25.01.2022 "Vote Him Away (The Liar Tweets Tonight)" NUMBER TWO! Here's our brand new Virtual Sing-In. Sing along with us! Featuring Peggy Seeger and Jay Siegel of The Tokens!

20.01.2022 Well done, Janet and Joanne; as the Production Coordinator I was proud seeing it performed at the Wyndham Cultural Centre (where I was Venue Manager once) and La Mama from where we received a lot of support, as always. Congratulations - the publication by Australia Plays is a well deserved step.

19.01.2022 Dancing into Freedom? A life's story by Heidi Giersch with Janet Brown 26 years after their defection from Russia in 1956 when the Australian Government grante...d the infamous KGB-Spy-Couple Vladimir and Evdokia Petrov political asylum (so called Petrov Affair), in 1980 the first known defector, at least the first made publicly known since by the media at the time who was granted Political Asylum was also from a country belonging to the ‘Eastern Block’. i.e. geographically and even more accurately politically behind the ‘Iron Curtain’, namely East Germany, then called ‘German Democratic Republic’. What’s even more curious about it she was not a spy but an artist - Heidi Giersch, a ballet dancer with the renowned Komische Oper Berlin touring Australia who, literally, jumped boat (plane) after the last show of the tour in Sydney and soon moved to Melbourne. Together with critically acclaimed writer/playwright Janet Brown Heidi wrote a book about her life leading to her life-changing decision I have a choice: freedom or jail. And I choose freedom. About 13 years ago I was involved in first discussions about Heidi getting her story written down and possibly published. Fortunately, accomplished writer Janet Brown was immediately taken by Heidi’s experiences and agreed to the fruitful collaboration which lead to the book Dancing Into Freedom being launched, for everyone interested in a modern German/Australian historical event to read. For details refer to photo of back-cover of book. By the way, Janet Brown and I go back nearly 20 years when she was a member of CAA-Wyndham Community Arts Alliance Inc in the early stages after incorporation which I realised. In 2004 I had the privilege to be the Production Manager of her play A Hole In the Ground about the No Toxic Waste Dump campaign in Werribee, co-written with Joanne Ryan (today MP, Federal Member for Lalor) performed at La Mama, Carlton, and the Wyndham Cultural Centre.

12.01.2022 The prep-work for FOXHOLES OF THE MIND is in overdrive mode, optimism is at its peak since the borders to neighbouring states have opened. CovidSafePlans for the tour have been developed, all venue contracts are signed, a marketing company will be starting on the project soon, and our recent cast/crew meting was a great opportunity to rekindle our ensemble spirit. Further news will follow soon. Have a great Advent-Season... Santa is waiting in the wings
