19.01.2022 WBC (Westside Boxing Club) is more of a club than a business, with a strong focus on community. Everyone is welcome regardless of ability and fitness. If you want to train hard and have fun doing it, this is a session for you! WBC was formed during the recent Australianbushfires, where an incidental post was made on a local community page by founder Shane asking if people wanted to kickstart their new years fitness goals and raise money for the bushfire relief. Lots of fantas...tic community members came on board and we were able to raise a whole bunch of money for the Salvos and Red Cross. After that event, we wanted to keep going and so WBC was formed! There are three major ideals of WBC: Cost: Sessions should be cheap so that you can enjoy other things in life. There are so many other good fitness options in the area, whether that be a social sport, climbing, combat, HIIT (go fitstop!) or just lifting weights at the gym. I wanted people to be able to enjoy their normal workout and be able to spice things up doing something different without huge financial pressure. But most importantly, just because the sessions are cheap means the quality should be any less than top tier. If you're not getting the best workout possible, whack Shane in the head with one of his gloves. Fun: I'm a firm believer that the more you enjoy your training, the more you will be disciplined to get out of bed on those cold mornings and make it to training when you have zero motivation. Sharing a laugh during the session helps to keep relaxed and keep working through the activities in an enjoyable way. Welcoming: Everyone is welcome regardless of ability. When I worked in a boxing gym, I found I was most inspired by the people who were new and returning to fitness after some time off, because they were willing to put themselves out there and try something new and give it their best shot. Even if their punches weren't the strongest they were still giving it all and to me that is inspiring. On the other end of the scale, it's also inspiring to see those who have been training consistently give it a good crack and show their skills. We run boot camps down at the Akuna street fitness park every Saturday morning at 8:30am (other times may become available.) The sessions are only $5. There is also the possibility for weekend personal training, however costs/availability may vary.

16.01.2022 Good Morning Team! As we enter a 10-day cooling-off period, I want to talk for a second about resilience and its importance within the sport of boxing. When you're in the ring and you get hit in the body in just the right (wrong) spot, it's not the pain that's scary .. you lose the ability to breathe for five to ten seconds. ...Continue reading

16.01.2022 Looking forward to bootcamp at 8:30am this morning! As we wait and see the affects of this potential covid spread, we will be very vigilant in training. 13.01.2022 Evening all! Unfortunately, I still haven't 100% recovered from my throat infection, so we will be delaying the re-launch until next weekend. I'm sorry as I was excited to see some of you this weekend - rest assured we will be back and fighting hard sooner rather than later!

12.01.2022 Happy new year to all! Start 2021 off with a punch or two and sign up for the 730am bootcamp tomorrow!! Otherwise book in a spot for the fundraising appeal, 30 min PT’s with only a cash donation required!... All info can be found on the booking page!!

10.01.2022 WE ARE ON TODAY AT 5:45pm Book in and come punch out some lockdown frustration!! Q: how will it work with our masks???... A: in times we can’t social distance (padwork) we will wear it unless you’re from the same family/household. We will do short 1 minute rounds of padwork, with plenty of rest and technique focus and if you need to step away to take a rest that’s ok. When we can socially distance (the rest of the session, you can place the mask to the side. Boxing is all about being resilent, overcoming obstacles and improving yourself. This new ‘challenge’ is a great way to prove to YOURSELF how GREAT you are.

09.01.2022 Make sure to book in for Bootcamp this weekend!! 7:30 am and 8:30 am

Tuesday 5:45pm (potential rain) - lots of padwork and leg-focused bodyweight exercises, will probably be a smaller class so some chance of one-on-one work with me mid session. As BOM predicts 70% rain probability there is a chance this may ...not go ahead! Thursday 5:45pm (Sunny) - lots of padwork and core-focused bodyweight exercises, will probably be a smaller class so some chance of one-on-one work with me mid session! Saturday 7:30am/8:30am (overcast/sunny) - all out assault, just like normal, get your heart racing as we work towards Christmas! https://www.westsideboxing.club/bookings

