09.01.2022 We are pleased to announce the details for try-outs for the 2021 VJBL season. Try-out Details Given the time we have all been away from basketball and COVID-19... restrictions, the try-outs will be slightly different this year. VJBL have indicated that we will commence grading in January 2021. As such, there is a need to have our team selection finalised prior to Christmas. While many players have resumed training, we understand that not everyone has had the opportunity to do so. Accordingly, each player registered for try-outs will undertake two compulsory training sessions prior to the try-outs process commencing. The times for these try-outs are attached. Please make sure you sign up for the correct age group. Under 21 try-outs will commence in January 2021 as their competition will commence in Grading Phase 2. Registrations We thank everyone who has completed an expression of interest for try-outs. There is no requirement for you to register again. If you are yet to register for tryouts, please do so at https://forms.gle/dnggBc6DtJutM6CNA by Wednesday, 25th November 2020 at 6:00pm. A player will not be able to try-out if they do not pre-register. This will allow us to ensure we comply with COVID protocols. Permission to train If you played basketball at another Representative Club in 2019/2020, you are required to obtain a permission of train prior to attending your first try-out. Please email this to [email protected] For more information, please head to www.altonabasketball.com.au #altonagators #altonabasketball #returntothegame #jointhegatorfam #tryout
09.01.2022 Exciting News ASC will be reopening on Monday 9th November Conditioning training and Health & well being seminar will welcome us back to the sports we love... Stay tuned for further details in the coming days!
09.01.2022 *BASKETBALL UPDATE* Attention all Junior and Senior Domestic Clubs and Teams As you are aware last Friday 13th March we took advice from Basketball Victoria to ...cancel games scheduled for the coming weekend and possibly longer. Yesterday we received an update from BV recommending that no games to be played or training undertaken until April 13th at the earliest. As a result of this advice the Altona Bay Basketball Association has taken the decision to abandon the current Junior & Senior Summer Domestic Seasons and aim to resume for the Winter Season from April 17th for Juniors and April 20th for Seniors. This means the teams that finished 1st & 2nd on the ladder will be declared the Premiers and Runners Up respectively and can if they wish collect the trophies associated with that by sending an email to Joan O’Shea at [email protected] to arrange a time to collect them. This extended break will allow all players more time to get registered under the new individual player registration and for clubs to get teams confirmed and numbers in by the required date later this month. A reminder that individual registrations do not activate until the first round of the new season is played. We are taking the opportunity to run 2 free 1 hour coaches courses on Wednesday 15th April from 6-7pm and 7.30-8.30pm run by Lanard Copeland. Further details about this will be forthcoming. We encourage everyone to use the time off wisely while ensuring they keep well and follow all the relevant advice available. We will continue to monitor advice from BV and other pertinent groups and should the situation change an update will be provided in due course. Yours Sincerely Warren Roache President Altona Bay Basketball Association Inc
