24.01.2022 http://2020 SEASON UPDATE// As you are aware there have been some updates and information released from the NSW Government regarding the further easing of restrictions of outdoor sports. A meeting with coaches and managers was held earlier in the week, and the Executive will meet this weekend to discuss how best to proceed with the 2020 season.... 19.01.2022 Season 2020 Update // IMPORTANT - Please Read // Dear Members of Westlakes Wildcats Football Club... A Committee meeting was convened today, Saturday 13 June 2020, and after much consideration our Committee have decided as a Club we will not be taking part in the 2020 Season. This decision has not been made lightly and is due to the current COVID-19 Pandemic. All aspects in relation to the running of this season have been assessed and we have made this decision for the health, safety and welfare of our members and the community. In reaching this decision the following was taken into account: Due to loss of players several teams were left with no reserves. There were also a number of coaches who were now unavailable. The choice of these people is fully understandable in the current situation with family health being foremost. The season extension through to 11 October with games being played throughout school holidays. This leaves numerous teams with a further shortage of players which often results in forfeit. Any games which are cancelled due to washout will not be replayed. There is no final series for competition teams. The Club would be unable to operate the canteen or BBQ. Restrictions regarding spectators. In the event of a second wave of Covid-19 the system would again be shut down and if even a single game has been played the association will not refund registration fees, due to insurance and season preparation. All sponsorship, regardless of playing or not, has to be rolled over to 2021. No sponsorship for 2020. Doubt over referee attendance. The lack of Volunteer response for help needed throughout the week as well as weekends. Only approximately 1.5 2 % of members and parents responded. In respect of registration fees there are 2 options in which players may chose. Credit a voucher is issued via Playfootball to the value paid for this year which can be used next year towards registration. This does not include the Active Kids Voucher. Refund if experiencing financial hardship your registration fee will be refunded via EFT. This does not include the Active Kids Voucher. Please be aware that either of these choices will take some time to process at this point. We will be in further contact with all members regarding your choice. Actve Kids Vouchers are not redeemable for cash. These are a Government initiative and have been divided as follows: Insurance 10% FFA 14% NNSW Football 22.8% Member Zones 22.8% Clubs 30% We will be back up and running bigger and better in 2021 and would like to take this opportunity to thank all our members for their patience and understanding during this difficult time. FFA Media - We have determined, with the full backing of all Member Federations, that the temporary suspension to sanctioned grassroots football competitions and associated training will remain in place until at least 31 May 2020... Effective from tonight - All forms of football games, training and competitions will not be permitted meaning competitions already in operation will have to halt while the winter amateur competitions due to start at the end of this month will be delayed. ... 07.01.2022 SEASON 2020 Update Important Information available to all members of the Westlakes Wildcats community!! ... A committee meeting was held today (31/05/2020) regarding training under the current COVID restrictions. Under the current Level 1 restrictions the following applies: 1. only 1 parent or carer to attend per child 2. no spectators, no permanent seating to be used, parent to remain in car 3. no socialising before or after training. You must leave immediately when finished 4. all players ensure you shower before and after training at home 5. canteen & changerooms to remain closed 6. all players to bring sanitiser for use before and after training 7. bring your own water 8. if feeling unwell or exposed to someone unwell you must not attend 9. maximum of 10 per group including the coach 10. 1/4 field per group of 10 11. passing drills and running only. No games or close contact 12. volunteers to maintain attendance records 13. volunteers to constantly clean toilets 14. volunteers to police 1.5 metre social distancing requirements The Committee decided training WILL NOT commence under Level 1 restrictions due to the number of teams (31) and space available as well as days/times. Also taking into account the number of volunteers required throughout the week. The level of restrictions may soon change to Level 2 and a further decision will be made when these requirements have been made available. However, if the restart of the season does occur on 3-4-5 July, restrictions 12, 13 & 14 will remain in place! IF the competition does restart on 3-4-5 July our club will require quite a large number of volunteers to cover these 3 restrictions which will cover all training days (4pm to 8.30pm) as well as Saturday (9am to 5pm) & Sunday games (10am to 11.30am). Competition duration from 3 July to 11 October. 06.01.2022 NEWS AROUND THE GROUND You may have recently noticed some type of construction going on between Field 1 & 2. We are super excited to announce our club is getting New Grandstands!!!... After a number of years attempting to obtain a grant for sheltered spectator seating we have finally had success. We have won a grant thanks to The Office of Responsible Gambling and the NSW Government for the construction of 10 aluminium tiered seating grandstands each with a pergola. These will be positioned between Fields No 1 & No 2 with 5 facing each field. There will also be a concrete path leading out to the grandstands from the canteen area. This improvement will make quite a huge difference for spectator comfort. Construction should begin prior to season start. BIG thanks to Peter Johnston for his assistance with the grant application and our Club President Terry Williams for his ongoing commitment to our club!!

04.01.2022 Today our Committee Members, State Member for Lake Macquarie Greg Piper, Councillor Luke Cubis, and Peter Johnston gathered together (COVID style) to celebrate the Official Opening of the new grandstands. Congratulations and a massive thank you to our Club President, Terry Williams and Peter Johnston for your hard work and dedication in successfully securing a grant to partially fund the new additions to our club that allowed this project to become a reality. Our local Commun...ity and Soccer families will be the beneficiaries of this fantastic facility for many many years to come! We cannot wait for you all to enjoy the upgrades to Fishburn Oval in the new year.
