25.01.2022 International Association of First Ladies for Peace Inaugural Assembly, 2020 The International Association of First Ladies for Peace (IAFLP) held a successful inaugural world assembly affirming the unique and essential role that women leaders are called to play in bringing about a world of lasting peace. The high-level assembly, Building a World of Lasting Peace: A First Ladies Initiative was part of the World Summit 2020, and the centenary celebration of the life and work... of Dr. Sun Myung Moon. The Womens Federation for World Peace (WFWPI), hosted the assembly with First Lady Debbie Remengesau, who had convened the Asia Pacific First Ladies Summit in December in Palau, and the Universal Peace Federation (UPF). In its founding Resolution, the IAFLP declared it brings together women leaders from all national, racial and religious backgrounds and all sectors of society, together with those who have lived the responsibility of First Ladies in their nations, uniting in solidarity to respond to todays challenges. The loving and sacrificial leadership of women working together to empower our youth for goodness, to build cohesive communities and, with men, establish models of ethical and balanced leadership to guide them has never been more critical.

24.01.2022 Counting down to the United Nations International Day of Peace? Heres what you can do to help.

23.01.2022 COVID-19 has unfortunately stopped our ability to raise public funds to support the WFWP Humanitarian Projects within the Island Nations of Oceania. Through the Pasifika Scholarship Fund, we currently have 3 young women attending university, who need our help to complete their studies. C-19 made it impossible to support Natalie in Fiji, and Monica and Selina in the Solomon Islands for their Semester 2 courses. We need to raise just over $6,000 AU and through our Members loy...al contributions, we already have $3,000 AU available. Can you help us raise the remaining amount? For every $1 you contribute, we can match the same. If you can, donate any amount today to: WFWP Island Project Commonwealth Bank Account: 10377911 BSB: 063503

22.01.2022 Scholarship Report | December 2019 | Honiara, Solomon Islands "I have been very privileged to be one of the 2019 recipients of the Pasifika Scholarship Fund sponsored by WFWP Victoria. The Scholarship has enabled me to continue with my studies at the Solomon Islands National University (SINU) in order to gain a Bachelor of Teaching. A two year course, I expect to graduate at the end of 2020. Without the help of this Scholarship, I would not have been able to gain this qualifi...cation. Your generosity and genuine belief in me is more than appreciated. Considering you do not know me, your help has been invaluable. As a result of gaining this qualification, I will be able to contribute to the education of the children in my community. Eventually, this will have an impact on my country as these children begin to make a contribution to our society. I realize that being an educator is an important role in helping my country to develop. Currently, the children whom I teach come from many different places in the country. Being able to educate these children is a wonderful investment because these children belong to a new generation a generation who will be able to contribute to our countrys progress and development. Your assistance and kindness will never be forgotten. I am indeed most grateful to you and I will continue to use my training to ensure that your investment in me continues to reap rewards." - Selina

