25.01.2022 With the wind and the rain we'll be moving the check in desk into the foyer for today's U14 and U16 boys tryout sessions. Registration will still be at the same time, but with limited room we encourage players to stay in cars until lines ease... We won't start the tryouts until you're all on court! Good luck!

25.01.2022 Here is the latest return to sport announcement from Basketball Victoria. With the current guidelines only allowing 20 participants per venue (no matter how many courts), we are working with our facilities and waiting to receive clarification on player numbers per venue. We hope to be able to announce training programs soon, with the aim to host tryouts in December. Stay tuned for more info very soon!

24.01.2022 What a HUUUGGGEE day of uniform fittings. We can't wait to see all our new players in their Imperials kit. A big thanks goes to our new players and parents for their patience and a even bigger thanks to our many volunteers who helped today. Our supplier will be prioritising game singlets and game shorts for delivery the week prior to our first game, before moving on to the off court items. All orders will be delivered to team managers to be given to players at training.

24.01.2022 With the new season and tryouts in planning, we'd thought throw it back to 2015. These very eager girls were taking to the court for their first time for the Imperials (they didn't even have a full uniform kit yet). Many of these familiar faces are still wearing the , and played in our U16 girls team last season. We can't wait to meet our new players (and see our returning players) for season 2021.

Also a HUGE thank you goes to all our coaches and volunteers who helped run the sessions. Our coaches were very impressed with the talent displayed over the last two weekends, so we are excited for another strong Imperials season in 2021

23.01.2022 It was great to see all our players back on the court, enjoying basketball again last week. Unfortunately, with the recent news of Covid-19 cases close to the Imperial's home base, RecWest Braybrook has advised that the students from any affected school should not attend training or games until contract tracing has been completed. We understand this is disappointing news, and have big impacts on many of our teams, but it's a necessary move at this time to keep us all healthy.... We also wish to remind players and volunteers who attend sessions at RecWest that you follow all safety protocols that are being put in place by the facility and Westgate, including temperature checks, hand sanitisation on entry & exit, basketballs wiped down etc. As you can respect, the current Covid-19 outbreak is changing each day. We will do our very best to keep all Imperials families informed as more updates become available.

22.01.2022 Imperials have your say today on basketball facilities in Footscray for the future! Online feedback closes this Sunday. Maribyrnong Council is seeking community feedback on the West Footscray Community Facility Plan which includes a indoor court (replacement for existing) and a NEW Outdoor Full-Court. To help ensure both of these design optons get approved as part of the next phase of the project, we need you to click the link below and take 5 minutes to provide your feedbac...k by Sunday May 3. The new Outdoor Court is a great addition to the facility but the current plans are vague on the design of this space. We need your help to communicate to Council and Councillors that this court must be of a high quality and not an afterthought in the design process. This is especially relevant if Council wants to ensure the court is highly utilised and fit to host future Street Ball competitions, 3v3 tournament, and other programs. With respect to the new Indoor Court we ask that it is designed to a competition standard with scoreboards, scoring benches, adjustable backboards, etc., to allow it to be used for competitions, training and programs. 22.01.2022 Exciting news for our Imperials players! After the success of our Imperials girls clinic last year, we have again partnered with Chris Anstey and his daughter Izzy, to host a number of school holiday camps this March. Imperials Rep player camps will be held on Monday March 30th at RecWest. The camp will focus on key skills for VJBL players, including game preparation, recovery and nutrition. 22.01.2022 Basketball brings so much to the community - not just through the joy of competition, but also the economic value of our teams heading to regional and suburban cities to play in tournaments. Here's hoping the Ballarat Tournament, and many others like it, get to run in 2022.

21.01.2022 Unfortunately, the 2020 Basketball Ballarat Junior tournament on Queens Birthday weekend is the latest basketball event to be cancelled. This tournament is the highlight of the Imperials calendar, so we are very disappointed to hear this news. We'll look for alternate tournaments if ball is back up and running for that weekend, so stayed tuned.

18.01.2022 Earlier this week, we made the decision to continue optional training for players in non restricted postcodes Overwhelmingly, the majority of Imperials families have told us that they would like to continue training at RecWest Braybrook. With many of you stating the importance of mental and physical well being of our players, which training can help contribute too. Aligned to the Basketball Victoria and State Government guidelines (see below), RecWest and Imperials ...will ensure strict adherence to these precautions, including: Ensuring teams maintain additional social distancing when waiting to gain entry to RecWest. Coaches have been advised of designated areas near the entry to prevent unnecessary gathering. Additional sanitisers and sanitising wipes on entry into RecWest. Players will not be permitted into the stadium until they have sanitised their hands and wiped their basketball. All players to sanitise their hands and basketball when exiting the stadium

Basketball’s on-court hiatus is in place to help us... flatten the curve of infection and ease the spread of the COVID-19 virus, this is the sacrifice that the community must make. 09.01.2022 With the re-introduction of Stage 3 Restrictions for Metropolitan Melbourne, unfortunately the Victorian Junior Basketball League had no alternative but to announce the cancelation of the 2019/2020 VJBL Championship Season. We know this is sad news for all of our players, coaches and families, as many Imperials teams were set to have a fantastic season. The VJBL hope to announce plans for the 2020/2021 season soon. In the meantime the senior coaching team along with the com...mittee will be working hard to shape plans for a return to basketball, and a training program to ready players for next season's team selections. Despite this news, our dedicated teams enjoyed one last practice on the court, and what fun they had! We wish you all well for lockdown 2.0 and we look forward to seeing back on the court in 6 weeks time.
