23.01.2022 Hardwood Floor Fixes The occasional spill or accident will occur, despite all our efforts to prevent these misadventures. But we can usually deal with these problems quite quickly. Wax or crayon these can be removed using cold temperatures or heat. Try freezing the area with ice cubes in a plastic bag and scrapping off. Or use a hairdrier to melt the wax/crayon and soak it up with a paper towel. Some use an iron over the paper towel, melting the substance as they soak it up.... Chewing gum freeze this with ice and scrape away. Kerosene will remove stubborn chewing gum, but this is very harsh on floors and finishes. Dark Spots apply a paste made form oxalic acid and water. Leave this on the stain for 5-10 minutes and then wipe with a cloth. Use a wet cloth on polyurethane finished floors, and a dry cloth on waxed floors. Food stains wipe away the food and use a commercial cleaner designed for the type of floor finish. There are specific cleaners for polyurethane floors. Apply more wax for waxed floors Grease of oil Use mineral spirits on a cloth for waxed floors, then re-wax. Use the right specific cleaner for polyurethane floors. Small dents apply a damp cloth to the dent and apply a hot iron. The wood should reassume its shape. This works best if the dent is very recent. Squeaky floors apply baking soda and corn flour to the edges of a squeaky floorboard. Vacuum away the excess powder. #floor #renovationflooring #renovationdiscount #discountflooring #floorsale #flooringsale #tiles #walltiles #floortiles #ceramictiles #porcelaintiles #woodtiles #discounttiles #woodstyle #classictimber #woodtiles # #hardwood #discounttimber #laminateflooring #hardwoodflooring #flooroptions #engineeredwood #mid-priceflooring #midpricedflooring #cheaperflooring #cheapfloors #cheaperfloor #discountflooring #discountfloors #flooringdiscount #flooroptions #floorhacks #fixfloor #homefloor
22.01.2022 Cutting Tiles Some tiling projects are good for DIY, though it depends on the situation. A few tiling projects are relatively simple if the tiles neatly fit into the space provided. Other tiling projects suddenly become difficult because a few tiles need to be cut. This difficulty increases if the cutting must be performed at an angle or curve. Straight cuts on tiles.... - A wet saw is the best way to cut a tile. This is a professional, and rather expensive, device consisting of a small table with a guided circular diamond cutting blade. These wet saws can be rented. - Some tiles are cut with a hand powered diamond saw, like a hacksaw. But this is a slow process. Perhaps used for no more than one or two tiles. - Some tiles can be cut by scoring a line across the point where you want to make the cut and then snapping the tile over an edge. This can be tricky, and tiles can sometimes break in the wrong place. Most power saws will not work with tiles; they tend to overheat and quickly become blunt when used on a tiled surface. A few specialised power saws designed for tiles are appropriate. Curved cuts on tiles. - A nibbling tool can cut a curve in a tile, but this is a tricky process. - A combination of a diagonal cuts with a wet saw and a nibbling tool can produce a curve cut in a tile. - A diamond tipped rotary tool in a router will cut unusual shapes into a tile. But this is generally only used for isolated cases, and the work is tricky. Usually the router is designed for ceramic and tile work. ALWAYS use SAFETY GLASSES and other SAFETY EQUIPMENT when cutting Tiles. We recommend professional tile cutting or installation for most tiling projects. #renovationflooring #renovationdiscount #discountflooring #floorsale #flooringsale #tiles #ceramictiles #porcelaintiles #woodtiles #discounttiles #woodstyle #classictimber #woodtiles #bamboofloor #hardwood #discounttimber #laminateflooring #hardwoodflooring #flooroptions #engineeredwood #mid-priceflooring #midpricedflooring #cheaperflooring #cheapfloors #cheaperfloor #discountflooring #discountfloors #flooringdiscount #tiles #cuttingtiles #tilehacks #tiletricks
22.01.2022 Vinyl Planks and Tiles Vinyl can imitate the appearance of wood or stone. So there is a vinyl tile or plank to match any dcor. Furthermore, vinyl planks and tiles are relatively easy to install. They are cut with tongue-and-groove edge that neatly lock together and remain stable for years to come. As long as the surface is flat installation is easy. ... Vinyl planks and tiles are very suitable for installing above a subfloor. This included kitchens and bathroom, because vinyl will handle moderately wet conditions quite well. Consider vinyl flooring, easy to clean, durable, and suitable for so many dcor styles. #floor #renovationflooring #renovationdiscount #discountflooring #floorsale #flooringsale #tiles #ceramictiles #porcelaintiles #woodtiles #discounttiles #woodstyle #classictimber #woodtiles #bamboofloor #hardwood #discounttimber #laminateflooring #hardwoodflooring #flooroptions #engineeredwood #mid-priceflooring #midpricedflooring #cheaperflooring #cheapfloors #cheaperfloor #discountflooring #discountfloors #flooringdiscount #cleaning #vinyl #vinyltiles #vinylplanks
20.01.2022 Austere and Open Sometimes even the cleanest room just doesnt look right. If the dcor doesnt work the room will always look drab or cluttered. Colours... A room can look clean and open with light colours. But the colours have to complement each other. Colours on the opposite side of a colour-wheel are one possibility. Else, almost any colour can be paired with white. A dark colour can work well, especially if paired with lighter colours. Make sure there is plenty of light and physical space if you want to keep the open and clean atmosphere. Spacing A cluttered room will always feel untidy. This is worse if the clutter is all at the one level, if everything is at bench hight. If you need storage space try to use the space above your head and beneath furniture. Rooms can feel open if everything is close to the floor. This leaves a lot of openness in the rest of the room. Floors. Floors are a major component in how a room looks and feels. A bare floor surface can help a room feel open. Natural, unobtrusive patterns like stone of woodgrain feel more open than bold patterns. This can be achieved with natural hardwood, laminate or many vinyl options. #floor #renovationflooring #renovationdiscount #discountflooring #floorsale #flooringsale #tiles #walltiles #floortiles #ceramictiles #porcelaintiles #woodtiles #discounttiles #woodstyle #classictimber #woodtiles #bamboofloor #hardwood #discounttimber #laminateflooring #hardwoodflooring #flooroptions #engineeredwood #mid-priceflooring #midpricedflooring #cheaperflooring #cheapfloors #cheaperfloor #discountflooring #discountfloors #flooringdiscount #flooroptions #renovations #space
