24.01.2022 Thank you Old Scholars Darren Thomas ('90) and Crawford Giles ('86) for playing such major roles in the opening of the School's new Thomas Pavilion, with its north facing Mawson Giles Stand facing the Main Oval. A fantastic addition for sport at Westminster!

24.01.2022 Congratulations Sam Ackland '(08) - well deserved!

21.01.2022 What a fabulous photo of Class of 2017 Old Scholars Georgina Forrest, Ben Karnon, Nicola Nimon, Andra Dowse and Will Beinke. This great photo by Brenton Edwards appeared in the Sunday Mail, 7 June 2020 on p11, in an article by journalist Chris Russell, about the National Wine Centre footy food packs. I'm hoping no-one minds us sharing it this way since it couldn't be located online. It's too good to not give it a showing!

20.01.2022 It's not long until the Class of 2020 will become our youngest Old Scholars. Thanks Josh Langman ('19) for helping put together this capture of the Year 12s' last day of home sport in a year that has not been the kindest to sporting competitions.

20.01.2022 While not Old Scholars yet (Class of 2025), Ryan and Lucia in Year 7 (here with Westminster Principal Simon Shepherd) will be among the first students to experience the amazing learning opportunities that will stem from the opening of the Innovation and Inquiry Hub in Term 4. To maximise student learning, we invite you to collaborate with us to share your ideas, knowledge and expertise in Science, Technology, Design, Food, Fashion, Material Solutions and Sport, and more, helping our students benefit from your ‘real life’ experience. Can you help? Westminster Project Officer Partnerships, Brooke Down would love to hear from you, E: [email protected]

17.01.2022 The Westminster Boarder Parent's Cow Pat Lotto is underway in Clare! If you have a winning number, it's all thanks to ''Dream'!

17.01.2022 Congratulations to Joel Dyer, Class of 2019, who has been 'Welcomed to the Forest' as the Australian standout recruit to become a 'Forester' when he joins the men's basketball class at Huntington University, USA. You may recall Joel in his starring role in the School's Intercol Basketball video that went viral in 2019. Talented Joel is "super excited" to head to the USA, having seriously impressed HU's Men's Basketball Coach, Kory Alford; read the article below. Joel follows Old Scholar friend Jarryd Hoppo ('18), currently at Southern Utah University, into the elite USA world of university basketball. We are proud to have these two amazing Old Scholars as great ambassadors in the US for Westminster and South Australia!

14.01.2022 Just before the School's new Inquiry and Innovation Hub opened to student learning, our Chairman of School Council Phillip Styles welcomed Old Scholars Aaron Superina (‘01), Darren Thomas (’90), Dale Roberts (’90), Nick Hart (‘95), Phil Harris (‘98) and Ben Lucas (’89) for a preview tour of the Hub and Sports Pavilion. Our guest Old Scholars are all members of the YPO (Young Presidents Organisation) SA Chapter. Local YPO members run highly successful businesses that employ many thousands of South Australians and we are proud to have such high Old Scholar representation within this organisation.

12.01.2022 Great to welcome a special visitor to Westminster School today - Dr Roger Sinclair. Our Head of Science for 38 years, Roger's speciality was Chemistry. Roger met with current Curriculum Leader of Science Jason Greenslade in the School's new home of Science, the fantastic Inquiry and Innovation Hub that has replaced the old Carter Laboratories that served us for nearly 60 years. As of now, the Carter is undergoing a transformation to become the home of Creative Arts and Digital Media in 2021.

12.01.2022 Following on from last week's Joel Dyer post, here are some more of our international Old Scholar stars who are currently signed to US Universities, thanks to their elite performances on court or track: Basketballer Lizzy Williamson ('19) is at Utah State, while track athlete Casey Buchanan ('18) is at WKU (Western Kentucky University) and track athlete Faith Pearson-McKenzie ('19) is signed to FAU (Florida Atlantic University), although Faith is patiently waiting for the day beyond COVID-19 when she can physically join them. To all Old Scholar US scholarship holders, it's fantastic to see your sporting abilities recognised at this international level - you all deserve your successes!