13.01.2022 This is Natalie, one of three young women attending University through our Pasifika Scholarship Fund. Natalie is studying a Bachelor of Law at the University of the South Pacific in Fiji. Due to C-19, WFWP has been unable to raise public funds to support our Humanitarian Projects within the Island Nations of Oceania, including Natalie's Semester 2 course work. "A few weeks into the academic semester, USP was forced to shut down due to confirmation that a fellow Fijian citiz...en was infected with C-19. This lock down created doubt in my mind if I would ever continue studies and achieve my dreams of becoming the first female lawyer in my home island of Santa Ana, in the Solomon Islands. My hope to be a family lawyer drifted further and further away. Three weeks had gone by. At this point I was ready to give up on my studies and my future. But something told me not to give up and to keep going. The challenges brought about by C-19 and the Semester 1 online studies, which I see as threats to my endeavour, were slowly overcome. It gave me the opportunity to understand who I am in my inner-self, and what my academic aspirations are to adjust and adapt." -- Natalie We need to raise just over $6,000 AU to help Natalie, Monica, and Selina complete their Semester 2 studies. Through our Members loyal contributions, we already have $3,000 AU available. Can you help us raise the remaining amount? For every $1 you contribute, we can match the same. 13.01.2022 In many developing nations not having sanitary supplies can mean days without school, days without income and days without leaving the house resulting in girls missing up to two months of school every year. To address this issue and give girls across the globe education, safety and dignity, Days for Girls International was founded in 2008. Days for Girls provides washable feminine hygiene kits to girls and women who would otherwise go without, enabling them to not miss valuab...le days from their education or employment. It has been proven that: Girls who have sanitary hygiene are confident in school and are more likely to graduate; For every year of education a girl receives her future income increases; When a girl has seven or more years of education, she marries four years later than without these years of education, and is able to gain better qualifications and greater employment opportunities. WFWP Victoria is so happy to be partnering with the Wandin Chapter of Days for Girls, led Chapter Leader by Lorena Hayes. Our plan is to ship boxes of kits to our WFWP Pacific Island Chapters so that our members can distribute them free of charge. A single Day for Girls kit costs about $20AU to make. One kit can keep a girl in school for up to 3 to 4 years and are sewn from quality washable fabrics. Anne Bellavance (WFWP Australia President) and Jan Smetak (WFWP Victoria Vice-president) were able to bring 200 kits with them to the Central Highlands of Papua New Guinea to be distributed by WFWP PNG.

13.01.2022 WFWP Victoria took the opportunity to showcase and promote WFWP Australias Humanitarian Projects, and our International activities at two Melbourne expositions. The Pacific Connections Exposition promotes the products of businesses and services of community groups operated by Pacific Islanders living in and around Melbourne. The exposition also provides workshops for Pasifika entrepreneurs and is managed by diaspora volunteers from the Island communities. With the help of Em...ma Kamupala (President, Nieut Community Vic.), Anne Bellavance and Emma networked with food and craft stall holders, and invited them to hold a stall at the Melbourne Pasifika Festival to be held on December 5th. They also chatted and connected with community island residents attending the expo. Some of our friends also had stalls at the expo. The Victoria Mori Wardens volunteer their services at festivals and community events by providing support, security, first aid, traffic and crowd control, and other services to the community. The registered charity is made up of Kiwi volunteers. Miss Samoa Victoria INC connects Miss Samoa contestants to their Samoan roots in order to share Samoan culture with the Australian community. At the official opening of the Melbourne Pasifika Festival, Miss Samoa will be a guest of honour and will be representing Samoan culture throughout the festival. The Holland Festival association holds a cultural festival in the outer East of Melbourne for the benefit of the community and raises funds gained from the event for charitable purposes, including Rotary community service projects. The festival is managed by volunteers and provides the opportunity for local charities to showcase their activities. Some of our Board and volunteers manned the WFWP stall to connect with the local community and showcase the WFWP Australia Local and Humanitarian Projects within Oceania.

11.01.2022 WFWP Queensland organised a shipping container filled with books to send to a school near Rabaul in Papua New Guinea. A volcanic eruption destroyed much of this area some years ago and as the locals continue with their rebuilding efforts, the need for resources is still high. Aware of the need to help the schools affected by the disaster, WFWP Queensland members contacted local schools to see if they could donate books no longer needed. A number of schools and libraries in and around Brisbane donated large collections of books, including text books. We are most grateful for the generosity of the company, East New Britain Queensland, who shipped our container without charges. We are most grateful for the generosity of this company as they offered to ship this container without charges.