20.01.2022 Four True Floors Choices There are several type of floor materials, each with their own advantages. Solid Wood... This is very long lasting and durable, and many people like the look of woodgrain, which can be stained and polished. It can also be re-sanded to remove superficial damage. This solid timber is expensive and difficult to install, requiring cutting and sanding. Engineered Wood This is made of several layers of wood, to achieve high strength with an attractive top woodgrain layer. It is moderately priced and pre-cut and polished so that it is reasonably easy to install. Laminate This has a realistic printed imitation timber appearance on a high density fibre board. It is fairly cheap and available in countless styles. It is also quite resistant to fading and scratching. Bamboo This is similar to wood, but is easier to grow and less expensive to produce. Older types of bamboo floors suffered superficial scratching, but modern bamboo is durable, long lasting and it can be processed to look like either natural timber, or given one of many unusual appearances. #floor #renovationflooring #renovationdiscount #discountflooring #floorsale #flooringsale #tiles #walltiles #floortiles #ceramictiles #porcelaintiles #woodtiles #discounttiles #woodstyle #classictimber #woodtiles # #hardwood #bamboo #bamboofloor #engineeredfloor #engineeredtimber #discounttimber #laminate #laminateflooring #hardwoodflooring #flooroptions #engineeredwood #mid-priceflooring #midpricedflooring #cheaperflooring #cheapfloors #cheaperfloor #discountflooring #discountfloors #flooringdiscount #flooroptions #newflooroptions #protectfloor
19.01.2022 Sealing Tiles Tiles are the best options for any floor that is exposed to water. They are ubiquitous for bathroom. But the tiles and grout should be sealed. This provides complete water proofing, and helps protect the floor from staining. Some tiles are already waterproof and do not require a sealer. But the grout between tiles will still need sealing; it is naturally porous. We dont want water to get through the grout and under the tiles.... Grout can be sealed with a small brush or similar applicator. You will need two coats, each of which will take about an hour to dry. Porous tiles can be sealed quite easily. The sealer is painted on clean tiles, and left to dry. Apply two coats. Some tiles can be etched so that the sealer bonds well. But we would consider sealing just the grout when using these type of tiles as they are probably already quite waterproof. #floor #renovationflooring #renovationdiscount #discountflooring #floorsale #flooringsale #tiles #walltiles #floortiles #ceramictiles #porcelaintiles #woodtiles #discounttiles #woodstyle #classictimber #woodtiles # #hardwood #bamboo #bamboofloor #engineeredfloor #engineeredtimber #discounttimber #laminate #laminateflooring #hardwoodflooring #flooroptions #engineeredwood #mid-priceflooring #midpricedflooring #cheaperflooring #cheapfloors #cheaperfloor #discountflooring #discountfloors #flooringdiscount #flooroptions #newflooroptions #protectfloor #sealtiles #tilesealing
19.01.2022 Considerations before Flooring Any building project spends significant time on preparation and planning. If we get these things right then the installation will be easier. And hopefully we wont look back and wish we had done things differently. A few things to consider:... Underfloor heating: This needs to be installed before the flooring. Underfloor heating works best with something like engineered timber or tiles. It is not appropriate for hardwood, which does take well to temperature changes. Moisture levels Some floors will not handle moisture. If we want to put a new floor in a bathroom we best stick to tiles (which come in many styles) or perhaps vinyl. If there are moisture problems in other rooms, perhaps coming in from the ground, we may need to install waterproofing under the floor before installation. Joining methods Floating floors with tongue-and-groove sides will fit together on top of an existing floor. Vinyl can be attached with adhesive, leaving no visible joints on the surface. Timber will need nails, screws or adhesive to hold it in place. Acclimatization Wood will expand or contract in a new environment. Leave timber boards in a room of a few days before installation, so when they are installed they will have already adjusted to that particular environment. #floor #renovationflooring #renovationdiscount #discountflooring #floorsale #flooringsale #tiles #walltiles #floortiles #ceramictiles #porcelaintiles #woodtiles #discounttiles #woodstyle #classictimber #woodtiles # #hardwood #bamboo #bamboofloor #engineeredfloor #engineeredtimber #discounttimber #laminate #laminateflooring #hardwoodflooring #flooroptions #engineeredwood #mid-priceflooring #midpricedflooring #cheaperflooring #cheapfloors #cheaperfloor #discountflooring #discountfloors #flooringdiscount #flooroptions #newflooroptions #style #decor #nail #screws #adhesive #floorglue #acclimatization
19.01.2022 Benefits of Timber - Wood is healthy. It is extremely low allergen, does not harbour dust. - Wooden floors are fairly easy to clean with a soft vacuum attachment or damp mop. ... - Wooden floors are very long lasting. Wooden floors in homes over a century old are still solid, functional and often still look quite fine. - Responsibly harvested timber can be replaced with growing trees that benefit the ecosystem, lowering CO2 greenhouse gas. The timber permanently stores the CO2. Other building materials do not have this advantage. - Wood is quite a good natural insulator, far better than concrete or metal. This helps reduce heating and cooling costs. - It is easy to add rugs or furnishings to hard floors like timber during winter, and remove them for air circulation in summer. This cannot be done with carpeted floors. - Well cut timber planks are aesthetically pleasing. They combine the uniformity of the wooden planks with the semi-random appeal of woodgrain. - Pre-cut timber is moderately easy to install. - Solid hardwood can be re-sanded to look like new. - Hardwood floors are a selling point for homes. #floor #renovationflooring #renovationdiscount #discountflooring #floorsale #flooringsale #tiles #ceramictiles #porcelaintiles #woodtiles #discounttiles #woodstyle #classictimber #woodtiles #bamboofloor #hardwood #discounttimber #laminateflooring #hardwoodflooring #flooroptions #engineeredwood #mid-priceflooring #midpricedflooring #cheaperflooring #cheapfloors #cheaperfloor #discountflooring #discountfloors #flooringdiscount #flooroptions #advantageswood #advantagestimber #benefitstimber #benefitswood
19.01.2022 Benefits of Modern Laminate Laminate flooring is an inexpensive yet attractive flooring option. It is a modern synthetic material that looks like timber or stone. The advantages of laminate include:... Style the photorealistic image on laminate can look like any number of timbers of stonework. Durability The clear top layer protects the finish. It is fairly hardwearing. There is little to no colour fading under normal indoor lighting conditions. Modern options are reasonably water resistant. Fine for kitchens. It retains its shape for decades under normal conditions. Easy installation tongue-and-groove edges means reasonable easy installation. It can be used as a floating floor as the main floor. Low Cost laminate is far less expensive than hardwood, or other imitation woods. Laminate is a great option for most household floorings. #floor #renovationflooring #renovationdiscount #discountflooring #floorsale #flooringsale #tiles #walltiles #floortiles #ceramictiles #porcelaintiles #woodtiles #discounttiles #woodstyle #classictimber #woodtiles # #hardwood #bamboo #bamboofloor #engineeredfloor #engineeredtimber #discounttimber #laminate #laminateflooring #hardwoodflooring #flooroptions #engineeredwood #mid-priceflooring #midpricedflooring #cheaperflooring #cheapfloors #cheaperfloor #discountflooring #discountfloors #flooringdiscount #flooroptions #newflooroptions #style #decor
