23.01.2022 Good morning, At West Winds Community Centre we are excited to be hosting our inaugural NAIDOC Week Ceremony on Friday 13th November 2020. We are inviting members of the community to join a Working Group to help organise the event, which will include a traditional smoking ceremony as well as traditional cuisine and other activities. We would love to have your input to help us make this the best event possible.... The Working Group will meet on Monday 21st September at 10am (at West Winds). Hannah Direen, local Aboriginal student on work placement at West Winds, will be leading the project. Please RSVP to [email protected] or 6267 4713 for the Working Group by Thursday 17th September. 22.01.2022 Wow, what a fabulous NAIDOC Week Ceremony we had today at West Winds. A huge thanks to the organising team, to SETAC for the Ceremony and to Snug School for the catering.

21.01.2022 Today the Boomerang Bag group met for the last time and raised a glass to celebrate the 3 years of making gorgeous funky bags. The bags have been created from fabrics donated by the local community and sold to raise funds for local projects. We will sell the remaining bags through West Winds and Meredith's Fruit & Veg in Margate so grab one soon so you dont miss out. Thank you to everyone who has contributed to the project. Group members will continue to make rescue pouches for Bonorong Wildlife Rescue and are looking at some other project ideas for the future.

The celebration will continue with an invitation for a limited number of people to join us for some traditional Tucker and creative activities based on traditional practices, some short indigenous films and readings of Tasmanian Aboriginal stories.
