25.01.2022 There is something so exciting about freediving wrecks... A ship sitting at the bottom of the ocean, the various cavities and swim-throughs, the soft corals, spunges and schooling fish... Even the scuba divers with their streams of bubbles rising up like tiny diamonds. . @erezbeatus for @freedivingholidays #redsea #freediving #apnea #underwateradventures #deeperbluegram #canonaustralia #followyourpassion #freedivingart #ocean

25.01.2022 I am repeatedly amazed at how playful and coordinated 3 weeks old Humpback calves Can be. This baby was repeatedly spiralling in the water, testing her buoyancy, splashing around and generally having lot of fun with her newfound friends. The cheers from the boat could be heard in the water and my mask kept filling with water from my grin. We have since met her a couple of times... She is one of my favourite babies of the season. . @erezbeatus @freedivingholidays #apneaaustralia #babyplaying #humpbackwhale #tonga #whakeswim #canonaustralia #underwaterphotography #savethehumpbacks #adventuretime #liveyourdreams

25.01.2022 #Repost @erezbeatus (@get_repost) Changing perspective. Some days we are up, while on others we feel down. As all but one thing is permanent (depending on who you ask), it is pointless getting caught up in dwelling on what the future brings. Instead, live you life to the fullest and keep chasing your dreams. Find a just cause and give it everything you have got. 23.01.2022 Something huge is happening just below the surface... All you have to do is jump right in. This interaction was definitely one to remember. There was a definite exchange of communication between the whales and us and a definite desire from the whales side to stay close to us and to the boat. It was almost impossible to return to the boat and we at the end we had to wait for the whales to swim away so that we could move the boat away. What a privilege. Join one of our trips for an unforgettable time. . . @erezbeatus #wild #freediver #freediving #whales #humpbackwhales #freedivingholidays #underwater #underwateradventures #bliss #beautiful #best_shots #tonga2018 #tonga #dreambig #paradise #nature #blue #picoftheday #instagood #bluewater #thisgirlcan #freedive #apnea #sydneyfreedivers #freedivingsydney #nature #vibenature #love #haapai

22.01.2022 With so much #blue, its difficult to feel blue. This island has been our home for the past two months and soon we will leave and migrate south with the whales. Tonga, and especially the island of Uoleva hold a very special place our hearts as so many great memories and connections were made here. We feel blessed to be given this privilege to share our passion and love for the #ocean and for the #humpbackwhales. We feel that inviting people to experience this and to have th...e chance to discuss #sustainability, the protection of the whales and to experience real Tongan hospitality leaves a lasting mark. . . @erezbeatus @freedivingholidays #apneaaustralia #tonga #aerialphotography #dronephotography #liveyourdream #makeadifferrnce @ Haapai See more

19.01.2022 Crazy times in Tonga. Hovering at a depth of 5m, I could see this young humpback turning and making its way towards me. I had to decide whether I should swim back, to the side or hold my position. I decided to hold my position and watched as the calf rolled over me, turned and swam back to interact with the other swimmers. A true snapshot moment. 14.01.2022 Joy. Two weeks since we have left Tonga and I am still amazed at how amazing this season was. Since we have first visited Tonga 8 years ago, whale behaviour has changed drastically and has shifter from extreme protectiveness to almost complete acceptance. Babies have become more daring and more playful as their mothers seemed to be content resting on the bottom. Being able to observe young babies as they develop and grow over two months highlighted the different charachter e...ach whale has. This super playful baby seemed to be a bit shy at first, coming up for two breaths, causiously approaching us before diving back to the safety of her mom. After a few minutes, she would come a bit closer and within 4 or 5 dives, she would seem to become very relaxed and would play, splash and slap all around us... Staying in the surface for long minutes and only diving down for a couple of minutes. Its interactions like this one that make me want to go back every year. We want to thank all of our amazing guests which have shown great respect and patience. . #wild #freediver #freediving #whales #humpbackwhales @freedivingholidays #underwater #underwateradventures #bliss #beautiful #best_shots #tonga2018 #tonga #dreambig #paradise #nature #ocean #dissocean #picoftheday #instagood #bluewater #thisgirlcan #freedive #apnea #protectingtheocean #ethicalwhalewatching #apneaaustralia @erezbeatus #nature #vibenature #love #animals#blackandwhite #underwaterphotography See more

14.01.2022 ail end of an amazing season. What can I say, the 2018 #whaleswim season for @freedivingholidays is now finished and what a season it was!!! Epic heat runs, chilled mothers and babies, relaxed escorts, breaches, fin and tail slaps, spy hopping and many interactions in shallow reefs. We have also had lots of freediving around steep sea mountains and swims under the arch. We even camped on an active #volcanofor four days! We discussed #sustainability and #ethicalwhalewatchin...g and conducted numerous #beachcleanups We have had guests from all continents and have made so many new friends. 14.01.2022 Wow wow and wow again! This year has been absolutely crazy with such slow, intimate interactions on one hand and high octane, crazy encounters on the other. Felt so small while they kept turning back and coming up to spy hop right in front of us. . Want to experience this firsthand? 13.01.2022 Im often asked what my favourite Freedive destination is... a very difficult question to answer. Each place I have visited was unique in its own way and offers different opportunities. Tonga may not be the most accessible place but it has whales, Hawaii may not be the most remote but has dolphins and manta rays, Sri Lanka has blue whales, Mexico has the Cenotes and the Red Sea offers the easiest access to deep water. Australia also has so much to offer from a photographers perspective... it doesnt matter where I dive, as long as I do. Do you have a favourite spot?? @erezbeatus @freedivingholidays #freediving #apnea #hawaii #tonga #whaleswim #underwaterphotography #freedivingphotography #dolphin #blue