18.01.2022 Basement Flooring Some of us to put our basement to some use, making it a recreation room or simply using it for storage. This mean we will probably need to add some flooring. Basement conditions are a little different the other rooms in the home. Basements can have moisture problems. So we either need extensive waterproofing in the basement, or as need a suitable flooring material that will handle moisture.... Vinyl Good vinyl is relatively inexpensive, and can imitate the appearance of timber or stone. It is also quite durable and will also handle reasonable moisture levels. This is a good option for a childrens playroom. Tiles Tiles are excellent for dealing with moisture, and they last for decades. The downside is that they are hard and cold on the feet. Hardwood. Timber hardwood is only suitable for basements if there are no moisture issues. Timber will warp then then is moisture in the air. Have the basement professionally tested (summer and winter conditions) and water proofed I you want timber flooring Engineered Hardwood A floating engineered floor is better as dealing with moisture than solid timber, and they can be installed over a cement floor. We recommend some water proof sheeting beneath the floating floor to keep any moisture to an absolute minimum. Cement - sealing Many basements already have cement floors. These can be covered with an epoxy compound for added protection, and a more pleasing colour surface. Carpet Carpet is not really suitable for basements. It will tend to grow mouldy, which is a health risk. All basements are prone to mould. Have the basement area checked and cleaned for mould on a regular basis. #floor #renovationflooring #renovationdiscount #discountflooring #floorsale #flooringsale #tiles #walltiles #floortiles #ceramictiles #porcelaintiles #woodtiles #discounttiles #woodstyle #classictimber #woodtiles # #hardwood #discounttimber #laminateflooring #hardwoodflooring #flooroptions #engineeredwood #mid-priceflooring #midpricedflooring #cheaperflooring #cheapfloors #cheaperfloor #discountflooring #discountfloors #flooringdiscount #flooroptions #basment #basementflooring #bestbasement #bestbasementfloor
18.01.2022 Rooms and Edges Different rooms in the house will have different flooring materials. This is quite appropriate. But sometimes the edge where one floor meets the other can be an issue. There will be a space where the bathroom tiles end and another floor begins. This space needs both a neat aesthetic solution and protection against potential moisture problems. The bathroom tiles may be at a slightly different level to the next floor, so the joint must take this into account. ... Metal Edge Strip. Many edges simply use a metal strip on the joint between two floors. This can be simply screwed or nailed into place. Some edges will accommodate a difference in height between the floors. Look for an edge strip that allows the screws of nails to be inconspicuous. Sealing against Moisture. There may be a gap at the edge of a tiled floor. This will need to be sealed to prevent water runoff from the bathroom draining in to the gap, possibly causing long term damage. Some gaps can be sealed with silicone before the edge is put in place. Other gaps will need solid material filler to accommodate the screws holding the edge in place. #renovationflooring #renovationdiscount #discountflooring #floorsale #flooringsale #tiles #ceramictiles #porcelaintiles #woodtiles #discounttiles #woodstyle #classictimber #woodtiles #bamboofloor #hardwood #discounttimber #laminateflooring #hardwoodflooring #flooroptions #engineeredwood #mid-priceflooring #midpricedflooring #cheaperflooring #cheapfloors #cheaperfloor #discountflooring #discountfloors #flooringdiscount #edge #flooredge #sealing
17.01.2022 Subflooring The subfloor is the foundation beneath the regular (main) floor. In modern homes this is often solid concrete, at least at the lowest floor. Older homes have plywood, chipboard or wooden planks over a wooden frame. Upper floors will mostly have wooden subfloors. Different subfloors will accommodate different main floorings. There are usually many options for main floors. ... Concrete subfloors will easily accommodate wood, laminate, carpet, vinyl, or almost any type of tile. Because concrete is slightly porous the floor might need protection against moisture, and some floors requite underlay. But these are easy matters to resolve. Otherwise concrete is solid, reliable and versatile as a subfloor. Concrete subfloors are idea for floating floors, where the floor is not permanently attached to the subfloor. This is great to acoustic isolation, and easy for to renovate for DIY projects. Plywood subfloors are fine underneath most main floors; timber, vinyl, bamboo and other materials work well over plywood. Unfortunately, hard tiles are not a good option over plywood subfloors. There is always a good option for putting a new floor over your subfloor. 17.01.2022 Floating Floors A popular DIY project is the installation of a floating floor. This is where a second layer of floor material is put over the top of an existing sub-floor, but not nailed or glued to the lower sub-floor surface. Floating floors are useful for underfloor heating, and provide some sound insulation. They also accommodate expansion and contraction quite well. ... Materials laminate, engineered flooring and bamboo are all good options for floating floors. Preparation - A concrete sub-floor may need to be levelled before installing a top floating floor. This just mean making sure that there are no high or low spots. - A timber subfloor must also be level. This many entail a re-sanding the surface. - Leave the boards for the subfloor in the room for a day or two so they can acclimatize. - Remove the skirting boards around the walls. - Cut the very lowest section under the door frame so that it is at the same height as the skirting boards. This means the flooring material should neatly fit under the doorframe. - Make sure the door on the room will close when the floating floor is put in. - Lay the floorboards so there is a small gap around the edge of the floor. This will be covered by the skirting board. This allows for expansion and contraction of the floor. - The floorboards will fit together with tongue and groove edges. Use a hammer and pulling bar to align the individual boards. - Re-attach the skirting boards. #floor #renovationflooring #renovationdiscount #discountflooring #floorsale #flooringsale #tiles #walltiles #floortiles #ceramictiles #porcelaintiles #woodtiles #discounttiles #woodstyle #classictimber #woodtiles # #hardwood #discounttimber #laminateflooring #hardwoodflooring #flooroptions #engineeredwood #mid-priceflooring #midpricedflooring #cheaperflooring #cheapfloors #cheaperfloor #discountflooring #discountfloors #flooringdiscount #flooroptions #renovations #floatingfloor
