21.01.2022 Today is World Mental Health Day! Did you know, one in five Australians are affected by mental health issues annually? Yet many people do not seek help because traditionally it’s one of those things we just don’t talk about. This year’s campaign has been developed with the purpose of challenging negative perceptions around mental illness. The aim is to encourage everyone to look at mental health in a more positive light, in an effort to reduce stigma and make way for more... people to seek the help and support they deserve. 20.01.2022 Happy National Nutrition Week 2020! Did you know that each different colour fruit & vegetable offers different nutritional benefits? This is why it’s recommended you eat a variety of different types each day! Red fruit and veg contains lycopene, which acts as an antioxidant. ... Examples include: tomatoes, red capsicum, chilli, strawberries, cranberries, rhubarb, cherries, red grapes, and raspberries. Orange/yellow fruit and veg are abundant in carotenoids. Carotenoids are powerful antioxidants. Examples include: carrots, pumpkin, corn, sweet potato, squash, rockmelon, paw paw, pineapple, oranges, lemons, mandarins and mangoes. Leafy greens are an excellent source of folate, and important B-group vitamins. Examples include: cauliflower, cabbage, mushrooms, potatoes, beans, onions, brown pears, bananas, white peaches and nectarines. 18.01.2022 Did you know that Australia has the highest rate of skin cancer in the world? According to Skin Cancer Australia, each year 2000 Australians die from skin cancer, an almost entirely preventable disease. Everyone is at risk of the effects of sun exposure. You are at greater risk if you have fair skin, moles, family history of skin cancer or work in the sun all day.... For best protection, Cancer Australia recommends a combination of sun protection measures: Slip on some sun-protective clothing that covers as much skin as possible. Slop on broad spectrum, water resistant SPF 30 (or higher) sunscreen. Put it on 20 minutes before you go outdoors and every two hours afterwards. Sunscreen should never be used to extend the time you spend in the sun. Slap on a hat broad brim or legionnaire style to protect your face, head, neck and ears. Seek shade. Slide on some sunglasses make sure they meet Australian Standards. For more information, please visit: https://www.cancer.org.au/cance/types-of-cancer/skin-cancer

15.01.2022 Health screening is a vital part of disease prevention, health promotion and wellbeing. Health screening refers to a set of testing that involves checking for any diseases.