12.01.2022 #Repost @erezbeatus (@get_repost) As an underwater photographer, I tend to look for sunny days, clear water with minimal particles as this combo tends to produce nice images. The pursue of the "perfect shot" seems to sometimes portrait a situation which may be far from the truth. In reality, water tends to have a lot of organic matter and clarity varies considerably. Todays interaction was fantastic but the water was incredibly murky due to the rainy and windy week we have had. Instead of trying to clear the image, I decided to accentuate the particles to demonstrate what the reality of the moment was. . Want to know more about what I do? 07.01.2022 September is the month of grown babies and chilled moms. We have spent a morning with this playful baby and his mom as they rested in the protected waters in front of the resort. The sea was rough, the wind was strong and the sky was grey, but it did not change the fact we have had one of the nicest interactions of the season. This season it seems, the calves are getting more and more daring, continuously testing how close they could get to us without making contact. Imagine... a 5m long baby whale behaving like a kitten.... Needless to say we had an amazing time. @molly_05 had a dream of freediving with a whale around her birthday, she definitely got her what she asked for. . @erezbeatus @freedivingholidays #apneaaustralia #humpbackwhale #freediving #swinwithwhales #tonga #ocean #serenity #apnea #underwateradventures #underwaterphotography #plasticfreeocean See more

06.01.2022 We cannot believe it is almost the end of another whale swim season! Our last group is now relaxing for a day (Sunday is a rest day in tonga) before going out to swim with whales again on Monday. This beautiful pair allowed us to share space for over an hour... simply amazing. Next year is almost full already so if you wish to join us- you must be quick Www.whale-encounters.com

06.01.2022 Some awesome photos from our guests this year keep them coming...

06.01.2022 Turbulence Most people imagine swimming with a whale as a relaxing situation where the mother just rests on the surface or on the bottom while the baby hangs within a couple of meters away. In reality, many interactions are very active and besides the fact that they may require us to swim alot, may involve a hyperactive baby which only wants to play with the little creatures that came into his space. In these interactions, the water is bubble filled and turbulent .A three w...eek old baby can weigh around 3 tons and can push a lot of water around.... This baby had a big gash on his dorsal fin, probably a result of being hit by a boat. 04.01.2022 What an Epic expedition!!! We have just returned from 4 days on an offshore volcano. We have taken 7 brave and hardened guests on a trip of a lifetime to climb and camp on Tofua - an active volcano located 75km away from our home base on Uoleva. After a day on a small boat we arrived on the volcano and after jumping off the boat onto the volcanic rocks, we jumped into the cristal clear waters for a snorkel and half an hour later, were already cooking lobster on a fire. We the...n climbed up onto the rim (500m altitude) and made camp under the sky. The first view of the crazed took our breath away! At night, we took some photos of the red glow and went to bed excited about the following days hike into the crater. The following day we spent the day exploring the crater, looking into the mouth of an active volcano and hiking down to the lake (although we have taken the wrong turn and ended up in a huge cold lava field instead... That evening we hiked back to the crater for a night photo shoot and witnessed nature at its best!! I cannot begin to describe the feeling of standing on top of a volcano, hearing it breathing under my feet and seeing the molten rocks flying up into the air. The next day we have hiked back to the outer edge and began the long trip back. We will write a long blog post which will include more photos and stories for the freediving holidays website, but for now - We cannot wait to be back there next year with another group. See more

04.01.2022 Another day at the office... After lunch on the neighbouring island we are heading back out to look for whales... island life.

03.01.2022 The boat is that way... With an explosive burst of speed, this calf which until 10 seconds ago was as relaxed as as could be, took off into the sky... Scattering everyone. Even at the age of a few weeks, calves Can breach completely out of the water! And this one continued to do so another four times before resting. . @erezbeatus @freedivingholidays #apneaaustralia #breach #lifesabreach #humpbackwhale #tonga #whaleswim #canonaustralia

02.01.2022 Synchronised swimming... with a baby Humpback and his mom. Lewis doing his best to look graceful The 2018 season is almost full already!

01.01.2022 Inner space Yesterday we visited the arch. A trip to the arch is considered one of the many highlights of the Tonga trip as it offers a chance to explore caves, swim-throughs, freedivers in very clear water and swim under the largest underwater arch / bridge in Tonga (and perhaps in the south pacific). On a normal day, the surface is calm, the arch is clearly visible from the surface and diving is easy. The past week was windy which made the experience a lot more challenging..., with turbulent water, current and so many bubbles on the surface that the arch was barely visible. Nevertheless, as soon as we left the surface and dived below the bubbles, visibility was great and all became calm. Such is the magic of the ocean. . . @erezbeatus #apneaaustralia @freedivingholidays #apnea #innerspace #adventure #underwateradventures #underwaterphotography #ocean #instadaily See more