06.01.2022 Hey Team! On December 20th some friends and I will be taking on this Men's mental health workout. I am a big fan of anything that normalizes the importance of mental health, working for a company involved with customer service for the past 10 years, I see the value in normalizing conversations about mental health, we have come so far but have so far to go. ... Allowing people to be open and honest about their mental health is beneficial for us all. It will help people to help themselves and be more open about their struggles, while giving others a good understanding of how they can be of assistance too. Only then can we truly look for solutions to the root issues people face around mental health. Too often are we forced to put bandaid solutions on these issues because we don’t completely understand them. This workout is to raise money for Men's mental health and also a great challenge. If you would like to donate, please visit the link below! I can't wait to rip in. https://www.teamblackdog.org.au/fundr/mentalhealthworkout2

05.01.2022 WET WEATHER UPDATE* Hey everyone - I was just down checking the park and it looks like the sails don’t really protect too much of the rain, so if you wake up tomorrow morning and have signed up for the 8 am session and it’s raining do yourself a favour and go back to sleep. It will be too dangerous in the wet to do a Bootcamp, having said that even with the rain hopefully we can still do the 5 pm session. Please pray to mother nature for sunshine tomorrow and also there are a couple of spots left if you would like to join the session.

03.01.2022 !!Update!! 8am and 5pm sessions for bootcamp this weekend. If you can come be a part I would greatly appreciate filling up all 10 slots in both sessions so I can test how it goes in the park! The 8am session is close to full with a couple of slots left, and 5pm still has plenty of sports!... I promise it will be a RIPPER of a session!! For anyone who wants to do a normal PT, there are times available most of the day Saturday!

03.01.2022 5 and a bit hours in, this was my sixth set of 20 burpees. I know a few of you dream of seeing me suffer like this so I hope you enjoy!!

02.01.2022 Great work everyone this morning! We had our biggest bootcamp session yet. It's a beautiful day outside and I feel so thankful to be able to go outside and get some exercise. It feels good to look at the positive because oftentimes on social media the focus seems to be on the negative. I am very thankful to be able to do something I love and bring fitness to others. For those who asked for the bank details, going ahead you can pay directly into the account:... BSB: 014010 Acct No: 474364797 Name: Westside Boxing Club If you haven't already, please ensure you fill out this form just in case of emergency :) https://forms.office.com/Pages/ResponsePage.aspx

02.01.2022 Westside Boxing Club is proud to confirm all money raised from PT and Bootcamp last weekend was able to be donated today to the Gordo recovery fund. Thank you all for your support for this great community. In a world where you can be anything, be kind.

02.01.2022 Hey Team! We will be entering a 3-day lockdown starting 6pm this afternoon, meaning that there is no opportunity for boxing this weekend. Considering the severity of the situation, let's stay strong and get through this!... I will be adding additional bootcamps next week on Tuesday and Thursday, for those who were doing the fundraising boxing, I will be adding mid-week sessions also. I will make myself available for phone consultations all weekend, you can call me and I will say things like "wheres my phone" and "just wait i need to set the timer." Considering it's supposed to rain all weekend, probably not the worst situation in the world. Be safe! Shane

02.01.2022 Hey Community! Just a reminder that I am running fundraising boxing PT down at the fitness park in Akuna Street all through January! Last year we raised $1250 over January and the goal is to beat that, first weekend down and we are already tracking well!... If you are looking at trying something new fitness-wise in the new year or looking to get back into fitness after a break, feel free to book in for a session! There are no obligations or requirements, everyone is welcome and all I ask is a cash donation that will be going to the Salvation army disaster appeal. You can book in via the website, just choose 'salvation army boxing appeal.' https://www.westsideboxing.club/bookings Pic from last year with one of the hardest hitters in 4069!!

01.01.2022 IMPORTANT TIME UPDATE This weekend and next weekend I am doing fitness testing which will require me to be at the gym - so the starttime is DELAYED UNTIL 8am for Saturday morning bootcamp. I apologise for the inconvenience but it’ll give you that extra sleep-in to be ready for the session (if the kids allow!!)... Any concerns please take them up with Andrew who handles the complaints department

01.01.2022 Good Morning all! We are back! You beauty! Please private message me if you are keen to train this weekend :)... There are 45-minute slots between 12-6pm on both Saturday and Sunday.
