25.01.2022 Such sad, sad news ... absolutely heartbreaking ...

24.01.2022 "Vendors recommend gill plates (trade name pengyusai) for ailments ranging from acne to cancer and as a general health tonic." Seriously?! It's about time Governments held up verifiable scientific fact as the benchmark/precursor for the sale of anything ... "capitalism" - as a modality of interpreting action required - appears to be the "dumbest" of systems, whether its related to the post-slaughter use of animals such as these, the denial of climate science, the lies backing nicotine and sugar sales, big pharma, palm oil ... you name it ... Capitalism isn't the benchmark we should be using in decision making ...

23.01.2022 JURABI COASTAL CAR PARK CLOSURES The Shire and Parks and Wildlife Service, Pilbara WA would like to advise that Five Mile, Bauden and Brooke access along Jurabi... Coastal Park will be temporarily closed until 30/11/2020 (extended period). Five Mile and Bauden car parks will be relocated behind the dune system; Brooke car park will be closed permanently and rehabilitated. The relocation and closure of these car parks is to protect critical turtle nesting habitat and fragile dune systems, key values of the Ningaloo Coast World Heritage Area.

23.01.2022 I’ve no idea why anyone would use the word culprit to describe the behaviour of these pilot whales ... as though they’re guilty of something ... until we definitively find out the causes of, or reasons for, these mass stranding events attaching a noun of blame or fault is counter-productive ... language matters ... Mass whale strandings in Tasmania are not uncommon and pilot whales are the 'main culprits', scientists say.

07.01.2022 Great to hear the Great White(s) were tagged in Peppy Beach after the carcass of a juvenile humpback washed up recently ... "The only way we can do things long term is to learn more about them anyway and that means tags and finding out where they are going and why.

06.01.2022 270! Not 70 ... 270 ... what a huge - and sad task - for the rescuers ... one third have died already ... for once this year, I’m thinking border restrictions and lockdowns are not a good thing - these whales need all the help they can get ...

05.01.2022 And this would be the testimony of anyone involved in a rescue effort involving these highly intelligent and social creatures ... they know and they understand so much more than we realise or give them credit for ... the loss of life takes an enormous toll but the connection we find with them is so incredibly healing ...