16.01.2022 Hardwood Wear and Damage Hardwood is structurally strong and will easily last for decades. But like any flooring material its surface can be scratched or damaged by moisture, which ruins the appearance. We can take preventative measures to greatly reduce the risk of damaging our hardwood floors.... Moisture Any amount of water beyond a damp cloth risks damage to the floor. Avoid wet mopping. Use a damp cloth. Microfibre cleaning cloths are a good option. Maintain moderate humidity in the home to keep floors stable. This will tend to be a more comfortable environment for the inhabitants too. Dirty Footware Shoes will track in sand and grit from outside. Place a firm rule to remove all shoes outside. Perhaps shave slippers for indoor wear. Furniture The legs of tables, chairs or the piano will easily scratch the floor, especially if they are dragged across the surface. Use felt or plastic coasters under the legs of furniture. Children Toys, prams and other playthings will tear up the surface of the hardwood floor. Keep these in another room. When children are young you can protect the floor will a large rug or foam tiles. If a hardwood floor suffers superficial damage the surface can be re-sanded to restore the original finish. #floor #renovationflooring #renovationdiscount #discountflooring #floorsale #flooringsale #tiles #walltiles #floortiles #ceramictiles #porcelaintiles #woodtiles #discounttiles #woodstyle #classictimber #woodtiles # #hardwood #discounttimber #laminateflooring #hardwoodflooring #flooroptions #engineeredwood #mid-priceflooring #midpricedflooring #cheaperflooring #cheapfloors #cheaperfloor #discountflooring #discountfloors #flooringdiscount #flooroptions #coasters #feltpads #protectfloor
16.01.2022 Clean Air and Allergies We are all better off in a cleaner environment. Especially if we suffer an allergy. It is easier to keep our home environment clean with good quality flooring, particularly with hard flooring materials. Soft material like carpets can retain dust and grit, and harbour dust mites and occasionally mould. This is difficult to remove, though regular steam cleaning does go a long way to removing the problems. ... Hard floors, especially hardwood timber, are basically free from dust mites and mould. And it is a simple matter to clean away dust and grit with sweeping or vacuuming. Anti-static mops and microfiber cloths are also very effective on hard floors surfaces, removing bacteria and microscopic debris. An air filter, by purifying the air, will also reduce the amount of dust and contaminants on the floor. Look for electronic air filtering with a HEPA filter. Indoor plants also improve indoor air quality. They help remove chemicals form the air like formaldehyde, which is often present in new carpets, some furniture and a few synthetic floor materials. #floor #renovationflooring #renovationdiscount #discountflooring #floorsale #flooringsale #tiles #walltiles #floortiles #ceramictiles #porcelaintiles #woodtiles #discounttiles #woodstyle #classictimber #woodtiles # #hardwood #bamboo #bamboofloor #engineeredfloor #engineeredtimber #discounttimber #laminate #laminateflooring #hardwoodflooring #flooroptions #engineeredwood #mid-priceflooring #midpricedflooring #cheaperflooring #cheapfloors #cheaperfloor #discountflooring #discountfloors #flooringdiscount #flooroptions #newflooroptions #clean #cleanair #filterair #airpurifier #airpurification #cleaninside #allergies #allergens #formaldehyde #airbourne
15.01.2022 Furnishings and Hardwood Floors If we go to the trouble of getting some fine flooring we should look at getting furnishings that match. Complementary colours and textures are the key to a good look; different but coherent. - A dark stained floor works well with lighter colours. Consider white furniture of light wood with minimal/subtle grain patterns ... - A light coloured floor can work with bright vibrate colours, or with dark wood. - Bright rugs on light colours wood can work well. Likewise, white rugs on a dark floor also look good. - Some people have tried to match the wooden furnishings with the floor, having the same look for both. This rarely works. We cannot tell where the floor ends and the rest of the room begins. - Use coasters under the legs of furnishings, to prevent scratches. Either match the coaster to the floor colour, or use cork that is too small to be unnoticeable. Else, use clear plastic coasters. Attach these casters to the legs of chairs. - Leather or faux leather has an organic fell that looks quite elegant if the colour complements the floor finish. - Look at lighting. A different type of lighting, natural sunlight, candle, warm orange, will give a different look to the room. #floor #renovationflooring #renovationdiscount #discountflooring #floorsale #flooringsale #tiles #walltiles #floortiles #ceramictiles #porcelaintiles #woodtiles #discounttiles #woodstyle #classictimber #woodtiles # #hardwood #bamboo #bamboofloor #engineeredfloor #engineeredtimber #discounttimber #laminate #laminateflooring #hardwoodflooring #flooroptions #engineeredwood #mid-priceflooring #midpricedflooring #cheaperflooring #cheapfloors #cheaperfloor #discountflooring #discountfloors #flooringdiscount #flooroptions #newflooroptions #style #decor
15.01.2022 Facts on Bamboo Flooring Bamboo flooring is one of several modern flooring options. It is growing in popularity because of its environmental advantages, and because it can be processed to give may different appearances. - Strand woven bamboo is extremely hard. It is comparable to the best hardwood.... Other type of bamboo are less strong. - Bamboo is the fastest growing plant on earth. It can grow to full maturity and strength in 7 years. Even bamboo of 5 years growth is a reasonable building material. This is much faster than quality timber, which takes decades to grow. This rapid growth and harvest is good for the environment we dont have to chop down as may trees. - Bamboo can be processed to look like many different types of timber, left to look like natural bamboo with its natural marbled pattern, or be altered to give unorthodox colours and finishes. - Bamboo is fine for basements and areas below ground level. Some other flooring materials will not work here. - Bamboo has reasonable water resistance, better than almost all timbers. But it is not like tiling, so it cannot really be used in bathrooms. - Bamboo can be purchased with tongue-and-groove edging, ideal for floating floors. - Bamboo is fairly inexpensive. Older styles of bamboo flooring were prone to scratching. Modern bamboo, manufactured in strand woven fashion, is much stronger and far less likely to scratch. #floor #renovationflooring #renovationdiscount #discountflooring #floorsale #flooringsale #tiles #walltiles #floortiles #ceramictiles #porcelaintiles #woodtiles #discounttiles #woodstyle #classictimber #woodtiles # #hardwood #discounttimber #laminateflooring #hardwoodflooring #flooroptions #engineeredwood #mid-priceflooring #midpricedflooring #cheaperflooring #cheapfloors #cheaperfloor #discountflooring #discountfloors #flooringdiscount #flooroptions #bamboo #bambooflooring #modernbamboo #bamboofacts #strandwoven #strandwovenbamboo
