25.01.2022 Our Recycling Hub in the Riverside Office is still collecting fluorescent light globes and tubes, compact fluoros (CFLs), HIDs and metal halides, which are taken to City of Launceston’s Waste Centre for recycling. Fluro Globes and Tubes can’t be recycled in your kerbside recycling and should be handled very carefully as they are filled with Mercury. Recycling fluorescent household globes can also recover other valuable materials like ceramic, glass, aluminium and phosphor tha...t are used in products like fertilizer, aluminium cans and insulation batts. Incandescent globes and halogens can simply be wrapped in paper and disposed of in the garbage bin. You can drop your Fluorescent Light Globes and Tubes into the Riverside and Beaconsfield Offices during business hours 8:30 am 4:45 pm, Monday to Friday.

19.01.2022 Collectively, the Northern Tasmania Waste Management Group and Northern Tasmania Development Corporation, have made $300,000 available to support and encourage the development of circular economy initiatives in Northern Tasmania. The project will widen the highway and shoulders between Rosevears Drive and Gravelly Beach Road, add dedicated right turn lanes, and construct a footpath between Rosevears Drive and Gravelly Beach Road. 18.01.2022 The Government has released for consultation the draft Dog Control Regulations 2020 (the draft Regulations) which remake the Dog Control Regulations 2010 (the Regulations) ahead of their scheduled expiry on 9 June 2021. The Regulations include the prescribed details for microchips, the requirements for dangerous dog enclosures, and the offences under the Dog Control Act 2000 for which infringement notices may be issued (and the associated penalties). 11.01.2022 Following feedback from local residents, two weekday trial services have been introduced. The route 151 North Riverside (Cormiston Road) connects Trevallyn residents with the Riverside shops and also provides services around Cormiston Road. The service operates three times a day on weekdays. The route 152 Trevallyn (Reatta Rd) provides coverage to the hilly parts of Trevallyn, including Reatta Road, New World Avenue, Dandenong Road and Delungra Road. The service operates on w...eekdays with a mid-morning service from Trevallyn to Launceston City and a return service in the afternoon. The trial services will now operate until January 2022. 06.01.2022 An extra collection of Waste and Recycling will occur over the holiday period between 28th December 2020 and 8th January 2021. As per the calendar attached, both waste and recycling bins will be collected three consecutive weeks on your regular collection day, INCLUDING Christmas Day and New Years Day. FOGO collections will continue as normal.... *Please ensure that the lids are closed on your bins and no additional waste is placed on top or beside the bins.

05.01.2022 From Monday 28th June 2021, our contractor BridgePro will be installing a guardrail on the bridge over Stony Brook Creek on Winkleigh Road, Exeter. One lane of traffic will remain open at all times, though some delays may occur. We apologise for any inconvenience caused. Strengthening works will be undertaken on this bridge from October 2021.

02.01.2022 Our contractor, The Baker Group, will be reconstructing a section of Pitt Avenue and installing a raised pavement at the Pitt Avenue, Veulalee Avenue and Reatta Road intersection in Trevallyn. These works will begin on Monday 28th June 2021 and continue for approximately 14 weeks. Some delays will occur but one lane of traffic will remain open at all times. 02.01.2022 A reminder that a Notice of Proposed By-laws has now been given and Council has opened a public comment period and is inviting submissions from the community and key stakeholders. One of the three proposed By-laws is the 'Roads (Local Highways) By-law'. Council’s road network provides for the necessary transport flow for vehicles and pedestrians and Council requires the ability to appropriately manage its road infrastructure and assets to ensure that it continues to be able t...o be used for the public benefit. The objective of the proposed By-law is to provide Council with the authority to regulate, protect and control conduct on, and use of, the roads in the West Tamar municipal area. The proposed By-law would provide Council with an ability to: - Protect Council roads from damage and misuse; - Monitor and control any works proposed to be undertaken on a Council road; and - Provide for restrictions on parking on Council roads for the purposes of advertising for private/commercial gain and for the reduction of obstructions to users of the road.
