24.01.2022 Dynon Road update: foundation works continue for the new ramps we’re building that will provide a direct link from the west to the city via the new Wurundjeri Way Extension. Pedestrians walking in the area can use a temporary path under Dynon Road we’ve installed to get to North Melbourne. This will keep you safe while construction works continue in the area. 22.01.2022 The Outdoor Education Foundation received $100,000 of funding via the West Gate Neighbourhood Fund partnerships program. Hear about how this funding will create a new program that will bring together 50 disadvantaged young people from the western suburbs to participate in an immersive outdoor camping experience. #ConnectingCommunities

21.01.2022 It’s a different kind of roofing job, but it’s a big step that just took place at the outbound tunnel exit beside the West Gate Freeway. Installing a roof at the exits & entries of the tunnels provides support for the future above ground portal structures and acts as a sound barrier. Weighing up to 58 tonnes - witness the first of around 400 concrete beams that will create the roof of the tunnel exit.

21.01.2022 Millers Road under the West Gate Freeway & the citybound entry and exit ramps are now reopened. This brings an end to our Spring works program. Thank you to the local community and road users in the area for their patience while this important milestone work has been completed. Works took place around the clock for six weeks to remove the traffic island on Millers Road to make space to add an additional through lane and an additional turning lane onto the freeway ... 21.01.2022 Our construction crews will soon complete demolition works of the Grieve Parade bridge over the West Gate Freeway. The freeway between the M80 Ring Road & Grieve Parade will reopen from 5 am, Monday 11 January. Traffic on Grieve Parade will be reduced to one lane each direction until Monday 22 March. A reminder on ramp closures that will be in place from 5 am, Monday 11 January:... M80 Ring Road to West Gate Freeway ramp Closed 24/7 until Monday 22 February Princes Freeway to Geelong Road in both directions Closed 24/7 from 9pm tonight to Monday 22 February These closures are required so that we can increase the bridge clearances, replace ageing barriers and bearings on the bridges and repave the surrounding ramps, all making way for 4 extra lanes on the West Gate Freeway. 19.01.2022 YMCA Victoria are one of the deserving recipients of $100K in funding from the West Gate Neighbourhood Fund. The ‘Victorian Maribyrnong Skate Park Activation Project’ will deliver 3 scalable social enterprises at skate parks across Yarraville, West Footscray and Highpoint & YMCA will look to recruit and train young people to deliver skateboarding workshops to students. #ConnectingCommunities

18.01.2022 Here’s what the new noise walls will look like once finished. The new noise walls are of a higher standard to the old ones and will mean quieter parks and neighbourhoods for inner west residents. We’ve installed over one third of the concrete panels with the coloured acrylic parts starting to be put on top at various sections along the freeway. We’re building more than nine kilometres of new and improved noise walls along the West Gate Freeway. 17.01.2022 14kms of new and upgraded walking & cycling paths are being built by the West Gate Tunnel Project including a new separated path at Dynon Road that is well on its way. 7 support columns to support the new separated path have been constructed near North Melbourne station. The path will run alongside a new elevated road that connects CityLink to Dynon Road and the CBD.

16.01.2022 The West Gate Tunnel Project has installed brand new safety nets at the West Gate Golf Club and Donald McLean Reserve in Spotswood. Standing 12 metres high and up to 65 metres wide, the nets will protect drivers on the West Gate Freeway and workers from stray golf balls. 15.01.2022 We’ve installed the roof for the inbound tunnel entrance near Williamstown Road. All 127 concrete beams that make the roof are now in place. Quick fact: An average of 6 beams were installed per day with our 250 tonne mobile crane. Next up, we’re building a road over the top, so we can shift traffic & make a new workspace in the middle of the freeway to continue widening works.... 12.01.2022 Thank you for your patience as we complete the demolition of a section of the Grieve Parade bridge over the West Gate Freeway. On site, crews are working 24 hours a day to demolish the eastern side of the bridge originally built in the 1970s and soon a stronger reconstructed bridge will be built. The first step was to remove the traffic island in the middle of the bridge, then we had to separate the western side of the bridge from the eastern side that is being removed, and ...this weekend the excavators are moving in to start pulling it down. The crushed rock being put on the freeway is to protect it from any falling pieces during demolition Reminder: the West Gate Freeway is closed 24/7 between the M80 Ring Road & Grieve Parade + a closure of the Grieve Parade bridge until 11 January.

10.01.2022 Kororoit Creek Bridge, Altona has changed a lot during the project as we widen the West Gate Freeway from 8 to 12 lanes. See what’s up next for this major part of the freeway. Upgrading the bridge structure by replacing the bearings of the existing bridge. Bridge bearings provide support between the bridge deck up top and the piers that keep it erect. Doing this work will make it stronger for many more years to come. Closures of the West Gate Freeway will be occurring soo...n for this work. Crews will also pour concrete to join up the existing bridge to the new extended bridge and top off the new road with asphalt. 09.01.2022 Reach for the sky! Work is underway to build the tallest bridge on our project, connecting CityLInk to our new elevated road on Footscray Road. Coming in at over 80 metres tall and weighing a whopping 800 tonnes, this Crawler Crane is just the second of its kind in Australia & being used to install columns and components for the new bridge that weigh up to 150 tonnes. 09.01.2022 We’ve installed the main sections for the pedestrian overpass connecting Fogarty Avenue in Yarraville to Muir Street in Spotswood. Take a look at how our crews put the new bridge together. 09.01.2022 You might not be able to picture it now, but this mass of concrete and steel is where the elevated road from the tunnel curves out across Footscray Road. The future elevated road provides motorists with access to Dynon Road and CityLink direct from the West Gate Tunnel. 04.01.2022 With its final works now wrapping up, we are pleased to have the new pedestrian overpass connecting Brooklyn & Altona North opening to the public on Monday 9 November. 02.01.2022 One pedestrian overpass installed - one more to go! The Muir Street overpass which will stretch over the West Gate Freeway is ready to be installed Saturday night. There are three ‘trusses’ in total that provide the base of the bridge. These ones were transported across the Bass Strait from Tasmania to be assembled in the middle of the West Gate Freeway. Reminder - the West Gate Freeway will be CLOSED in both directions between the M80 interchange and Williamstown Road Saturday night between 9pm and 7am.

01.01.2022 The West Gate Freeway & Grieve Parade bridge are now OPEN! Thank you for your patience as crews worked 24 hours a day to demolish a section of the Grieve Parade bridge. Traffic on Grieve Parade will continue with one lane in each direction - and overnight closures of the freeway will be occurring in the coming months as crews reconstruct the bridge.... More closures have begun today and will continue until Monday 22 February: M80 Ring Road to West Gate Freeway ramp Closed from Wednesday 6 January to Monday 22 February. Princes Freeway to Geelong Road / Geelong Road to Princes Freeway ramps Closed from Monday 11 January to Monday 22 February.
