25.01.2022 Congratulations to Aidan Ross (Clark) and Kimberley Li (Carter) who have been named as our 2021 School Captain and Vice Captain! We are excited to see what 2021 brings for Aidan and Kim as they step into this new role.
25.01.2022 It was a day of fun in the pool today as our Prep students finished up their week with our annual Swimming Carnival! A highlight of the day was the novelty unicorn races, and although it was a close race with different Houses in first throughout the day, our congratulations goes to Charter for winning the 2020 Carnival! #Swimming #SwimmingCarnival #SwimmingPool #WestminsterSchool #WS
25.01.2022 Following the message from the Honourable Scott Morrison MP, Prime Minister of Australia that we shared with you last week, we are excited to give you an inside view into how our students are embracing our new Inquiry and Innovation Hub. The Prime Minister encouraged our students to never lose their curiosity, and the Hub provides the perfect location for them all to achieve more they thought possible. #Inquiry #Innovation #InquiryAndInnovationHub #STEAM #Science #Technology #Engineering #Fashion #Design
25.01.2022 Congratulations to Tyren, Austin, Andrew and Phoenix who have been announced as finalists in the Governor’s Civics Award! This award was opened up to students as part of the Civics & Citizenship component of the Australian Curriculum, which is embedded into our Year 10 Business Course. Each student had to create their own political party with platforms, a logo, posters and flyers, make how to vote" cards, create a video and powerpoint presentation, and then pitch their party to their class in an attempt to persuade them to vote for them - not an easy task! You can find out more about our Business and Entrepreneurship program at www.westminster.school/business-entrepreneurship #GovernorsCivicsAward #CivicsAndCitizenship #Business #Entrepreneurship #WestminsterSchool #WS
25.01.2022 Congratulations to our Middle Girls' Football Coach, @annehatchard on being named the @crowsaflw 2020 Club Champion! #football #girlsfootball
25.01.2022 Congratulations to all the students and staff involved in our Junior Play, 'Alice - Alive in Wonderland'. Based loosely on the classic tale, "Alice in Wonderland," the show was a whacky exploration of what goes on in someone's head when they're growing up. Despite facing some hurdles through the rehearsal process, the talented class put on an outstanding production, and go down in Westminster's history as our first ever virtual Junior Play!

22.01.2022 Today we came together as a school to observe Remembrance Day, a day where we commemorate the loss of Australian lives in all wars, conflicts and peace operations across the world, on the anniversary of the day the guns fell silent at the end of World War 1. Our student-led service allowed all staff and students to acknowledge and show gratitude for the sacrifices made by others for our freedoms. Lest We Forget. #RemembranceDay #ArmisticeDay #LestWeForget #WestminsterSchool #WS
22.01.2022 Congratulations to our very own Leader for Wellbeing, Mae Johnson, who has been awarded a Westfield Local Hero Award! 21.01.2022 COVID has presented some challenges for our students to engage in the Round Square ideal of service this year, however our Year 10 Fricker tutor group did not let this stand in the way of helping our local community. They put their thinking caps on, and during Term 3, combined forces with our Round Square group to organise and collect donations for Foodbank SA! Thank you to the generosity of the Westminster community, right from the ELC to the Senior School, we were able to donate 322kgs of food goods, which is equivalent to 614 meals for those in need. #service #foodbanksa #foodbank #community #RoundSquare

19.01.2022 Mathematics prepares students for careers that require insight into problems and problem-solving in its broadest sense. Get a feel for our Maths Program and the passionate team behind it. Enjoying maths is really important. I want all the students to leave school feeling that they’re good at maths and that they’ve absolutely enjoyed it. Angela Phillips Curriculum Leader of Mathematics... #WS #WestminsterSchool #Mathematics
19.01.2022 As one of the few schools in South Australia that have our own on-campus working farm, our Agriculture Program is hands-on and covers a wide variety of Agricultural Industries, giving our students first-hand knowledge and experience, to close the gap between school and industry. For me, Science lives out here. It doesn’t live in a textbook. You want to be able to touch it, smell it, physically do it, so for me the ag program is beautiful as far as getting those kids involved... 18.01.2022 We wish the best of luck to our Year 6/7 Knockout Netball team who will compete in the State Knockout Netball finals at Priceline Stadium tomorrow! 17.01.2022 During these unusual times, you may have noticed in yourself and others, an unfamiliar increase in anxiety. Heightened anxiety is a natural response of the human brain working in the way it has evolved to do so - which is, to be on alert for danger or threat. A worldwide pandemic certainly fits the bill as far as our brains are concerned! Our Head of Wellbeing, Liz Collins has put together some personal reminders that we can all use to help manage our wellbeing during these times. For more information on these tips, check out the latest wellbeing article on our website - www.westminster.sa.edu.au/wellbeing-tips

