These military grade aviation goggles are the most advanced on the market, providing the highest image clarity and best low-light response available. Search and rescue missions in Tasmania involve some of Australia’s most rugged and unforgiving terrain, so our equipment needs to be up to the task. We would like to thank our sponsor Westpac as well as generous donations from our Tasmanian community for making this possible 24 hours, 365 days, we will be there. 19.01.2022 Rescue of woman from Mt Murchison A 19-year-old Rosebery woman is receiving medical treatment after being rescued from a walking track near the summit of Mt Mur...chison in the state's West. Additional resources were deployed at first light this morning to walk in and assist with the rescue, whilst further attempts made by the Westpac Rescue Helicopter to reach the woman were unfortunately hampered by the continued deteriorating weather conditions. After a gruelling six-hour stretcher carry from the summit, rescuers finally reached the start of the track on Anthony Road at 6.30pm. Western Search and Rescue Inspector Steve Jones expressed his thanks and gratitude to the SES members, Ambulance Tasmania, Tasmania Parks and Wildlife Service and the search and rescue teams who assisted with the rescue. The woman who suffered a medical condition on the summit had sufficient food and water and was equipped with warm clothing and a tent.

13.01.2022 Tasmania’s search and rescue capability is expanding with additional police officers and flight paramedics trained for duties on-board the Westpac Rescue Helico...pter. Seven new crew members are in the final stage of their training to become part of the search and rescue team of police officers, paramedics and doctors that utilise Westpac Rescue Helicopter Tasmania, said Senior Constable Chris Williams from Police Marine and Rescue Services. Two police Constables (both men) will complete training on 11 December, adding to the five additional intensive care flight paramedics (four men and one woman) who completed training recently. Next week all seven additional air crew members will have completed their rigorous training program, which included a ground and flying course, wilderness survival, and wire awareness, said Senior Constable Williams. Being part of the rescue helicopter crew is a challenging but rewarding and exciting role. The new members will increase the rescue crew to a total 13 Police, 12 Doctors and 15 Intensive Care Flight Paramedics on a roster system. Each of the additional member is highly-qualified and satisfied a long list of essential criteria to become rescue crew members. As summer commences, it is timely to remind anyone planning on exploring in Tasmania’s wilderness to be prepared. Before heading out into the wilderness, remember to register your personal locator beacon and carry it with you at all times, check the weather forecast, carry appropriate safety equipment and supplies and always advise someone of your travel plans and intended route. . #Westpac Rescue Helicopter Tasmania #Rotorlift Aviation #Ambulance Tasmania