15.01.2022 Cleaning Bathroom Tiles Tiles are fairly easy to keep clean and shiny. They will tolerate heat and moisture better than other floor materials, and they wont usually absorb stains. So they can be easily cleaned with hot water and some simple cleaning agents. You should clean the tiles because: ... - It keeps the indoor environment, and atmosphere, healthy. - The tiles look better when clean. - The grout between tiles can absorb some mildew and bacteria, even if the tiles will resist this. This can be a hygiene issue. Sealed grout is much better in this regard. - Well maintained tiles will last for years, often for decades, so they wont need to be replaced. How to clean Tiles: - Sweep or vacuum with a soft brush attachment. - Saturate the grout with clean water. - Prepare a bucket of warm water with a small amount of phosphoric acid cleaner. Use the amount recommended on the package. - Apply the water/phosphoric solution to the floor and leave for 5 minutes. - Scrub with a hard brush. - Rinse and mop the tiled floor with cold water. Remove all the water/phosphoric acid solution. Use a wet vacuum if possible. - Mop with a detergent designed for tiles. - Mop with cold water to remove all of the detergent. If the floor feel sticky when dry, or if it attracts dirt, then there is still detergent/soap scum on the tiles. 14.01.2022 Hardwood Timber Finishes These days there are two popular choices for applying a finish to timber floors Urethane and Hardwood Oil. Both have their advantages. Urethane... Urethane comes in two general forms, water based and oil based. Both give and strong, durable protective coating to the floor. Both are extremely clear when first applied, so they preserve the natural look of the timber, though oil passed urethane will acquire a pleasantly warm amber tint as it ages. Urethane will require several coats. At least 2 for oil based, 4 for water based. Hardwax Oil This will partly penetrate the wood, protecting the timber and allowing it to breathe. It creates a natural warm appearance for the floor. These coatings are moderately priced and fairly easy to apply. Any damage to the floor is easy to fix with sanding and reapplication of more oil. The floors should be re-coated every year. #floor #renovationflooring #renovationdiscount #discountflooring #floorsale #flooringsale #tiles #walltiles #floortiles #ceramictiles #porcelaintiles #woodtiles #discounttiles #woodstyle #classictimber #woodtiles # #hardwood #discounttimber #laminateflooring #hardwoodflooring #flooroptions #engineeredwood #mid-priceflooring #midpricedflooring #cheaperflooring #cheapfloors #cheaperfloor #discountflooring #discountfloors #flooringdiscount #flooroptions #renovations #urethane #polyurethane #stain #timberstain #hardoilwax
14.01.2022 WEST LAKE FLOORING Hardwood vs Carpet Flooring Hardwood is easier to maintain than carpet, you just need to sweep and occasionally mop wood floors. Or you can vacuum instead of sweeping.... Liquid spills are easy to handle on hard floors; they can be mopped up quickly. Spills will soak into carpet and may cause damage. Hard floors are better for asthmatics and those who suffer allergies because they do not retain pollen or dust. Hard floors are cooler in summer. You can add rugs to hardwood floors if needed for winter. But you cannot easily take the carpet off a floor. Hardwood floors last for decades, and can be re-sanded to look like new. Carpet does not last as long, and shows signs of wear over time. 12.01.2022 Photoshop Design Mock Up Considering a few renovations? Want to change the colour of the walls or replace the floor? Some of us lucky and can visualize any changes. Other people have trouble deciding what will work. One popular way to help visualization is to use Photoshop. We simply take a photo or two of the room we wish to renovate, under good lighting condition, and use our computers Photoshop to vary colour and some basic room elements. We can change the colour of the w...all paint, or the curtains. Or even add simple geometric shapes like shelves or a bench. Floors are a little hard to replicate on Photoshop because they have textured patterns as well as colour. But Photoshoping the right colour for the floor will give a reasonable estimate. 12.01.2022 Maintaining Hardwood Harwood doesnt require too much effort to maintain, though it helps to know the right techniques. Keep the indoor environment stable. The air humidity should be moderate 35-55%, which keeps wood at about 10% humidity. Temperatures should be moderate. Too much humidity or temperature variation, especially if it is sudden, will cause wood to expand, contract or crack. Moderate humidity and temperature are healthy for human living.... Take off shoes when inside. This habit is becoming more popular in western countries. You should do this for all type of flooring. Felt pads or coasters under chair and table legs will prevent scratching. No harsh chemical, especially no ammonia. You the manufacturer recommended cleaner. Never use abrasive cleaning pads. These will scratch and ruin a floor. Microfiber cloths are effective and gentle. They actually remove bacteria and germs without the use of solvents, disinfectants or detergents. Use a damp mops to clean the floor. 09.01.2022 Get off the Floor There is no rule that says some materials can only be used on floors. We use different types of tiles on floors and walls. We can also use timber for walls, or bamboo, or laminate. Laminate may have great potential as a wall material. It can be created with many natural looking patterns, including woodgrain or stone. This can give anything from a modern to rustic look for walls, cupboards, wardrobes and other room elements. ... Bamboo works for walls and furnishings. This can give anything from a bright austere look to casual beach tropical style dcor. Different types of bamboo have been used for ceilings. Tiles for wall are hardly new for bathroom and kitchens. But stone or timber style tiles can work in many different rooms, and completely change the dcor. Consider all the building material available and consider what might be done with them. If we think outside the normal patterns we can come up with some creative and usable ideas. And we can always search the internet for some inspiring ideas. #floor #renovationflooring #renovationdiscount #discountflooring #floorsale #flooringsale #tiles #ceramictiles #porcelaintiles #woodtiles #discounttiles #woodstyle #classictimber #woodtiles #bamboofloor #hardwood #discounttimber #laminateflooring #hardwoodflooring #flooroptions #engineeredwood #mid-priceflooring #midpricedflooring #cheaperflooring #cheapfloors #cheaperfloor #discountflooring #discountfloors #flooringdiscount #advantagesofhardwood
