23.01.2022 3/4D Update: This week in 3/4D, students have been exploring volume and capacity. They have investigated the capacity of various cups to find out which one could hold the most and least. Students have estimated how many millilitres and litres a container can hold and found the actual amount by choosing appropriate tools to measure it. They have been converting between millilitres and litres and understand that some containers can hold the same even if they are differently shaped!

22.01.2022 UPDATES FROM THE CLASSROOM 6K Update: In Mathematics, 6K have been exploring the concepts of volume and capacity, including displacement. They explored and demonstrated their understanding by attempting to displace a certain amount of water using small cubes in different combinations. Using this new knowledge, 6K then went on to plan their own water park, where they needed to calculate the volume of each attraction and ensure their pool remained under capacity - so it didn't ...flood the park! Preschool Update: This week, Preschool and Early Intervention has been taken over by pirates! From various treasure hunts, mapping, dancing, singing, dramatic role play, we all had so much fun! Spots are filling fast for our Preschool. Please call Whalan Public School Office- 02 9625 9437 or pop in to collect a wait list form. 06.01.2022 Last Thursday the 10 September 2020, 3/6T and 5/6B came together to investigate the importance of ‘R U OK Day’. Did you know it is our national day of action when we remind Australians that every day is the day to ask, Are you OK? As a team, we worked to create posters to display around the school. These posters are designed to encourage our students to always spread kindness, check in on friends and even offer suggestions of things to do if you aren’t feeling ok like: taking a run, listening to music or doing some craft. We also made some stress balls using flour, rice and balloons. We made them using yellow balloons as that is the colour that represents ‘R U OK Day’. Our classes agreed that yellow represents happiness, warmth and is like sunshine on a cloudy day.
