23.01.2022 Our famous #thornlessBlackberries are starting to ripen, so it’s time for some more #pickTips!! Tip 1: The darker the better!! There is a reason they are called Blackberries! Tip 2: there are over 100 shades of black, so it can be tricky to get it right on color alone - Richard always says big bubbles, no troubles!! Look for the biggest darkest bubbles! Can you spot the difference in the berries pictured? All black, but 2 have those beautiful big bubbles and will be much tastier than the other two! Come for a pick today at Westerway or grab a punnet @farmgatemarket

Had to crop the video for Insta but here’s the rundown on our field favorites: #strawberries = 1+ week from ripening #raspberries = 2+ weeks from ripening #blackberries = 3+ weeks from ripening #silvanberries = 3+ weeks from ripening ... Remember, at the height of our season (mid December) we will also have #blueberries, #redcurrants, #blackcurrants, #josterberries and #Tayberries so will give an update on their progress soon! The berries are coming!!!

13.01.2022 Try as we might to extend our season with different berry varieties and growing locations, we can’t out run winter forever!! Our Farm Shop will stay OPEN with reduced hours - Friday to Monday from 10am until 4pm. We will be CLOSED Tuesday - Thursday but might flip the sign if the mood strikes, so keep an eye out if you are driving by! Shoot us a PM or give us a call if you have any queries!

08.01.2022 Exciting to see Grace on the front of today’s @themercuryphotos in a great article about the looming seasonal worker shortage in Tasmania given the closed mainland boarders. Our farm is fortunate that we have a solid workforce of local Tasmanians who have been picking with us for many years so don’t have to search too far BUT we highly recommend anyone get involved the Tasmanian Agricultural industry, and fruit picking is a great place to start! Best place to find fruit picking work this summer is on the Harvest Trail website where there will be a lot of jobs advertised closer to the summer season!

We have had a brilliant team this season in challenging COVID conditions and we send them off with a huge THANK YOU and a hopeful SEE YOU SOON! We hope that they, their friends, and maybe new friends, will join us again for the 2021/22 season - these valued workers along with our local picking / packing / shop front / processing teams are the backbone of our small family business!!

Our Farm Shop in Westerway is now officially CLOSED for the season - saving the fruit that is found for @salamancamarket and a few more weeks at @farmgatemarket!
