25.01.2022 We've celebrated NAIDOC Week at WesTrac with several events and initiatives. In WA, Shaun Nannup (pictured) visited us to run a workshop. Shaun is a Whadjuk Nyoongar man, father, elder and self-described human being who talked to us about his life, indigenous culture, current issues and steps everyone can take to ensure we are all one united community. Team members were encouraged to discuss Shaun's talk with their family. We also had the Australian, Aboriginal and Torres Str...ait Islander Flags flying at all of our branches across the state. In NSW, we focused on prominent indigenous Australians by sharing their profiles across the business for information and awareness into the history and culture. In the coming weeks we'll also be proud to display artwork from local indigenous artist Lauren Freestone at our Tomago head office. WesTrac is proud to support NAIDOC Week and celebrate the traditional custodians of the land we are so fortunate to call home. 12.01.2022 We would like to congratulate Nikalus Sharpe. Nik, an Aboriginal Australian from the Awabakal nation, is a WesTrac Reliability Engineer who is currently completing a Master’s of Maintenance and Reliability Engineering at Federation University (Ballarat, VIC), supported by WesTrac under the NSW Further Education Assistance Policy. He was recently recognised by Federation University Australia at their 2020 Aboriginal Education Centre High Achiever Scholarship Awards night. He was awarded the Deadly High Achiever Scholarship for achieving a perfect GPA score across all the courses he has completed - a mighty feat made possible thanks to a lot of hard work.

12.01.2022 Another successful marine engine overhaul from the team at WesTrac Port Hedland This marks the half-way point of a series of overhauls we're doing for this customer; a fleet of six vessels (12 engines). Simon, an engineer from Iron Corella (one of the vessels), commented on the work completed so far: "WesTrac technicians were at all times professional, pleasant to work with and efficient during their time on board. Their valued assistance lead to our 12,000 hour maintenance... campaign being completed ahead of schedule, without incident or injury and to a professional standard." 06.01.2022 Earlier this year, WesTrac Port Hedland completed the first two Caterpillar C175-16 Marine Propulsion Engine top-end overhauls in Western Australia. The work was completed for RivTow Marine - BHP's towage contractor and manager of the largest fleet of tugs in any port in Australia. Our team battled logistical challenges as a result of fierce weather conditions (Tropical Cyclone Damien ) and still managed to delivery 5-star quality work and exceed expectations, with the job completed ahead of schedule.
