24.01.2022 **Missing man, Bundaberg** Police are appealing for public assistance to locate a 41-year-old man reported missing from the Bundaberg area since June 11. Wade Marshall (pictured) was last seen around 11am on Bourbong Street in Bundaberg West however has not been heard from since.... Family hold concern for his welfare as his disappearance is out of character. Wade is described as Caucasian, around 185cm tall with a large build, short brown hair and hazel eyes. He has facial tattoos including wording above each eyebrow, as well as tattoos on his neck and arms. He was last seen wearing a green t-shirt with a large round symbol on the back, shorts and sneakers. Anyone who may have seen Wade or know his whereabouts is urged to come forward. 20.01.2022 ** Palace memorial commemoration ** The 20th anniversary of the Childers Backpacker Hostel fire, which claimed 15 lives, will be commemorated on Tuesday, 23 June.... Bundaberg Regional Council will open the Childers Palace memorial building on Tuesday for people to pay their respects. Council also supported the production of an 18-part podcast series and produced a video that will screen online at 6pm on the 23rd. Mayor Jack Dempsey will lay a wreath with Deputy Mayor Bill Trevor and chief executive Steve Johnston, who was mayor and CEO of the former Isis Shire in 2000. Mayor Dempsey said the commemoration would comply with COVID-19 restrictions, which had precluded international visitors from attending. The Palace Backpacker Memorial area upstairs at 72 Churchill Street, Childers, will be open to visitors from 10am to 6pm on Tuesday with a COVID-safe plan in place. Those attending are asked to please observe protocols regarding photography. People who wish to book access at a particular time should call 4130 4750 or email [email protected] before noon Monday, 22 June to avoid queuing.

The program is helping to drive business and economic growth in 22 communities across Australia and wanting to help another 8 communities. 13.01.2022 Rural Aid announced the winners of their inaugural Spirit of the Bush photo competition, the organisation put the call out for photographers to send through their best visualisation of the Spirit of the Bush. First place was awarded to Kristin Walsh (black and white image) from the NSW Riverina town of Gerogery. So much of the strength of the bush starts with family and a generational love of the land, and we thought this shot was a striking depiction of the theme. Secon...d place was awarded to Bunderra Cattle Co with their photograph of the ubiquitous wide, flat land that is seen in so much of the Australian landscape, and a silhouette of a family in front of a spectacular sunset. Congratulations to everyone and enjoy your prizes, these images are spectacular. 04.01.2022 Serious crash, Bundaberg **Police asking for assistance*** Police are investigating a serious two-vehicle crash on Childers Road in the Bundaberg region.... Early information indicates just after 6pm the cars were heading in opposite directions when they collided at Branyan. The 18-year-old female driver of one vehicle was transported to the Bundaberg Hospital in a critical condition. The other driver, a 31-year-old man was also taken to the Bundaberg Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Anyone with information relating to this incident is urged to contact police. The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
