25.01.2022 Just as the preparation builds on the field so does the preparation off it. Life Member, Neil Fellows, has been working his magic on the grounds since the season finished and it was no different on Sunday when he was aerating the field. This is the work which can go unnoticed so, next time you look and admire the pitch - think of legends like Neil who make it all happen. Thanks mate!!! #COYB

18.01.2022 If your hips and feet move you increase the chances of being in position to secure the ball safely. Using your feet and hips to move you into position will help get your hands into the best position possible and being balanced on impact.

12.01.2022 It’s a key element of a modern day goalkeeper to be able to not only play out short but also identify when the space is beyond or between lines and being effect...ive with our distribution. Only way we improve our ability and confidence in using both our natural and non natural foot is to practice. It starts with supporting the player, then preparation and movement, being able to see both ball and field; then adjust as the ball is travelling to set up and give yourself the best opportunity at striking the ball cleanly and effectively to the targeted player. Keep your head down and ankle locked on connection with the ball. More we can perform, more we can get involved in the game! #heretoprogress #goalkeeper #goalkeepertraining #keeper #keepertraining #coaching #lovewhatyoudo #training #progression #practice See more
11.01.2022 - Vale Max Lucchesi - The Weston Workers Bears Football Club is saddened at the news of Max Lucchesi's passing. Max Lucchesi brought enormous success to Weston in the early to mid 1970s winning honours in 1971, 1972, 1976 & 1977. ... He was at the helm of some outstanding playing groups. 1971 was full of stars and 1977 is often put forward as one of the best Weston teams. Life Member, Col Forster, upon hearing the news reflected "Max is remembered as very reserved and fair. Importantly, he knew the boundaries between coach and player. He was good.... VERY GOOD!!!" Those of us who never met Max certainly knew who he was soon enough. Looking at the successful Weston teams his face and name is ever-present. To the immediate and extended family and friends of Max Lucchesi we offer our sincere condolences. Max's legacy will always be celebrated and remembered.
10.01.2022 The NNSW Football, Jennings Medal, was held over the weekend and the Bears were recognised in two awards. Jarryd Sutherland was named Co-Young Player of the Year. This underlines his performances and the terrific ability Jarryd possesses. We are all delighted for him - well done mate. The Bears also were awarded the 'Fair Play Award' for season 2020.... The club also offers our congratulations to all the other award winners in season 2020.
08.01.2022 This Saturday the club had an opportunity to present one of our annual awards and two very special honours. Kas Dodgson was awarded the 'Neville Ridley, Club Person of The Year' for her work on the committee, game days, gear ordering and multiple other essential tasks. Kas is incredibly hard working and has implemented a number of processes to make the workings of the club work smoother and be more effective not only for this year but well into the future.... This year also saw two 'Honorary Memberships' awarded. Club President, Rod Henderson and Football Manager, Darren Rockley, are the latest additions to an esteemed list of people to have this honour. Their hard work and contributions, over many years, has seen the club adopt multiple new practices to ensure the Bears can operate in an ever more demanding NPL environment. Mark Lathan awarded Darren with his award and spoke of the impact upon the senior club environment Darren has had - on both the coaching and playing side. Rod was presented by Darren Lewsam who highlighted the practices and processes Rod has brought to the club while recognising the many hours spent at the ground on game days over the years. Congratulations to Rod, Darren and Kas on your awards and thank you for your dedication and service. With SAP and Youth awards now completed the club will be announcing the senior award recipients this week. The club also sincerely thanks the many people who roll their sleeves up, week in week out, to make it all work - in particular in such a trying year. Bravo all!
