08.01.2022 Vale Roger French It is with sadness and shock we have to advise that Roger French passed away suddenly yesterday. Roger has been a mainstay of the paddling community for many years - a life member of West Lakes Canoe Club and Paddle SA. Roger was one of the founding members of WLCC in 1978 and has held various positions at the Club over the years, from general committee member, Treasurer and Club President. Roger was an active and enthusiastic canoe paddler with many s...uccesses at local, interstate and international competitions in his C1 and C2 with Rain Metsoja. Roger also became a great support and mentor to all the Canoe Girls whom he gave the name "Sisters of One Blade" to. Roger, with his service and enthusiasm for all things paddling, will be sadly missed by so many, not just at WLCC West Lakes Canoe Club Committee See more

08.01.2022 Regatta 4 my favourites I have taken. Will go through them again to relook later. Proud of everyone who participated today with the crazy weather.

07.01.2022 Vale Rick Bayliss It is with great sadness we inform you Rick Bayliss passed away in the early hours of this morning (Monday 10 January 2020). On behalf of all West Lakes Canoe Club Members our hearts go out to Jody and all of Rick’s family. Losing Rick is difficult for so many, but we have been so fortunate to have had him. We thank Rick for his service and loyalty to West Lakes Canoe Club. He has served as President since 2017, and has also served as a Committee Membe...r and active general Member of the club for a number of years. As well as his Committee roles, Rick was also a major driving force behind the Canoe Program at West Lakes Canoe Club, and in South Australia. Rick never waivered in his full support for the program and put his time, effort, money and heart into pursuing success for the program. Rick is our friend, we loved having him and his dreadlocks as part of our club. If he wasn’t working on the Canoe Program, he was helping members get on the water, driving boats at regattas, volunteering in any way to help the club. Otherwise you could find him in the Shopping Trolley with his mates, wearing odd thongs or no thongs at all!, and hankering for his next Coopers Pale Ale. We have lost a dear friend, and wonderful person, and losing Rick leaves a hole that cannot be filled. The family asks that you respect their need for privacy at this time.