08.01.2022 The Floor The floor is the biggest useable space in the home. We do well to consider all the design and dcor options with our flooring. Use the internet to find all sorts of home decoration ideas.... Remember that floor is permanent, or at least very long term. You can quite easily paint walls and change furniture to match the floor, but changing the floor is a major task. The colour of the floor can make the room seem larger or smaller, as will the colour dcor of the rest of the room. A light coloured floor with lighter, bright walls and trim, will generally make a room feel bigger. But even moderately dark hardwood and light coloured walls can make a room feel open and bright, especially if it is well lit. Larger timber planks and larger tiles make a room feel larger. Fewer lines between tiles and timber boards have that effect. Consider ways you can adapt the floor for summer and winter, adding rugs for warmth, or having bare open areas for circulating cooler air. If furniture and cupboards are kept off the floor then cleaning and air circulation is much easier. Have furniture on legs to allow space underneath. #floor #renovationflooring #renovationdiscount #discountflooring #floorsale #flooringsale #tiles #ceramictiles #porcelaintiles #woodtiles #discounttiles #woodstyle #classictimber #woodtiles #bamboofloor #hardwood #discounttimber #laminateflooring #hardwoodflooring #flooroptions #engineeredwood #mid-priceflooring #midpricedflooring #cheaperflooring #cheapfloors #cheaperfloor #discountflooring #discountfloors #flooringdiscount #advantagesofhardwood #floorspace
08.01.2022 Tiles Tiles remain the most popular flooring choice for bathrooms and kitchens. They offer the best waterproofing properties of any floor material, and with all the different tile design options there is no limit to the type of dcor they can create. Tiles can look like stone or timber, they can have geometric patterns, or they can simply have the natural austere look of porcelain. Concrete Tiles - Pressed cement that will develop a silky smooth patina. These are pleasantly ...earthy. Popular outdoors, or for laundries and bathrooms. Ceramic Tiles A great option for bathroom walls or kitchen splashbacks. Inexpensive with a neat and clean look. Not quite hard wearing enough for large floors. Glass tiles A more modern option with deeper colours than other tiles. Used for mosaic patterns. These were once considered too slippery for floors, but modern treatments have reduce this issues. #floor #renovationflooring #renovationdiscount #discountflooring #floorsale #flooringsale #tiles #walltiles #floortiles #ceramictiles #porcelaintiles #woodtiles #discounttiles #woodstyle #classictimber #woodtiles #bamboofloor #hardwood #discounttimber #laminateflooring #hardwoodflooring #flooroptions #engineeredwood #mid-priceflooring #midpricedflooring #cheaperflooring #cheapfloors #cheaperfloor #discountflooring #discountfloors #flooringdiscount #flooroptions #renovations #glasstiles #concretetiles
07.01.2022 Laminate and Engineered Floors Laminate is a synthetic flooring material with a surface that imitates the appearance of woodgrain or stone. It is quite popular because it can imitate a great range of different timbers or other surfaces, and because it is quite hardwearing. The top layer of protective resin makes it resistant to scratching. Laminate is a good choice for DIY projects. It is designed with a tongue and groove edge so that the individual boards easily lock toge...ther. This makes assembly quick and easy, with very pleasing results. Engineered flooring uses real timber. But in contrast to solid timber floor the engineered flooring has several layers of different timbers. The top layer of timber is chosen for appearance, and this can be an expensive, fancy wood. The other supporting layers of engineered flooring are used for strength. This means engineered floors combine the best of both worlds layers of strong timber for durability and stability, and a top layer for a pleasing appearance. Engineered flooring also has tongue and groove edges for easy assembly. #floor #renovationflooring #renovationdiscount #discountflooring #floorsale #flooringsale #tiles #walltiles #floortiles #ceramictiles #porcelaintiles #woodtiles #discounttiles #woodstyle #classictimber #woodtiles #bamboofloor #hardwood #discounttimber #laminateflooring #hardwoodflooring #flooroptions #engineeredwood #mid-priceflooring #midpricedflooring #cheaperflooring #cheapfloors #cheaperfloor #discountflooring #discountfloors #flooringdiscount #flooroptions #renovations #tongueandgroove
07.01.2022 Disadvantages of Carpet Carpet is one flooring option. Hardwood, bamboo, laminate vinyl and tiles are all other options that have their own advantages. Carpet has some disadvantages:... Allergies the carpet fibres will harbour allergens, dust mites, mould spores and other small items that aggravate asthma and allergies. Even regular cleaning will have trouble removing all these particles. Pet dander your pets shed skin and fur. This quickly finds its way into carpet. Seasonal change- carpet is great in cold winter, but not so much in summer. Whereas it is easy to add a rug to a hard floor it is hard to take away a carpet. The hard floor underneath. Carpets still need a solid surface. So you have to pay for a carpet and the hard floor. Carpet will last for a decade, maybe two. Hardwood lasts for a century. Tiles, bamboo and other options also last for decades. Hard floors are easy to clean and reasonably easy to cool in summer. They are low allergy and last for decades. Consider the hard floor options. 07.01.2022 Hard vs Soft flooring There are two general options for floors. We can have hard floors, like hardwood timber, tiles, laminate, or engineered wood. Or we can have soft options like carpet. The hard options have man y benefits: Hard floors are easy to sweep clean. They are also easy to vacuum or mop if necessary.... Hard floors are better for with allergies or asthma, because they do not retain pollen, dust mites or contaminants. Liquid spills are less of an issue on hard floors. If they are cleaned up quickly there is not issue. If you use tiles then the floor is completely waterproof. By contrast, carpets can be easily damaged by spills Hard floors are cooler in summer, allowing the air to circulate. It is an easy matter add rugs to a hard floor for winter warmth. Whereas it is very difficult to remove carpets for a change of season. Many hard floors can incorporate underfloor heating, is designed before installation. A floating floor or tiled floor can have any damaged section replaced. This is difficult with carpeted floors. Timber hardwood floors can be re-sanded to restore their original appearance. You can do this every 10 years, and the flor will last a century. By contrast, carpets need to be replaced every 10-20 years. #floor #renovationflooring #renovationdiscount #discountflooring #floorsale #flooringsale #tiles #walltiles #floortiles #ceramictiles #porcelaintiles #woodtiles #discounttiles #woodstyle #classictimber #woodtiles # #hardwood #bamboo #bamboofloor #engineeredfloor #engineeredtimber #discounttimber #laminate #laminateflooring #hardwoodflooring #flooroptions #bestfloor #modernfloor #engineeredwood #mid-priceflooring #midpricedflooring #cheaperflooring #cheapfloors #cheaperfloor #discountflooring #discountfloors #flooringdiscount #flooroptions #newflooroptions #style #decor #softfloor #hardfloor
