25.01.2022 This weekend, our Westgate Imperials representative teams have been playing in the Eltham Dandenong Junior Basketball Tournament, which is one of the biggest tournaments for the year. We're proud of all our teams for their hard work and the way they have represented Westgate. We wish the 11 teams that made it have through to the semi finals the best of luck in their games today!!

The Boys and Girls camps, are open to players of all skill levels, U10s to U18s and will on Tuesday March 31st at Recwest. Only 75 places available in each camp. 23.01.2022 Parking restrictions at VU Community Stadium Whitten Oval this Saturday 8th February 2020 The Western Bulldogs will be hosting an event at Whitten Oval this coming Saturday. This may disrupt parking at the Community Stadium. Please allow extra time to get Junior Domestic games at Whitten Oval this week.

22.01.2022 We regrettably announce the cancellation of the Junior Domestic Winter 2020 Basketball Season. The Domestic Competition Sub Committee met with club presidents, delegates and the Association Board, where it was unanimously agreed to cancel the 2020 Winter season, following the latest Victorian Government advice and state health announcements. The closure of the Victoria University stadiums, including Whitten Community Stadium, together with a large number of the Westgate commu...nity living in restricted suburbs for the next four weeks, has made it difficult to pursue a relevant competition this winter. We are aiming for a return to basketball as soon as possible and will work with our clubs to explore all options including training camps, 3v3 competitions, and other fun events, so stay tuned!

If you don't know her you haven't been at Westgate very long as she's been a huge part of every program and competition for Westgate. A committed and passionate competitior on the court, on the bench and in the Board Room at Westgate so please reach out and thank Penny for her continued service to the Association. Also big thanks to Basketball Victoria for the recognition of just one of our hundreds of tireless volunteers at Westgate. Westgate will be following the advice provided by the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) in regards to holding public sporting events. As of today there is no advice around cancellation of sporting events. If the advice from DHHS changes in relation to this Friday's VJBL games, Saturday's domestic finals, or other Westgate p...rograms, we intend to follow this advice and will notify you as best we can via social media and email. 08.01.2022 Hello Westgate Players, Coaches and Families, While this isn't how we were hoping the Summer Season would play out, the Board and the Domestic Competition Sub-Committee agreed to cancel finals and award medals based on end of the regular season standings. Please join us in congratulating the Summer Regular Season Premiers and Runners Ups across our 28 competitions and a massive thank you to our coaches and other volunteers who made the summer season a success. We will celeb...rate our Summer Season competition in some form when we get back so watch this space. While we don't know yet when we will hit the courts again, both our Board and Domestic Competition Sub-Committee are meeting regularly and are engaged with Basketball Victoria and other key stakeholders to aim to make a quick start of the Winter Season when we get the green light. For now feel free to reach out to your clubs for any updates at the club level and we will aim to keep you informed about our competitions and programs as we go. More improvements at RecWest are in progress as well so massive thanks to the team at RecWest and the good people at Maribyrnong City Council who funded the needed upgrades.

Maribyrnong Council is seeking community feedback on the West Footscray Community Facility Plan which includes a indoor court (replacement for existing) and a NEW Outdoor Full-Court. To help ensure both of these design optons get approved as part of the next phase of the project, we need you to click the link below and take 5 minutes to provide your feedback by Sunday May 3.... The new Outdoor Court is a great addition to the facility but the current plans are quite vague on the design of this space. We need your help to communicate to Council's CEO, Executive Management Team, and Councillors that this court must be of a high quality and not an afterthought in the design process. This is especially relevant if Council wants to ensure the court is highly utilised and fit to host future Street Ball competitions, 3v3 tournament, and other programs. With respect to the new Indoor Court we ask that it is designed to a competition standard with scoreboards, scoring benches, adjustable backboards, etc., to allow it to be used for competitions, training and programs. 04.01.2022 Here is the latest return to sport announcement from Basketball Victoria With the current guidelines only allowing 20 participants per venue (no matter how many courts), we are working with our facilities and waiting to receive clarification on player numbers per venue.