12.01.2022 We sadly share that Ken Prouse, a former staff member of Westminster School, passed away on Monday 4 May 2020. Ken taught at Westminster from 1963 to 1985. He was appointed as the School’s Senior French Teacher, with French being the alternative language of choice during that time. Following a short time in the Boarding House, Ken took over as Head of Carter House in 1966, a role he held until his retirement in 1985. He was also the Senior Hockey coach for many years.... Ken remained in contact with the School following his retirement and became a valued Trustee of the Foundation. A respected member of the School community, Ken was asked after frequently at Old Scholar Reunions. Well into his 90s, Ken's health eventually precluded him from attending Westminster events yet he retained a keen interest in the School in his retirement. Another Westminster legend is gone but not forgotten.

10.01.2022 All the best for Westminster's First XVIII today in their match against Sacred Heart. It will be strongly contested and livestreamed at advertiser.com.au from 2.15 pm. We've a great team, with many set to become future WOS Football Club stars. Go Dragons!

10.01.2022 Some top pics of the School, including the new builds - what a great space!

08.01.2022 Go Boarder Parents' Association - only 12 tickets left in the Cow Pat Lotto with great odds to take out a prize! follow the lead below as posted by BPA President Bec Dixon, amazing partner of Old Scholar Tim Dixon ('89), and you could be a winner!

06.01.2022 There are some very exciting developments underway at Westminster. The video (see link below) from Principal Simon Shepherd has some great footage of what is happening at the School. When completed, we'll look forward to inviting Old Scholars back to Westminster to check them out!

06.01.2022 Congratulations!

06.01.2022 At this time of year, we would normally be celebrating Old Scholars’ Day and Week but we've settled for Old Scholars’ Day Assembly with the remarkable Prof Daniel Thomas (’92) from Adelaide University/SAHMRI. Half the students were inside the Murray Centre and the rest saw it streamed to their class. A different approach but thankful that we could recognise the importance of Old Scholars within our Westminster community, even if with a substantially reduced guest list. A huge... thank you to Daniel for being our special guest, here with Principal Simon Shepherd, WOSA Committee Representative Carly Aherne ('03), School Captain Kaine and Vice Captain Ruby. No new reunion dates have been set for the years that haven't had their celebration (1, 5, 20, 25, 30, 40, 50 years) in 2020 but we are hopeful to do something collectively before the year ends. Thank you for your understanding. Finally, a shout out to our Old Scholars on the eastern side of Australia who have been affected by the lockdowns. We're thinking of you all and hope that you can stay safe and healthy.

05.01.2022 Another great Intercol with Pembroke. It's Westminster's turn next year to play host, and the new Sports Pavilion will play a starring role! Top effort from all involved!

04.01.2022 Attention Old Scholars! This year's Golden Keys fundraising event for sport at Westminster will be a very special occasion in the new Thomas Pavilion. There are less than 20 tickets left and here's hoping for a sellout and a solid show of support for our young Dragons. A special dinner by celebrity chef Callum Hann, wines by Old Scholar Ben (Mr) Riggs ('80) and a panel of former AFL stars are all included in your ticket plus your donation is tax deductible. Check out the details through the link below... Go Dragons!

04.01.2022 Attention all Old Scholars - particularly if you love cricket! The School's next Cricket Tour is planned for New Zealand in 2021 and here's an opportunity to support the touring team while having a great day at the inaugural Super Sixes Challenge! And there's more - your sporting base on the day will be the new Thomas Pavilion (the School's very own answer to Lords!). Get some mates together, and I know a few die-hard cricket tragics myself, and be one of the six teams to take part in this dream challenge! There's more information through www.trybooking.com/BMENR and in this week's eNews or contact me for a flyer. Peter Trenorden ('77) WOSAEO

02.01.2022 Nice video from Uni SA starring our very own Sam Rogers ('14) - good on you Sam!
