24.01.2022 When we are triggered inside trauma we aren’t just reacting to this one moment. We are reacting to all the times we’ve felt this way before. Emotions that are still so raw, can feel like waves that hit out of nowhere, but it’s not out of nowhere it’s an accumulation. This is ok and normal. You aren’t ‘over reacting.’

22.01.2022 It’s recommended we #Tryfor5 serves of veggies each day. But what does a serving of veg actually look like? Here’s five measurements to help you #Tryfor5: - cup cooked green or orange vegetables (for example, broccoli, spinach, carrots or pumpkin) - cup cooked dried or canned beans, peas or lentils (preferably with no added salt) - 1 cup green leafy or raw salad vegetables... - cup sweet corn - medium potato or other starchy vegetables (sweet potato, taro or cassava) - 1 medium tomato See more

22.01.2022 Did you know that just 7% of Australian adults and 5% of children meet the recommended guidelines for 5 serves of veggies each day? In fact, the average Australian eats only half as much vegetables as they should! Yet, the largest proportion of food waste in NSW a whopping 33% comes from fresh produce. Reducing food waste while enjoying a more sustainable diet packed with vegetables is the basis for better health, reduces the risk of chronic disease and ensures a healthy ...food supply for future generations. Let’s make a change for better health this National Nutrition Week, and what better way to Try for 5 than by filling our plate with sustainable foods that have the power to improve our health and the health of our planet. One way we can do that is by looking in our own backyard to our native Australian ingredients! That’s why Nutition Australia NSW’s events encourage everyone to Try for 5 by thinking about ‘My Plate, My Planet’ how your plate affects your health and the planet. Join us from 11-17 October as we celebrate healthy and sustainable foods!

21.01.2022 It can be hard to fully grasp what infertility involves unless you’ve dealt with it personally, many people believe that it’s all about the end game, a baby - that if you could just get to that prize, the pain of infertility would fade away. But infertility is bigger than babies. I say this often, because I want people to get it. It truly is. It can affect our physical and mental health in insidious and sometimes enduring ways. https://www.nytimes.com//the-lasting-trauma-of-infertility

18.01.2022 A lesser-known reason for difficulties conceiving is that men often don’t test their sperm early enough. In many cases, the focus is all on the woman, while her partner doesn’t get tested for a while. https://hauteliving.com//if-youre-a-man-or-woman-dealing-w

14.01.2022 Holiday closures 2020/2021 Westmead Fertility Centre wishes everyone a safe and relaxed break over the holiday season, even if this year is a little different to others... Westmead Fertility Centre will be closed from 2pm Friday 18 December 2020 and until 7am Monday 4 January 2021. We will have a very limited team working over the holiday period. If you are a current patient, any contact with our team during this time should be made by logging into your Patient Portal and leaving a message. Response time will be slower than usual due to public holidays and our limited team. However, if you are experiencing pain, severe nausea or abdominal bloating after egg collection (OPU), or pain or bleeding in early pregnancy, please contact the doctor on call for Westmead Fertility Centre. Call the Westmead Hospital switchboard on (02) 8890 5555 and ask for the on-call fertility consultant to be contacted on your behalf. Alternatively, you should present to your nearest emergency department. If you would like to commence a fresh egg collection treatment cycle (IVF/ICSI) in early 2021, we will attempt to coordinate this if your period arrives on or after 4 January 2021. Please ensure you have all of your pre-treatment requirements arranged, including scripts and medications, before the holiday season begins. Details of your pre-treatment requirements can be found in your Patient Portal. We have limited availability for frozen treatment cycles over the holiday period. If you wish to start a frozen cycle over this time, please log into your Patient Portal on the first or second day of your period and we will contact you for a discussion within 4 days of your request. Please ensure you complete all of the required information to permit an appropriate review by our team. For further information visit: https://www.westmeadfertilitycentre.com.au/holiday-closure/
