22.01.2022 Hi everyone I hope you all had a merry Christmas and happy new year. As you may have noticed our logo has changed that is because we are changing styles from Itosu Shito-ryu to Goju-ryu karate. While the training will remain similar there will be some changes, in particular the kata will change and we will be a part of a worldwide organisation headed up by 10th Dan Sensei Morio Higaonna. On top of this we have the Chief instructor of Australia Sensei Joe Roses 7th Dan in Canb...erra who recently received the Order of Australia medal for his services in martial arts. This will be the 5th club in Qld, 1 in Caloundra, 1 Brisbane, 2 in Rockhampton area. There are a number of events coming up, that if we could get as many people to attend that would be great. 1. Saturday 16th January - general reopening meeting and information 2. Monday 18th January- hopefully we will be able to reopen just awaiting confirmation for start date from hall owners. 3. First Gasshuku (training seminar/camp) 13-14th March 2021 hosted at Caloundra where Chief instructor Sensei Joe Roses and AOGKF committee member 4th Dan Sensei David Lambert will provide expert and high level training to all that attend. Please check out the website it has lots of information if you have any further questions please don't hesitate to ask. www.australiakarate.com Look forward to seeing many of you on 16th and with any luck all of you on the 18th. I will keep you all posted. Have a great week. -Ed

21.01.2022 Welcome back to 2021 thank you to everyone that attended our reopening. Looking forward to seeing you all again.

19.01.2022 It is official!!! Remember to come to our information meeting this Saturday 9am at Ripley Splash'N'play for all questions answered on what the transition from Shito Ryu to Goju Ryu will mean for you. We can't wait to see you all in the dojo!

17.01.2022 The official reopening is tonight! I hope you are all excited and ready to jump back on the dojo floor. Some important information for tonight: -every student and family member must stay outside and physically distance until they are informed they can enter the building -every student and family member present must sign in as they enter to dojo... -Masks will be available for 12 yrs+ students if you don't already own one -hand sanitiser will be provided and must be used before bowing onto the dojo floor -full contact is permitted on the dojo floor under the supervision of trained perfessionals as by the Return to Play covid safe plan. Bowing in is providing consent to participate to this lesson plan, please inform us before class if you do NOT consent. As of this morning the church public toilets (in the carpark) are out of order due to a plumbing issue, however the internal Church toilets will be unlocked for our convenience until this is resolved. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to approach or contact Sempai Emma via messenger or at the dojo tonight.

13.01.2022 Another wonderful session tonight. Thank you for everyone who is attending. A little bit of administration to help straighten out a little confusion with the new system... The registration forms are still available at the dojo for everyone who wants to continue training. Please fill one out for each student, send the payment to AOGKF head office via the bank details on the form, place the receipt number on the form and sign it before giving it back to Sensei Ed or Sempai Emm...a at the dojo. For training fees please pay cash to Sempai Emma at the dojo or deposit into the WAMA bank account (these details are unchanged). If you have any hesitations then please message us for the correct details. Gi's will be available at the dojo for purchase for $30 each. We have some sizes already in stock, however there might be a slight delay while we get some more in if we run out of any sizes. Options for second hand Gi's might be available. Enquire with Sempai Emma at the dojo. See you all on Saturday!