16.01.2022 Book Week starts this week and across the whole campus, we are celebrating the delight that reading and books provide! Hear from our passionate Head of English about the exceptional Senior School English Program we offer at Westminster. The best teaching moments are those moments where you know the student has developed not only proficiency in writing and structuring a response well but in thinking about a text in a way they haven’t thought of before. 16.01.2022 Our Year 10 Business and Enterprise students have had an incredibly successful year, taking out 1st place in SA in the ASX Sharemarket game! The Sharemarket Game is a virtual game that allows students to trade over 200 ASX listed shares with a pool of $50,000 in virtual currency, giving them the opportunity to develop an industry understanding of the ASX. The Westminster syndicate of Hollie, Lachie, Natalie and Gus did so well with their shares management, that they placed 12th out of all the syndicates in Australia! Go Westies! #ASX #Shares #Sharemarket #SharemarketGame #SharemarketEducation #WestminsterSchool #WS
16.01.2022 Our online learning is powering along and it’s great to see this given the circumstances and short notice! 14.01.2022 Our Year 11/12 Drama Production, Four Pay Days... was a piece that explored what it is to be homeless in this land of plenty. In Adelaide, an estimated 6,000 people each night are homeless, with up to 30% thought to be under eighteen. The students involved presented an engaging, memorable performance, playing a range of characters to demonstrate how homelessness doesn't fit a single stereotype. Paul Edginton, CEO of SYC a not-for-profit organisation committed to providing ser...vices that foster wellbeing, independence and opportunity for all Australians, said, "I was so impressed with the production and the quality of the interpretation of characters achieved by each of the performers. [The play] conveyed brilliantly the lost sense of home - the loss of trust, family, comfort and safety[as well as]the misunderstandings of behaviour that appears aggressive but is often an expression of grief and pain that has gone unresolved. It was a rich and wonderful performance." See more
14.01.2022 Greatness is All Around You is a poem of gratitude written by Year 9 students Ella and Michelle, which our Year 10 Visual Arts students then created a Design Animation piece about, based on their interpretation of the poem. An amazing example of student collaboration! Greatness is all around you Reach for your goals and help others achieve the same Appreciate the little things ... Take the time to brighten others days Inspire each other to do the same Treat others with kindness and respect Understand life is not always perfect Don’t bring others down, but lift them up Enjoy life and continue to give back #Collaboration #Gratitude #GiveBack #VisualArts #Poetry #DesignAnimation #WestminsterSchool #WS
13.01.2022 This week, 14 Westminster students competed in the Volleyball SA Schools Beach Volleyball Festival at Glenelg, where the battle wasn’t always just the opposition on the other side of the court, but also the elements thrown up by the weather! Despite the lack of experience playing volleyball on sand, our students provided their opposition with great competition. Our Year 9 and Year 10 Boys' teams both finished 1st place in their division, with our Year 9 Girls team finishing a very commendable 3rd place. Perhaps we have some budding beach volleyballers among us! #Volleyball #BeachVolleyball #VolleyballSA #Glenelg

08.01.2022 Sadly, despite our best efforts, today we weren't able to come together to celebrate the Valedictory Service of our Class of 2020, however, if this group of students have taught us anything this year, it is the importance of resilience and finding new ways to do things. We were able to invite our Year 12 students to a virtual ceremony this afternoon to allow some of our staff to acknowledge their year and the contribution they've made to Westminster. It also allowed Mathematics Teacher, Matthew Stone to present his speech that he was due to give at our Valedictory Dinner this evening. Matthew was asked to be the guest speaker at the Dinner by the 2020 School Leaders, and we are delighted to be able to share his speech with you.
08.01.2022 Our Visual Arts and Creative Arts students were recently able to showcase the results of their hard work throughout this year at our annual exhibition. The opening night featured a Fashion Show in the Chapel, where our Stage 2 Fashion Design students were able to display their garments, as well as an outdoor concert by some of our Music students.
