, further repair can occur after subsequent babies, following good advice on correct exercise. Our advice is always to commence pelvic floor and abdominal exercise in a controlled and safe way from as early as possible, depending on the type and nature of your birth. This can be as early as day 2. It’s important to look for the ‘toblerone effect’ or ‘coning’ which can indicate progression too quickly. For a safe controlled exercise regime for DRAM please see Lauren or Sarah for an assessment at the clinic or via Telehealth.

06.01.2022 Our women’s health Physio, Lauren, discusses best toilet position to reduce strain and minimise pressure on the pelvic floor.

04.01.2022 Following the latest update from the Victorian Government there is no restriction to allied health treatment services. This means there is no criteria involved ...for you to access treatment or 1:1 exercise. At this stage there will be no group clinical exercise, hydrotherapy group classes or independent gym memberships. We are also very excited for Myotherapy and remedial massage services returning tomorrow.

02.01.2022 If you are pregnant or postnatal, don't hesitate to see Lauren or Sarah for an assessment. Have a look at what a post natal assessment entails in the link: http://westernwomensandmenshealth.com.au/post-natel-assess/

02.01.2022 Post Natel Assessments: It’s important to have your body assessed post baby by a qualified women’s health physiotherapist. The therapist will look for abdominal separation, pelvic floor concerns or weakness utilising real time ultrasound, set up an appropriate rehabilitation program for your core and pelvic floor, and provide relief of any neck, thoracic or lumbar/pelvic pain. They are also experts in breast care and mastitis, and have access to provide 1:1 clinical Pilates sessions to help your recovery. It’s best to attend between 4-8 weeks post natel for these sessions, depending on your type of birth. Lauren and Sarah are available in the clinic or via Telehealth so please call for your appointment on 97495110 or book online.

01.01.2022 Fully kitted up now, with eye protection and masks. We are still open for all your essential Physiotherapy care during stage 4 lockdown, and you can travel further than 5km for appointments. Pregnancy and the post natel period can be challenging at the best of times, let alone during a pandemic. We are here for all of your women’s and men’s health needs, either via face to face consults or Telehealth. Call or book online for an appointment with Lauren or Sarah.
