24.01.2022 Research from around the world has shown that acupuncture is an effective treatment for pain. When used postoperatively, acupuncture not only helps in relieving... pain but also improves blood flow and aids in improving recovery thus reducing the need to take strong pain medication. 24.01.2022 Clinic update regarding COVID 19: #1 Dear Clients: Just an update to let you know the clinic operating procedures during the COVID 19 outbreak. ... At this stage the clinic and appointments will remain open. This may change with recommendations from the Aust. Govt Dept of Health. It will also depend on the recommendations of public schools. I understand you may wish to cancel your upcoming appointment, either due to cold/virus symptoms or self-isolating. Please know that I support you in this decision. If you are unwell, please stay home to protect myself and other clients. If you do wish to keep your appointment, please know that I have the following in place: * Hand sanitiser in the clinic waiting room (please use on the way in an out). * All sheets / towels will be clean and all replaced for each client. * The base layer of the massage table has been removed. * Only silicone/vinyl head cushions will be used as these can be wiped clean with one use disinfected wipes. A towel can also be an alternative. *The table and chair will be wiped down between clients. * My hands as a practitioner will continue to be washed regularly. The clinic however is a closed in space, and unfortunately the environment will not be 100% protected. It is therefore important that you make the decision personally about whether to attend the clinic. Now as a Chinese Medicine Practitioner, as you would expect, I have been reading a lot about how China has been treating COVID 19. While the scope of herbal medicine and the formulas suggested in studies are outside my training, as an acupuncturist, I am very happy to discuss this with you and look at treatment options for you. There are few acupuncture studies, however mainly herbal medicine was used in the hospital setting in China. The way we view and diagnose the virus are the same. Tongue coats have been very interesting to observe. Each client has a different constitution and I can provide some helpful tips. All Chinese medicine academics emphasise that this epidemic is characterised by damp, cold and toxicity, which lead to heat and stasis. If we can keep our Zheng Qi (immune system) strong, we can avoid the worst effects. My advice is therefore to protect yourself from cold, damp, wet weather. Consume warm drinks, soups leading into this changeable weather. Keep warm. Avoid excessive cold, raw foods that can put a strain on your digestive system. Avoid greasy, sugary foods. Be kind on your digestive system to protect your Spleen/Stomach function (need to resolve any damp). Get plenty of sleep and stay calm. I will keep you updated on any changes. Please feel free to contact me if you have any concerns. Nicole Rupp Westleigh Acupuncture and Massage

23.01.2022 Clinic update regarding COVID 19: #2 As of today, Monday 23rd March, Westleigh Acupuncture and Massage will close its doors due to the COVID-19 virus. The WHO regards traditional medicine practise (including Acupuncture) as Primary care. The Australian Government regards Allied health as primary care. In other words, Acupuncturists can choose to stay open. ... However, as the current recommendations for NSW School students are to move to online learning from home, I will be choosing to close my clinic doors to support my two children. My husband is also working from home and therefore we have the opportunity to limit our exposure and/or slow the spread of the virus. All clients booked in over the next month should have received a text. Please respond when you can. I will advise in the future when I will open the clinic doors, but it is safe to assume there will be no changes until Term 2 (just after ANZAC DAY). As these a very trying times, please call my mobile if you need any support. I will most likely love the distraction! Wishing you all the best, Nicole Rupp Registered Acupuncturist.

Co...mbining with tui na (Chinese remedial massage) or gua sha, another body work treatment used in Chinese medicine, enhances and improves the relief. 17.01.2022 Clinic update regarding COVID 19: #4 Westleigh Acupuncture and Massage is OPENING! I am pleased to announce that the clinic will re-open Monday 25th May for Acupuncture only. At this stage massage will NOT be offered to maintain social distancing as much as possible over the next couple of weeks. I will communicate when the clinic is open massage.... I am also pleased to announce that the clinic has been upgraded with the following: A new online booking system : Bookings can be made by the link (see previous post), or Facebook via a desktop. As this system is new, I apologise in advance if there are any teething problems. If preferred, you can still call/text me for your appointments. New purchase: The clinic has purchased a Medical grade electromagnetic therapeutic dual head heat lamp. Hopefully this lamp will somewhat make up for not having a massage! The lamp projects a narrow band of infrared rays that are specifically suited to subsurface heating of the human body. This type of heat increases blood circulation to injured areas, promoting tissue repair. Further information will be provided in the clinic. I hope you are all well and when you are comfortable seeking treatment, please make contact. Looking forward to normalising life again. Nicole Rupp Westleigh Acupuncture and Massage
15.01.2022 Clinic update regarding COVID 19: #3 As of today, Thursday 7th May, Westleigh Acupuncture and Massage continues to have its doors closed. As mentioned in my update #2, Acupuncturists are Allied Health Providers and can remain open. My choice to close has been driven by NSW Dept of Education and reducing the risk of spreading the virus for my family.... As NSW Public schools are starting to re-open, I will be looking at reopening once they are open for the majority of the week and/or full-time. When this date is confirmed, I will let you know when the clinic will be open. In the meantime, any clients are more than welcome to call me to seek advice (or just to have a chat :) ). Thank you for your patience, and in the meantime know that when the clinic does re-open I will be implementing control measures to minimise the spread of COVID-19 and ensure the health and safety of my patients and myself. These will be communicated at a later date with up-to-date guidelines. Nicole Rupp Registered Acupuncturist
14.01.2022 #Fertilityapps Best to see medical /alternative medicine advice regarding tracking your fertility, rather than relying on apps. Learning how to track using Basal Body temperature and body signs are very effective. For more information please contact Nicole.