06.01.2022 Bamboo Flooring Bamboo flooring is a modern option. It is growing in popularity because of its pleasing appearance, moderate cost and environmental sustainability. Bamboo can be processed to look like hardwood, or left to have a natural warm look of bamboo. It can also be given many different colours not possible with hardwood. ... Bamboo flooring is about half the price of the average hardwood floor. Bamboo is a fast growing plants, maturing in just 7 years, and easy to sustain. This is much better for the environment than hardwood which takes decades to fully mature. Bamboo is very hard and long lasting. But like almost any floor its surface will scratch if precautions are not taken. Bamboo is reasonably good with water and spills. If water is cleaned up straight away then the will be no problem. It is not really appropriate for bathrooms. 05.01.2022 Modern Cleaning Materials We have a few good cleaning products not available to our grandparents generation. There are useful options for different flooring materials. Microfibre cloths... This super fine fibres pick up the finest particles, including bacteria. They are great for cleaning almost any hard surface without scratching, so are very popular with polished car paint. Keep one of these on hand for the hardwood floor to quickly remove any spill. Steam Mops These use heat rather than chemicals to disinfect floors. Steam mops are good for tiles which will tolerate the heat. They also seem okay on vinyl if they are on a low setting. Do not use them on wood as the moisture and heat may cause damage. (Keep these steam mops away from children). Natural Cleaning Products. Natural products that are labelled green are usually a safer bet, though it is best to look up reviews of each product online. A good floor cleaner will be effective for cleaning, not cause long term damage to the floor, and have minimal impact on the environment. Best of all, they should never release harmful chemicals into the air. Never mix cleaners unless the instructions specifically allow this. #floor #renovationflooring #renovationdiscount #discountflooring #floorsale #flooringsale #tiles #walltiles #floortiles #ceramictiles #porcelaintiles #woodtiles #discounttiles #woodstyle #classictimber #woodtiles # #hardwood #discounttimber #laminateflooring #hardwoodflooring #flooroptions #engineeredwood #mid-priceflooring #midpricedflooring #cheaperflooring #cheapfloors #cheaperfloor #discountflooring #discountfloors #flooringdiscount #flooroptions #moderncleaning #naturalcleaning
05.01.2022 Rust Stains on Vinyl. Vinyl is immune to most types of staining, but rust stains can be an issue. It is best to keep any rust prone metal away from vinyl flooring. But should the vinyl be stained through misadventure then there are a few way to remove the damage. Home remedy... Cover the rust stained area in bi carb of Soda, then rub with a vinegar soaked rag. This may take a few minutes. Wash afterward with water. Stubborn stains may respond to rubbing alcohol. Commercial products. Oxalic acid products will remove rust stains, but they are quite toxic. Always wear gloves and a face mask, and only use these product in well ventilated areas. 05.01.2022 Natural Timber and Environment Concerns We are more aware today of our impact on the environment that previous generations were. It helps to understand the impact of different building materials Good quality wood can be responsibly sourced. It is a little nave to think that using wood will deprive us of trees and their positive contribution to the ecosystem. As long as more trees are constantly being planted the ecosystem can thrive. New trees, trees in the process of growin...g, will absorb CO2 from the atmosphere and provide oxygen. Growing trees provide more benefit that trees that have reached maturity. Harvesting mature trees for timber is ecologically sound. The CO2 absorbed by the tree is stored in the wood when it is used for building material. This is much better than letting the tree decompose or be burnt, which would rerelease the CO2 back into the atmosphere. Timber, and bamboo, are good quality building materials that can be responsibly sourced, benefiting or at least not compromising the environment. #floor #renovationflooring #renovationdiscount #discountflooring #floorsale #flooringsale #tiles #walltiles #floortiles #ceramictiles #porcelaintiles #woodtiles #discounttiles #woodstyle #classictimber #woodtiles #bamboofloor #bamboo #hardwood #discounttimber #laminateflooring #hardwoodflooring #flooroptions #engineeredwood #mid-priceflooring #midpricedflooring #cheaperflooring #cheapfloors #cheaperfloor #discountflooring #discountfloors #flooringdiscount #flooroptions #moderncleaning #naturalcleaning #environment #responsibletimber #environmentallyfriendly #naturaltimber

04.01.2022 Square and Bevelled Edge There are a few variations in the way that timber planks are manufactured. The edge of the timber planks can be produced in one of two general fashions. Square edge This has a completely flat top surface, with sharp edges. The floors that use these square edge planks are completely flat and smooth because the edge of each plank lines up with the edge of the next plank. ... These are easy to clean, because there is virtually no space for dust and grime to accumulate. Of course this is a little more difficult to manufacture, and any damage to the edge of an individual board will ruin the smooth floor surface. Bevelled Edge These floorboards have their edges cut back. This produces a floor with a distinct ‘V’ shape between each board. The effect is a little like brickwork, where we see the shape of each individual piece. This gives the floor a more complex look. It actually works well with minimalism design and large spaces, creating a regular pattern. It can also work well for a rustic look. Cleaning between the boards is about the only disadvantage. Micro bevel The depth of the ‘V’ groove between boards can vary in size. Micro is the smallest. Two or four bevel boards (2V or 4V) Some timber flooring has bevels only on the long side edges of the board (2V). Other timber boards have bevels on the sides and ends of the board (4V) #floor #renovationflooring #renovationdiscount #discountflooring #floorsale #flooringsale #tiles #walltiles #floortiles #ceramictiles #porcelaintiles #woodtiles #discounttiles #woodstyle #classictimber #woodtiles # #hardwood #bamboo #bamboofloor #engineeredfloor #engineeredtimber #discounttimber #laminate #laminateflooring #hardwoodflooring #flooroptions #engineeredwood #mid-priceflooring #midpricedflooring #cheaperflooring #cheapfloors #cheaperfloor #discountflooring #discountfloors #flooringdiscount #flooroptions #newflooroptions #style #decor #edge #bevel #squareedge #timberedge #2V #4V #beveledge #bevelled #bevellededge
