17.01.2022 INCREDIBLE: A pair of minke whales has been filmed catching waves and chasing bait fish at Seven Mile Beach near #LennoxHead. The footage has even left the experts in awe. #9News | Weeknights at 5.30pm

14.01.2022 If we had to give today’s whales a score out of 10, we’d have to give them at least 42! We found our happy trio of Mum Calf and Escort not far off North Head, w...ho were cruising along until the calf suddenly broke the surface with one of the craziest jumps we’ve ever seen! Pretty soon the mum and escort showed us some splashy moves of their own . And then, without any real warning, more whales appeared and suddenly we were watching a pod of at least 5 whales socialising and possibly getting into a little argy bargy, with some head-lunges and even a double breach (which, unfortunately, didn’t fit into our photographer’s frame). An all-round epic Tuesday and one we won’t forget anytime soon! Join us for an adventure! Book direct with us online at www.gowhalewatchingsydney.com.au or give us a bell on (02) 6495 1686.

10.01.2022 Amazing weather for our annual #ReefClean Cape York marine debris helicopter survey! First data trend: 146 plastic and foam commercial fishing floats (both Aust...ralian and international) recorded in just one 320m transect along the main debris line at our survey site. This spot is not accessible by road or boat and shows the high accumulation levels of fishing floats that we don't seem to see in areas that people can get to. Possible reason is these floats are often taken as souvenirs by beach visitors, so are under-represented in the datasets from remote but accessible sites. A massive thank you to our super awesome chopper pilot Michael Reed from GBR Helicopters Australia and to the Morris Family Foundation for supporting this year's survey! Also a big thank you to Jordan Gacutan from the University of NSW for data analysis and mapping support. 10.01.2022 Here are some sharks feasting on a dead whale. They are truly such magnificent creatures. Anyone can guess what shark that is? This great footage was captured by Hughie Towner in Angourie.

03.01.2022 WE NEED YOUR HELP - Tuesday 8th September 2020 The ORRCA Rescue team have had a confirmed sighting of an entangled Southern right whale, with a calf, resting i...n the Tuross Head area on the south coast. Latest details:- Monday afternoon... Sighting: Tuross Head, South Coast, NSW. Details: mum and calf were heading south Observation: the mother whale was possibly entangled with a buoy or debris attached trailing behind it. We hope to have ORRCA members out at various vantage points and headlands trying to track this whale today, weather permitting. If you are out along the coastline in this area in the coming days, please keep an eye out. If you see these whales, please call the ORRCA Rescue Hotline asap on 02 9415 3333. Please try to get a photo or video to confirm the entanglement plus a GPS location. Importantly, please don't approach these whales. Whales are protected in Australian waters. You must stay at least 100m away at all times, 300m if they have a calf. If the animal is entangled a 500m exclusion zone applies. Marie Jackson
