13.01.2022 Urinary tract infections (UTI) are very common and can be easily treated with antibiotics. However, if a UTI is left untreated it can develop into a kidney infection. While UTIs are more common in women, with around 1 in 2 experiencing a UTI in their lifetime, men can also be affected with 1 in 20 having a UTI in their lifetime. UTIs are also common in the elderly. 5 ways you can prevent UTIs:... 1 Drink lots of water to flush the urinary system 2 Urinate as soon as you feel the need rather than holding on 3 Urinate shortly after intercourse 4 For women and girls, wipe your bottom from front to back 5 Wear cotton underwear and loose-fitting clothes so that air can keep the area dry Visit your GP if you are experiencing any of the below symptoms: Burning sensation or lower abdominal discomfort when urinating Urinating much more frequently than usual Needing to urinate but being unable to or only passing a few drops Feeling like your bladder is still full after urination Foul smelling urine Urine that is cloudy, bloody or dark Fever For more information, visit https://bit.ly/3cM944P.
