25.01.2022 Great image of a humpback tail slap from Tom. We had several whales thrashing their tails at one stage there were 3 whales with tails in the air. Thanks for sharing your cracker photo with us Tom.

25.01.2022 Tanya Hobart with family Andrew and Adam recently spent the day sailing with the humpbacks in front of the Gold Coast. The humpbacks did not disappoint with a fantastic display of breaching. Tanya captured these amazing images. Thanks for sharing Tanya Hobart

24.01.2022 Some images from Jane on a recent trip. These two whales gave us a great view ..... swimming along side and playing about

22.01.2022 Great weather today for some whale photography. Lets hope there is a friendly humpback or two in the Coral Sea.

22.01.2022 A taste of today. Im thinking this was the best whale watching charter I have done. We witnessed everything that a whale can do. All of it next to the boat. From breaching to pectoral slaps to new born calf breaching with mum. Sensational!!!

19.01.2022 Ever seen a Humpback catching some afternoon sun.

19.01.2022 Whale watching over the last week has been unbelievable to say the least. Thank you to all of the returning guests who come on board EAU DE VIE each year for this awesome day with the Humpbacks

19.01.2022 The humpbacks are still here on the Gold Coast. The most popular pod at the moment ...... mother and calf! Every where you look there is a pod of whales and 90% are mother and calf. This calf was special with a wonderful display of breaching. Showing off to mum who is quietly swimming back to the cold Great Southern Ocean with her baby calf jumping and splashing and swimming around with an amazing amount of energy. www.getawaysailing.com.au

16.01.2022 Humpback heaven on the coral sea this weekend. Heres a couple of underwater images of a humpback who befriended us yesterday. Also the lone guests watching the humpbacks ....... the afternoon was spectacular. www.getawaysailing.com.au

15.01.2022 Hoping for some of this action today. The ocean is perfect for whale and sails.

15.01.2022 Humpbacks every where still in early September. They will be around until the end of October so come visit a Humpback family with me.

15.01.2022 On a recent whale watching charter we witnessed the humpbacks courting. These images are of the female as she was showing off. The males (4 of them) were to busy chasing each other around the ocean to watch her as she breached , slapped and head lunged around Eau De Vie.

14.01.2022 Happy Birthday Sammy from the humpbacks. Sorry your uncle took so long to post it! Send us an image of a whale you took on this day

14.01.2022 Humpbacks swim past us upside down

14.01.2022 For those who wonder how to sex a humpback whale here is a great article with good images. I will endeavour to gather some images over the coming weeks of our local humpbacks for some practice sexing the big mammals.

10.01.2022 Live action today happening now 9:10

09.01.2022 The whales were plentiful again today with frisky whales charging around chasing each other. The afternoon session gave us 3, more mellow and playful humpbacks, cruising around the yacht with us until we left them after an hour or so of playtime to sail home. The water today was full of large particle which ruins a good image ....anyhow I still took 300 or more images of whales :) and back-scatter :(

09.01.2022 One of the wonderful days of whale watching in the last week with this winter sun and some fantastic company ...... nice interview girls! Awesome day out , one we will all remember.

07.01.2022 With the recent viral outbreak Getaway Sailing will not be conducting any sailing cruises. We will post our return.

07.01.2022 This August 2017 Eau De Vie and I have witnessed a spectacular show of humpback whales cruising along the humpback highway in front of the Gold Coast. We have had many guests on board watching the constant antics of these whales migrating to the warmer waters of eastern Australia for mating and birthing and now slowly returning to the Antarctic region where they feed for half of the year. This video shows some of the last 3 weeks of whale watching. https://youtu.be/s5DnpQkjmsY

06.01.2022 Judith Conning was aboard Eau De Vie last season with her camera gear and has shared some of her images with us. We had a very inquisitive humpback with us ...... spy hopping within meters of the yacht. Hope to see you again sometime up on the Gold Coast Judith.

06.01.2022 Nice image Sammy. You’ll make a fantastic photographer

03.01.2022 More whales. This is a little longer in each clip for those who like to watch the movements and patterns of whales swimming.

01.01.2022 The humpback whale migration has come to a close for 2017. It has been an awesome 6 months of viewing. Thank you to all of the guests who shared the migration of these magnificent mammals over the last few months. It has been the best whale watching season I have witnessed in the 8 seasons Eau De Vie and I have been lucky enough to be a part of. I am sure we have shared with many guests a memory of a life time and we look forward to next season to watch the Humpbacks cruise past the Gold Coast. We will be out on the ocean in the 3rd week of May 2018 looking for the first of the migrating whales. Stay safe If you are looking for a Xmas gift why not a Whales and Sails Gift Voucher 0438 453 769 Fair winds Darryl

01.01.2022 This whale spent the last 2 1/2hours swimming around the yacht.
