19.01.2022 Our Coach Andrew will be wearing odd and very bright socks on pool deck today. Why you may ask? This is about raising awareness for Sarcoma by wearing odd socks and helping Sock it to Sarcoma. Sarcoma is a group of rare primary bone and soft tissue tumours, given a number of different names depending on the type of tissue from which they arise. There are over 30 variants of bone cancer, and over 150 variations of all sarcomas. Some varieties most commonly arise in children, ...adolescents and young adults and in adults over the age of 55. The causes of sarcoma, including whether or not there are any underlying genetic links, are not yet established. This is the reason why more research into the molecular biology and etiology is so crucial. Andrew is passionate about raising awareness and raising research dollar for this cancer. Sarcoma receives less than 1% of the allocated research dollar in Australia and around the world. If you feel like being a bit crazy today - pull on some odd socks and join him!

17.01.2022 Rescheduling of the 2020 Lifesaving World Championships (LWC 2020) Following the decision on 19 March 2020 to postpone LWC2020 due to the global Covid-19 pandem...ic, the ILS has discussed alternative solutions with the Italian Lifesaving Federation (FIN) and with the host of the LWC 2022. Both agreed with the proposed plan, which is to move the LWC 2020 to 2022, to keep the LWC 2024 at the Gold Coast, Australia and to plan the LWC 2026 in Agadir, Morocco. The ILS Board of Directors has now decided by a postal ballot to approve this plan. The LWC 2022 will now take place in Riccione, Italy from 16 September to 2 October 2022. The reasons for rescheduling LWC 2020 to 2022 and not to 2021 are contained in a letter on the ILS Website, which also outlines the next steps that will now be taken. https://www.ilsf.org//26April2020-Rescheduling-of-LWC-2020 A point of contact for further information is given in the letter.

The club returns to the pool again this weekend. The West Life Saving club offers Pool Life Saving training for swimmers aged 13yrs+ to build Pool Life Saving Racing skills and to complement the work they do with their existing swim squads.
