24.01.2022 Our very own Andrew Irving has recorded a quartet of talks addressing the Coronavirus pandemic, encouraging us to see it from a Biblical perspective, and helping us to think about the place of humility, repentance, and hope. I warmly recommend these talks to you. You may wish to share them with friends who might also find them helpful. I am posting the first one here now, and will post one every other day. A version with Chinese subtitles is also in the pipeline.

19.01.2022 Dear Friends In light of the worsening crisis with the coronavirus, Hugh McFarlane, from our 6pm congregation, has written to me suggesting a practical way in which we can respond to each other’s needs. In a nutshell, those who are LESS at risk from Covid-19 will volunteer to shop and do essential errands for those who are MORE vulnerable, or who have been told by the authorities to self-isolate. This response requires two kinds of volunteer: 1) Runners: those who will be not...ified of a need, go to the supermarket/ post office/ pharmacy, and deliver supplies to the front door of the person in need. They will need to NOT be in a vulnerable category themselves, have a driver’s license and car, and be able to pay for supplies, to reimbursed upon delivery or electronically. 2) Despatchers: those who will be a point of contact for those in need, despatch an available volunteer, and ensure that appropriate guidelines are followed. Some details are still being worked out, but if you are willing and able to volunteer in one of these capacities, please contact me via email, [email protected] In Christ Simon

17.01.2022 ...and our new look Community Groups, meeting 'together' to study the Bible! The virus won't stop us meeting together, even if some are in quarantine.

17.01.2022 I've had a lot of great feedback about Andrew's first two talks in this series; people have clearly found them very helpful. Here is the third instalment, calling on us to reflect on repentance.

13.01.2022 It may look like a poor turnout at church last Sunday night, but this is just the 'studio', with dozens of others meeting us from home via Zoom!

12.01.2022 Friends, further to my email advice yesterday, please read the notice below regarding suspension of all Anglican services in the Diocese of Sydney. We are currently finding the best way forward for livestreaming services (with a minimum of people present). Our Community Groups will also be meeting online (please contact your CG leaders if they have not yet contacted you.) This is a crisis not seen in this country in the last hundred years! Please be devoted to prayer for one ...another and please also look for practical ways to help one another: telephoning, shopping, writing words of encouragement, etc. Praying for the Lord's peace and protection for you all. Simon

09.01.2022 Many of our members have already tuned into our services or Community Groups via Zoom. Tonight, our Catalyst youth group met online for the first time, with over thirty young people plus eight leaders tuned in for games, a talk, and discussion groups! Here's the plan for tuning in this Sunday and every Sunday. Click on the link below for the service you want to attend. It should pretty much take you straight there. Unless we advise otherwise, the link will stay the same each ...week.There is no password. If it is the first time you have been on Zoom, it will need to install something on your computer. If you get stuck, text me on 0427 197 206. 8am https://zoom.us/j/531082852 10am https://zoom.us/j/482322325 6pm https://zoom.us/j/163099863 See you on Sunday! Simon

07.01.2022 Here is part two of Andrew Irving's Coronavirus talks, discussing how such a crisis teaches us about humility.

04.01.2022 Hi Everyone! welcome to our first day of services in the age of the Coronavirus. This Sunday we're going to trial using a tool called Zoom to share our services. It's already been used by a number of community groups and prayer groups to continue meeting even though we can't be physically present. We're going to try combining live and pre-recorded parts of the service. Please be patient as we all learn, adapt and figure out how to make it work.... Here are the instructions for using Zoom for Sunday's services. (And community groups) 1. Install the Zoom application. (Video Conferencing, Web Conferencing, Webinars, Screen Sharing) (These instructions are for a Windows PC. For Phones and tablets just search for the Zoom app on your App store) Video Conferencing, Web Conferencing, Webinars, Screen Sharing Zoom is the leader in modern enterprise video communications, with an easy, reliable cloud platform for video an... Here is a link to include for installing zoom on the various types of internet browser (Edge, Chrome and Firefox): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UAa3MADuvsg 2. Once the application is installed, you should be able to click on the service link: 8AM https://zoom.us/j/861272815 10 AM https://zoom.us/j/198360237 6 PM https://zoom.us/j/199842469 The password for all services is John3:16 Once you're zoom session starts up you should see the speaker, and also the slides. In the Zoom window, the most important buttons are the two in the lower left - Mute and Start Video. Please make sure you are muted (unless you are doing the prayers or bible reading). You'll know you are muted when it has a red line through the microphone. The other useful button is the chat button which allows folks to share short text messages (like SMS or WhatsApp or Slack) Lastly, clicking the Participants button opens the side window which shows everyone on the call. It also allows you to "Raise you hand" so the meeting host can get people to ask questions in an orderly way. We would ask people to refrain from doing this through the service, but there will be a Q&A session at the end for us to ask questions and give feedback. In everything we're doing at the moment, we're in uncharted waters as we seek to live in the light of God's unchanging Gospel in an ever-changing world. Simon
