12.01.2022 A reminder that the huge Howard Country Markets are on this Saturday (3rd October) from 7am till 12noon. Over 100 stalls with lots of variety including but not ...limited to fresh fruit & veg, gourmet deli products, spices, gourmet salt, clothing, jewellery, many varieties of plants, trees and palms, woodwork, garden ornaments, dog products, Dutch pancakes, coffee vans, books, fishing gear, face painting, plant pots, herbs, craft, bricabrac, cd's, honey, art, jams, cakes, baby accessories, peanuts, live birds, estate jewellery, soaps, candles, hair accessories, information stalls and much more. The canteen is open from 7am, there is a drink stall and a sausage sizzle. Apologies to anybody who we have missed. Howard is a lovely town to visit on market day (or any time for that matter) so we recommend taking a stroll in Steley Street to see Van Cootens Drapery and Grocery, browse real estate at Burrum District Realty, My Magikal Mess for lovely candles and gifts then go into William Street for the tender meat from Howard Butchery, fabulous bread from Howard Hot Bread Bakery, prescriptions at Howard Pharmacy, perhaps a milk shake from Howard Country Style Milk Bar and enjoy a terrific $12 steak for lunch at the Historic Grand Hotel. Extra parking is available on the vacant block at the corner of Steley & Coal streets. See you this Saturday. See more

11.01.2022 The Tin Man from iconic movie The Wizard of Oz is the inspiration behind this artwork, which Graham Barnes is entering in the upcoming Waste to Art Competition.... Graham’s tin man, named Aloysius, is depressed after Dorothy leaves, so he starts playing golf Entering the Waste to Art Competition for the third consecutive year, Graham said his passion for recycling came from his desire to reuse objects so they weren’t thrown away. I’ve always rather fix things than throw them out. I don’t like the way our society just throws things away." That practice was instilled in me by my mother who lived through the Great Depression when they had to make do with everything they had, Graham said. We can't wait to see Aloysius when entries go on display, along with another of Graham’s artworks - Prudence (the love of Aloysius’s life)! It's not too late to get started on your work of art using recycled, salvaged or repurposed materials. Entries for the 2020 Waste to Art Competition close on Sunday 18 October. Winners will be announced on Friday 6 November at the opening of the exhibition at Gatakers Artspace in Maryborough, which will run until 28 November.* More details including terms and conditions and application forms are available at www.frasercoast.qld.gov.au/wastetoart *Please note: Due to COVID-19 restrictions we are limited to 50 people at the winners announcement so it will only be open to artists' and family/friends.

All social distancing and personal hygiene rules still apply. Please be patient with your pub/club or venue as they implement the changes once again. 02.01.2022 Celebrated a special birthday with my bestie yesterday at the new Black Bear Restaurant in Hervey Bay. The Black Bear was everything that I hoped for and more. The food and the flavours were divine, the service was outstanding and the place has a great vibe. I honestly could not fault any part of our experience. Love the decor too! We will be back!

It will only take an hour! https://fb.watch/3H0hFoGsxT/...