04.01.2022 Some easy Renovations. Changing the floor can be a major renovation, as with wood, or it can be a simple matter of adding some vinyl planks. Either way the effect on the room decor is undeniable. We might want to make some further alterations to suit the changes made to the floor. - Painting the walls will really change the look of a room. You might want to do this before you replace the floor. ... - Add a row of wall tiles. A row of tiles marking the half way point between ceiling and floor can be very effective. Consider adhesive tiles. - Replace curtains. This is a change of colour. Or consider blinds. - Change cabinet handles. Try brass or stainless steel. - Wall hangings are easy. - Wall decals can be printed on home computers. Have an inspiring quote on the wall, or the mission statement. Put cartoon characters on the childrens bedrooms. - Add some light fittings or lamp shades. Perhaps a chandelier. - Change the lightbulbs so give bright daylight, warm sunset or any pleasant colour. - Changing the furniture make a big difference. - A photorealistic wall print is very effective, and will make the room look bigger. - Add mirrors to increase the sense of space and the amount of light. #floor #renovationflooring #renovationdiscount #discountflooring #floorsale #flooringsale #tiles #ceramictiles #porcelaintiles #woodtiles #discounttiles #woodstyle #classictimber #woodtiles #bamboofloor #hardwood #discounttimber #laminateflooring #hardwoodflooring #flooroptions #engineeredwood #mid-priceflooring #midpricedflooring #cheaperflooring #cheapfloors #cheaperfloor #discountflooring #discountfloors #flooringdiscount #flooroptions #renovations #cheaprenovations
03.01.2022 Flooring the Kitchen The kitchen is a high traffic area, constantly in use, and at least occasionally subject to spills from cooking. We need a floor that can handle this. There are a few options. Vinyl... This is inexpensive and versatile, because vinyl can duplicate the appearance of any flooring material. Vinyl is also water and stain resistant. Vinyl Tiles All the advantages of vinyl, plus if any section does get damaged it is easy to replace a few tile. Tiles These are very hard wearing, and will handle spills quite well. Their only drawback is that they are hard and cold underfoot. But a kitchen mat on top of the tiles will solve this. Hardwood This is expensive, but attractive. It was avoided in the past because the timber was not good with spills and kitchen stains. But modern treatments can seal and water proof the timber. So spill are no issue if cleaned up straight away. Engineered timber This is cheaper than hardwood, and easy to install. It can be water-proofed to be fairly good with spills and stains. Engineered timber can also be installed as a floating floor, not attached to the subfloor a decent DIY project. #floor #renovationflooring #renovationdiscount #discountflooring #floorsale #flooringsale #tiles #walltiles #floortiles #ceramictiles #porcelaintiles #woodtiles #discounttiles #woodstyle #classictimber #woodtiles # #hardwood #discounttimber #laminateflooring #hardwoodflooring #flooroptions #engineeredwood #mid-priceflooring #midpricedflooring #cheaperflooring #cheapfloors #cheaperfloor #discountflooring #discountfloors #flooringdiscount #flooroptions #kitchen #kitchenfloor #kitchenflooring #floatingfloor
02.01.2022 Fading Ultraviolet Light Ultraviolet light (UV) is the band of invisible energy that causes Sunburn. It can also cause paint, furnishings and flooring materials to fade and suffer other forms of damage. Regular glass windows will reduce the amount of UV inside a building, but they do not remove it entirely. This means that over time indoor floorings and furniture can suffer fading and other UV damage. When we notice that the area under a rug is darker than the rest of the f...loor, or that the floor is lighter in colour near the windows, then there is almost certainly UV fading. Window UV Protection We can protect our home floor and furnishings with UV films on windows, which block over 99% of UV rays. As a bonus these window films also reduce heat from Sunlight, keeping the home noticeably cooler in Summer. High grade flooring materials will resist fading far better than most cheaper products. Clear protective finishes on floors often provide some UV protection. Else, additives can be included with coatings like polyurethane to protect against UV damage. #floor #renovationflooring #renovationdiscount #discountflooring #floorsale #flooringsale #tiles #ceramictiles #porcelaintiles #woodtiles #discounttiles #woodstyle #classictimber #woodtiles #bamboofloor #hardwood #discounttimber #laminateflooring #hardwoodflooring #flooroptions #engineeredwood #mid-priceflooring #midpricedflooring #cheaperflooring #cheapfloors #cheaperfloor #discountflooring #discountfloors #flooringdiscount #UV #ultraviolet #UVlight #ultravioletlight

01.01.2022 A Coherent Look There are plenty of great flooring options, as well as plenty of great options for walls, curtains, benchtops and the other surfaces of a room. But these rarely installed in isolation. The various elements of a room must work together if we want things to look good. - Too much detail. No room looks good if there is too much going on.... - Use some plain surfaces to offset the textured and patterned surfaces. Use plain walls with textured stone floors, or plain floors with textured furnishings. - Light and dark surfaces can contrast well. Or different light surfaces. Too many dark surfaces rarely works well. - Contrasting colours is an old trick, but effective. - A white or crme dcor with any other colour as trim will often give good results. - Experiment with the scale of tiles large plain tiles in one surface with small detailed tiles on another surface. - If the room has a lot of furnishings and built-ins then keep the floor simple and light. This removes the feeling of cluttered detail. - Lighting and mirrors make a significant difference to a room, adding a sense of open space. - Remember that floors are quite permanent. It is easy to repaint walls or change the blinds, but floor will be there for decades. So the rest of the dcor will have to work around the look of the floor. #floor #renovationflooring #renovationdiscount #discountflooring #floorsale #flooringsale #tiles #walltiles #floortiles #ceramictiles #porcelaintiles #woodtiles #discounttiles #woodstyle #classictimber #woodtiles # #hardwood #bamboo #bamboofloor #engineeredfloor #engineeredtimber #discounttimber #laminate #laminateflooring #hardwoodflooring #flooroptions #engineeredwood #mid-priceflooring #midpricedflooring #cheaperflooring #cheapfloors #cheaperfloor #discountflooring #discountfloors #flooringdiscount #flooroptions #newflooroptions #style #decor
01.01.2022 Floor Timber Cleaning There are many safe methods of cleaning a floor. And a few bad methods that risk causing damage. Safe Methods ... Vacuuming Use a brush / sweep attachment on your vacuum. Damp Mop Mopping is good as long as the mop is not to wet. Vacuum first, then mop. Antistatic mop These are very good for a quick and effective clean. Microfibre cloths these are useful for soaking up spills, and even remove bacteria and other germs. Keep one handy for the floor.
