24.01.2022 An Important Message from the Board It is with regret that the Board of the Society along with the National Show Committee, announce the cancellation of the 202...0 National Show that was due to take place in Tamworth AELEC from 9th to 13th September. We know this will come as an enormous disappointment, not only to our competitors, exhibitors and sponsors but to our many Members in general who have enjoyed attending our National Show over many years. This is a decision made at the Board Meeting on the 9th & 10th June and was not taken lightly. There are two overriding concerns that have caused us to make this decision at this time. First, is the uncertainty caused by the fact of the unknown health restrictions with COVID 19 that could be in place, in early September at AELEC and the possible health regulations and rules around running a major event at this time. Nominations would need to open in early July and with this in mind, we did not want to be cancelling the event at a later date should the situation change in the next few months. The Board also felt the option of moving to a later date again, could possibly clash with other Branch Shows and events which they wanted to avoid. Second, is our primary concern and the responsibility we have to our Members and the financial implications on the Show recording a substantial loss given the many uncertain factors to producing a successful event. We are currently confirming the dates for the 2021 National Show and hope to be able to release these soon to all Members. In order to accommodate the Futurity and Maturity classes and the Fountain of Youth Sale that will not take place this year, the Board is considering running two, three, four and five year old classes for the Triple Crown and a yearling, two and three old FOY Sale next year. Further information will be advised as we develop a program for 2021.

18.01.2022 Friends and members of South Queensland ASHS, I would like to let you know that I have made the decision to run for the up coming Directors position. This decis...ion was made from many conversations with members about the Australian Stock Horse Society's future and what their expectations of a Directors role are. Many concerns were expressed; *Costs of membership and rego's *Education and training of youth *education, training and support of judge's *A fair and honest process for disciplinary actions And the most common was better communication from Directors to the Branches and members. I understand the need to improve these factors in a way that is for the members and not for personal gain. I have not made this decision lightly and endeavour to be that person that's interested in your thoughts and ideas, with a strong passion for the Stock Horse, I understand that this breed is loved by many disciplines all needing an equal opportunity to be represented. You are important! You are the Society! If you have any questions please feel free to message me. See more

15.01.2022 Phillip Kirkby It is with deep sadness that we advise of the passing of Phillip Kirkby on Friday, 19th June 2020. Phillip was a foundation member of the Societ...y and served on the ASHS Board for a total of 26 years. Phillip was a passionate ASH Breeder and the KIRKBYS STUD horses need no introduction in the performance horse arena. As a breeder, competitor and judge, Phillip set very high standards. Phillip dedicated a lifetime to breeding quality horses and was awarded Honorary Life Membership of the ASHS in 2015 and in 2019 was awarded the Warwick Show and Rodeo Society, Warwick Tribute to Australian Campdrafting. Phillip registered a grey stallion by the name KIRKBYS COBALT IS HSH (ABBEY FS HSH/miss radiant) in October 1971. This was to be the first of 464 registered ASHs bred by Phillip. Phillip always wanted to breed the best and focused on strong mare lines to produce predictable progeny. Whether it was breeding Australian Stock Horses, cattle, chooks or sheep his philosophy was to incorporate genetics, background and visual appraisal. Phillip is reported to be the only person to have entered five sections at the Royal Easter Show in Sydney: horses, cattle, sheep, fowls and vegetables. Phillips contribution to the Society and his depth of knowledge has been invaluable and on behalf of the Directors, Management and Staff of the ASHS we would like to extend our sincere condolences to Phillips family and friends at this time. Phillip will be sadly missed but long remembered. Phillips funeral will be held on Friday, 3rd July at the Moree Cemetery. A time is yet to be confirmed.

04.01.2022 Important message on the 2020 National Youth Show Dear Members It is with great regret that the 2020 Youth National Committee in conjunction with the Victorian ...Management Council and the National Board is announcing the cancellation of the 2020 Youth National Show. The committee with the full support of the board considered all options from progressing with the original dates, to postponing until the next school holidays and then as a last resort cancelling the event. With COVID restrictions and requirements being extremely fluid, the committee felt the responsible action was to cancel the event. The event was starting to take shape tremendously, with the venue working to upgrade the Campdraft arena and was expanding the stabling capacity at site in time for the event. Unsolicited sponsorship and support was flooding in with over half of the sponsorship slots already filled. We would like to thank all the sponsors, judges, volunteers and members that had already offered support to this event and we look forward to the 2021 50th Anniversary event to be held at White Park in Scone. David Nash Chairperson Victorian Management Council
