16.01.2022 Four fisherman are particularly thankful they had a West Offshore life raft on board as their vessel struck rocks in the pre-dawn darkness off the south coast of NSW and began to rapidly take on water. They managed to get off a May Day call and activate their EPIRB before evacuating the sinking vessel and boarding the West Offshore life raft. This illustrates that even highly experienced mariners can find themselves in life threatening situations. Having life saving equipment... on your vessel, be it recreational or commercial, should be your highest priory. Don't risk becoming a statistic. Don't leave port without a life raft! 14.01.2022 Fremantle Volunteer Sea Rescue took this photo last week in Cockburn Sound. Luckily rescue was close by. Great work by Freo Sea Rescue! Things can go wrong when you're out at sea. 09.01.2022 A West Offshore life raft saved the lives of two fishermen off the coast of Carnarvon earlier this month. The commercial fishing vessel caught fire and quickly sank in the middle of the night in high winds and rough seas. The two crew were able to launch the life raft and set off the emergency beacon (EPIRB) contained within the raft. The Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) promptly dispatched a jet aircraft from Perth to search for the crew. Prior to spotting the lif...e raft AMSA alerted vessels in the area to join the search. Upon spotting the raft AMSA directed a nearby freighter to the location and the crewmen were rescued approximately 4 hours after their vessel sank in shark infested waters.
