23.01.2022 2020 Oct 5th Sat - Crazy people outrun the raindrops. It must have been a combination of the rain, a non-race day, Halloween that sparked a certain craziness in the air, check out the photos if you don't believe. A total of 35 people were on our COVID Traceability Register that is not too bad for off and on rain showers and very treating skies. Our Non-race day offers two well-marked run/walk courses of 3.5km and 5km with a guided or accompanied 10km training run if you l...et us know by 5.00 pm on Friday. Check out our website for details. Alex Bucci, in her Halloween wedding outfit with full makeup, had to be the pick of the crazies but the competition was strong. Next week, the 10km Handicap, Computer chip timing, fully marked out course with a 3kms Plus and 5km plus self-timed run courses available. All details on westiesjoggers.com.

22.01.2022 2020 October COMBO RUN -Wet but dry Run The coincidence of the weather being kind to Westies Joggers is becoming a thing that myths and legends are made of. We had rain before and rain after our event this has been a recurring theme over the last year or so. We are stopping short of guaranteeing a rain-free run :o) . Forty-seven (47) people were on our Traceability Register, which for a non-race social/training day. is pretty good. No doubt the ability to have a choice of three distances 3.5kms, 5kms and 10kms all guided or courses mark out provides a choice for all levels of runners/walkers and joggers. Next week is a non-race day, take advantage to train up for the Club races/ runs in November.

19.01.2022 2021 Jan 3.5km Hcp -New Years Resolutions are kicking in. Fifty-seven people completed the 3.5kms, in perfect weather conditions, no rain, a rare thing thus far this year. Fastest on the day was Tony Sinibadi a reward for his dedication to his training and absolutely no compromise running attitude. Eight seconds slower and he would have been second to the Man from the Mountains Dave Riches who has had some injury issues in recent times. Sandra Riches was the fastest walker... on the day with a very credible time, showing hubby how to do it :o). Tracey O'Donnell 6th Fastest outright and fastest Female, her love of running is getting results. It was noticeable that people are getting over Xmas and the COVID interruptions and getting back into serious training and running. The Xmas break is over and the New Year resolutions are kicking in. We are expecting to get back into our handicap format in terms of start times etc this, of course, this will be subject to compliance with the COVID restrictions. We will be letting people know of any changes.

05.01.2022 2020 Nov 10km Hcp - Purple patch for November We have had a number of "colour" months to bring to attention to issues in our society. This November is Purple month in recognition of people with disabilities. There was a definite purple hue to our runners. Everything from our timing mats to the Queen of Colour acknowledgement Alex with her tasteful purple gear and the birthday cake hat, hard to believe but she turned 50 today, Happy Birthday Alex. Another person who hit a ..."purple patch" was Lilian Molesworth doing her best time since December 2019, and in doing so was the fastest runner on the day, sorry boys you need to try harder. Four new members had there first run over our 10km course, it was suggested that we lull people in with the flat 3.5km and 5km courses and then introduce them to the hills "out the back", a reasonably challenging course but beautiful at the same time. Check out the website https://www.westiesjoggers.com/results/ for results and the race report soon to be published including who was the Handicap winner for November.

03.01.2022 GREENACRE running legend Chris Moynham completed his 50th City2Surf earlier this month and helped create history after it was held as a ‘virtual’ event for the first time due to Covid. Congratulations Chris! https://www.localnewsplus.com.au/completes-50th-virtual-ci/

02.01.2022 2020 Nov 5@theLake - Young Guns show the "Oldies" who is the fastest. Fifty-Five runners/walkers ranging in age from 17 to 80years competed with the fastest times going to Nathan 18years, 17:39 and Jack Wedgwood 17years 19.01 coming in front of the "over" twenties. This race also has a performance point score based on a formula which takes into account age, gender and comparison with world records for these categories. This is where age is an advantage if you are a good runn...er. See the results under"Performance Points" on our website and in the attached photos. Check out the photos for awards presentations for previous events and some interesting if not dramatic finishes and also how to incorporate distance run training, 21kms, into a 5km race and still be smiling at the end,ask Carol.
