25.01.2022 Rural Aid announced the winners of their inaugural Spirit of the Bush photo competition, the organisation put the call out for photographers to send through their best visualisation of the Spirit of the Bush. First place was awarded to Kristin Walsh (black and white image) from the NSW Riverina town of Gerogery. So much of the strength of the bush starts with family and a generational love of the land, and we thought this shot was a striking depiction of the theme. Secon...d place was awarded to Bunderra Cattle Co with their photograph of the ubiquitous wide, flat land that is seen in so much of the Australian landscape, and a silhouette of a family in front of a spectacular sunset. Congratulations to everyone and enjoy your prizes, these images are spectacular. If you would like to donate, support or find out more about Rural Aid and what they are doing for rural communities find out more here: https://www.ruralaid.org.au/

19.01.2022 Wednesday 21/10/2020 From Miles, to Condamine for sunset storms and some beautiful bolts, then through to Moonie down to Goondiwindi and hundreds K's of torrent...ial rain out West, this is my favourite photo. Ive never seen this amazing sculpture at Goondiwindi. I had to pull out every trick in the book to get this photo as the storm passed and the rain poured out of it. I had a few poo pant moments as well. Flanged left and right and a few completely blown exposures. Optus service is terrible out there around Moonie and short of asking roadhouses to let me quickly check the radar via their wifi I had to go back to the old fashion method of reading the clouds to decide which direction to head. Hope you like this one, something different for me. Chris.

05.01.2022 A rare and endangered Australian butterfly has a more secure future thanks to a new project in the Goondiwindi region! MacIntyre Ag Alliance and Queensland Trust for Nature (QTFN) have secured a Community Sustainability Action Grant to safeguard the future of a critically endangered species of butterfly in the Goondiwindi region. This will fund Building Corridors for the Bulloak Jewel Butterfly over the next three years. Macintyre Ag Alliance Vice President Pip Jones said t...he project will extend and improve hundreds of hectares of habitat for the butterfly and associated species within a corridor connecting the Bendidee State Forest and National Park, one of only two locations where the species has been confirmed since 2000. For long term protection, the Bulloak Jewel Butterfly requires a local community knowledgeable of its plight and invested in its stewardship. We are very excited to be working with Macintyre Ag Alliance and the Goondiwindi region on this critical ecological work, Steve said. See more
