24.01.2022 I'm really enjoying the resin fill platters using natural edge timbers. I've even promised that Michelle gets to keep the sheoak one forever - I promise not to sell or give it away!

19.01.2022 We're back in Australia after three amazing years in Fiji. Have spent the last fortnight sorting out the garden, house and finally, the manshed. Whilst we sold a lot of timber before we left, there are still good stocks of all types available for woodworkers: pen blanks, knife blanks, bowl turning blanks, short slabs, boards and burls. My usual range of WA native hardwoods and burls: Jarrah, York Gum, Salmon Gum, Marri , Wandoo and Sheoak, Sugar Gum, Tuart and Banksia. Give me a ring or message me if you need to top up your ready to work stocks!

18.01.2022 What to do on a good wet windy Suva Saturday morning - run a marathon like the hard core, or lie in bed listening to the rain, then get up and do some wood working? I've been keen to try some local species of timber and after grabbing a few choice offcuts from Steve on Namuka island last weekend. First cheese/bread board in some lovely spalted Vesi hardwood came up nicely.

18.01.2022 I have a confession: within one month of making my wife a custom serving platter, I've given it away or sold it! I've never been able to hold on to these as they're very popular. The upside is, she always gets the newest designs and the very best of my work as my skills develop. I have promised, honestly and sincerely, that she'll get to keep this one. Sheoak boards with sparkly red resin fill and hand made wrought iron handles from the Blacksmiths Association of WA (BAWA).

17.01.2022 Just packed up this lovely bunch of pen blank beauties for a customer in Qld. At only $2 each, these WA native hardwoods and burls (and a couple of ring ins for added value) will help fend off those Covid iso blues! Free postage anywhere in Aus for orders over $50.

17.01.2022 Having lots of fun (and getting lots of exercise) sorting, cutting, sealing, making stickers, hauling, stacking and cranking down these piles of timber for the future. These will be dry in about 18 months time but I am prepared to sell them green if you're keen to grab your project timber now, 33% discount will apply to marked prices.

16.01.2022 I crafted this natural edge Jarrah and blue resin fill tasting platter with custom wrought iron handles for a friend's 60th. She seemed pretty happy with it! Having fun playing with resin.

16.01.2022 Now that WA is keeping a lid on Covid19, I feel comfortable in re-starting direct sales of timber again. We have good stocks of all types available for woodworkers: pen blanks, knife blanks, bowl turning blanks, short slabs, boards and burls. My usual range of WA native hardwoods and burls: Jarrah, York Gum, Salmon Gum, Marri , Wandoo and Sheoak, Sugar Gum, Tuart and Banksia. Some lovely and very dry salmon gum and Jarrah natural edged slabs. Give me a ring or message me if you need to top up your ready to work stocks!

13.01.2022 Our good friends on Namuka island in Fiji just gifted us this ingenious and simple, and remarkably comfortable, outdoor chair in Fijian Mahogany. It pulls apart easily for flatpak transport. Well done Kirsty.

11.01.2022 Wood carving take II. After burning out the motor on my small wood carver, I saw that as a sign to lash out and buy Arbortec's latest offering in their tool lineup, the ball gouge. It mounts to a standard 4 or 5" grinder and is a wicked little bugger! Takes out the meat of the wood very easily, although it took some practice to stop it running amok and taking out more than intended. A great tool to finish off these Fijian timber cheese and dip boards.

09.01.2022 Over the last few days I've prep'd up the largest resin pour attempted to date. Five platters cut and levelled, tape placed to stop sticking to base, frame made and sealed with heat gun, and every single clamp that I own attached to hold it all down. Three pours done so far, one more tonight before final curing and break out, then more leveling, sanding and oiling. The Jarrah, Sheaok and Marri platters will come up nicely with five different resin colours . I'll post more once these beauties are finished.

09.01.2022 Our 240 bottle Jarrah wine rack is now for sale. It's too big for our kitchen-to-be, so regrettably it must go to a better home. Height 2040, width 1280, depth 380. Price $500. ... No deliveries.

09.01.2022 I must say that this river flow resin stuff is good fun. First trial piece finished today, a natural edge Jarrah board with the edges facing inwards, I did two pours, a blue one side and sparkly red the other, just for comparison. The blue certainly makes the Jarrah contrast. Think I'll use the red for lighter coloured timbers.

09.01.2022 Just finished this stand up desk for my wife as she is now working mostly from home. Natural edge Jarrah slab that I had milled five years ago came up beautifully with some minor resin filling in the cracks. I loved making this piece, functional and fashionable.

09.01.2022 Green timber for sale! Very excited, I've taken delivery of over 2 ton of Jarrah and Wandoo from my miller. There's huge 3.5m x 400x 40mm Jarrah live edge slabs with burdseye feature, 4m x 230 x 40mm Jarrah boards, plus a heap of beautiful but extremely tough Wandoo slabs and boards, in lengths to suit coffee tables, side tables, cheese boards and platters. I've now sorted, cut and end sealed it all now for drying. But, I've decided to offer anyone the chance to purchase... their pick of these timbers and take them home now, in readiness for your next project, for only TWO THIRDS marked $$! This means you'll be able to select a huge piece of your choosing (or a small one) to ensure you get the size, colour and feature you're after. Initial photos attached, I'll post show more up once I get them priced up. Of course if you want dry timber, I still have good stocks from earlier years too, at my normal low price.

05.01.2022 Sorry I haven't posted much recently, still living life in Fiji so not doing any wood working, but have managed a break in the USA where I come across these lovely Sequoia slabs, probably 2,000 years old.

03.01.2022 Been wanting to do some mixed timber boards so whipped up two, a very hardwood one in Jarrah and Wandoo, and a medium hardwood version in Sheoak and Sugar Gum. Also carved a replacement cheese and biccie tray in Jarrah for Michelle, to replace the dozens I've made for her over the years then ended up selling them or giving them away! This one's definitely staying at home - trust me.
