04.01.2022 Put Your Dog On A Lead There is no doubt at all going to be people commenting on this with their self entitlement, but it needs saying because so many dogs are ...being harmed because people don’t follow this rule. If your dog doesn't have great recall, put it on a lead. 'Don't worry he's friendly' is NOT an acceptable excuse to have your dog charging up to another dog uninvited. Now, if both dogs are off lead and want to run around this is absolutely fine. However, what I am receiving messages about day in and day out is that someone had their dog on a lead and another dog came out of nowhere like a missile and smashed into it. This is completely unacceptable. You have no idea what that dog on a lead has been through. It might be in training for an important job, it might be an abuse case that is learning to trust again, it might be recently injured and fresh out the vets on rehabilitation. There is no excuse for ill mannered dogs bounding over to anything and everything without an invite. So if your dog has NOT got a recall then put them on a lead. You can even put them on a long lead so they can have a run around but not get away from you. I am sick to death of clients calling me saying how much their training has been sent back because someone couldn't be bothered to control their dog. Doesn’t matter how friendly they are, don’t let it happen. Do you let your kids run up to every stranger and get in their face? So get your head out of your phone, train your dog and let's all enjoy the outdoors with a little more respect for one another.
