17.01.2022 Exciting News! We're re-opening from tomorrow. Social distancing applies

17.01.2022 There is a lot of concern in the community regarding the urgency of flu immunisations. At this time there is minimal influenza activity in Tasmania. Social distancing means that the flu should not be spreading as readily as in other years. We understand that everyone would like to receive their flu immunisation as soon as possible. We have set up specific flu clinics to provide this service and maintain social distancing. Please remember that we are supplied with limited numb...ers of vaccines, there are delays in receiving them from Victoria and we have a finite number of staff. It is not helpful if our hardworking staff who put themselves at risk everyday are abused for situations out of their control. Please remember that no one deserves a serve. Any negative comments will be removed from our Facebook page. We will continue to provide all of our valued patients with quality medical care. We thank our patients who have been understanding and supportive during this difficult time.

06.01.2022 The Tasmanian Burns Unit has seen a significant increase in burns relating to hot water bottles and strongly recommend that Tasmanians use other ways to keep wa...rm this winter. These burns can often be deep, painful and require surgery as well as long term management for scaring. If you choose to use a hot water bottle, please follow these safety tips: Never use boiling water to fill a hot water bottle Never fill the hot water bottle near children Do not use with a bed fitted with an electric blanket Do not lean, roll or press against a hot water bottle Do not use for infants, children, older adults or if you have any sensory or nerve conditions Always: Replace hot water bottles every 12 months Check for damage before use Choose a hot water bottle with a large opening Pour water slowly and do not overfill Ensure the plug is fitted and sealed correctly Use a cover or a towel around the bottle Remove the hot water bottle before getting into bed Store in a cool dry location If you do get a burn run it for 20 minutes under cool running water, stay warm and seek medical attention.