09.01.2022 This is Monica, one of three young women attending University through our Pasifika Scholarship Fund. Monica is studying a Masters of Business Administration at University of the South Pacific in the Solomon Islands. "My husband passed away last year. Even though I am a working student and started the course before my husband passed, I found my academic journey too challenging in terms of financial support for the tuition fees. The course fee was so huge that I could not pay ...from my own pocket and also meet my families daily survival. I was so helpless at that time and sad not to continue my MBA. In my heart I was not giving up, but keep praying for any potential sponsor that could support my study. It was in December 2019 that I sent my scholarship request to the Women’s Federation for World Peace Australia seeking scholarship assistance from the Pasifika Scholarship Fund. I am so blessed and humbled with having the precious privileged to receive the scholarship from WFWP. You gave me so much love. I cannot express my gratitude by any words. Without the generous giving from the WFWP Members, my academic journey would not be possible, I could not continue. Thank you, thank you." -- Monica We need to raise just over $6,000 AU to continue helping Monica, Natalie, and Selina continue their studies. Through our Members loyal contributions, we have $3,000 AU available. Can you help us raise the remaining amount? For every $1 you contribute, we can match the same. 09.01.2022 Its a Sizzle! Using the iconic Bunnings sausage sizzle tents, some of our Board and volunteers hold a Saturday or Sunday barbeque to raise funds for our WFWP Australia Humanitarian Projects. However, due to COVID-19, we have had to stop these for the time being. Bunnings invites local community organisations to hold these fundraisers for their customers and supplies the barbeque equipment while the community organisations bring the supplies and good cheer.... Its a fun day to connect with members of the local community, Bunnings managers and staff, and of course each other. Throughout the year, WFWP Victoria holds sausage sizzles on a regular basis. A big thankyou to our dedicated volunteers and Board members! These pictures show some of our sizzles!

With their assistance, I was able to graduate from the Solomon Islands National University with a Bachelors Degree in Nursing specialising in Paediatrics. In December 2019 when I graduated, I was aware that without the help of the Scholarship Fund sponsored by WFWP Victoria, I would not have been able to complete this ...course. 04.01.2022 Projects of WFWP Solomon Islands. March 2020 | Honiara. Supporting the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, WFWP Solomon Islands is committed to achieving freedom from poverty, as well as implementing development cooperation activities according to local needs. The Solomon Islands Chapter, with support from our Regional Head office in Australia, developed small projects with local women who have taken initiative to run start up business.... This report acknowledges the WFWP Australia team who work closely with us, shipping a variety of useful resources, and each year offering local women the Pasifika Scholarship to gain tertiary education. We are really empowered indeed! We are really proud of our local women for their contribution to our communities.

03.01.2022 Annual Global Peace Network Assembly, New Zealand Theme: The Role of Women in the Challenges of Our Time During the GWPN assembly, the following speakers presented their thoughts. Felicity Cairns, the President of WFWP New Zealand, provided a comprehensive description of the different roles women played in society. ... Besides being the primary caretakers of children and the elderly in every country of the world, she explained that women are also most likely to be the prime initiators of external assistance and therefore play an important role in facilitating changes and challenges in family life. International studies on this issue indicate that when the economy and political organisations of a society change, it is women who take the lead in helping the family adjust to new realities and challenges. Geraldine Henderson is the youngest member of the National Council of Women in New Zealand and described some of the actions they take including the writing of submissions to Parliament to ensure the voice of women is given consideration in the decision making process. Although change continues to occur, Geraldine believes it is very slow and discrimination is still a challenge although it is much more subtle than it used to be in the past. Zabila Khan, President of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Womens Association NZ shared that social challenges occur as a result of the denial of human rights. While terrorism threatens the right to education, life, liberty and security, the depletion of natural resources threatens the future of our children. She explained that women play a vital role, as they can use love and affection to break down the barriers caused by these challenges. Tara Singh, a philanthropist and executive member of the Auckland branch of UN Women New Zealand, believes that women are the key to unlocking and solving the challenges of our time. If women are involved in security and peace agreements, success is more than likely to occur. She explained that peace starts with all of us. Through compassion for ourselves and others, peace can be wrought at a wider level. The afternoon ended with entertainment and a delicious afternoon tea.
